COD4 recoil plots
Some bros have requested that I produce recoil plots for the COD4 guns.
As usual, the scatter plots show a simulation of 100 ten round bursts; shots 1-3 are in green, shots 4-10 in blue.
I have assumed the same theory applies as for Black Ops/MW3.
To make this post more accessible I have included a link to it in my stickied Black Ops recoil plots thread.

See my Black Ops and MW3 recoil plots for more info on my methods and other external references; I'll not repeat them here.

That would be nice - I'm still playing this because of Dedicated Servers.

Id like to see them just for comparison, but IIRC a lot of those guns are already copypasted into Black Ops recoil plots..

I would be interested, but in all honesty I don't think it's worth your time. But if you're feeling bored or charitable, then I say good on ya.

Any more Bros like to see some COD4 plots?

Although it would be interesting, I feel its not worth it due to all the hackers in COD4. Its the main reason I can no longer play neither that nor World at War. But its all up to you and if you really want to put the time into making them. I do really appreciate the MW3 charts though.

I'd like to see the weapons that carried over from game to game lined up. But any gun dead in the past doesn't need a chart.

Thanks for the interest Bros; enough to justify me producing some trial plots; perhaps the ARs. When I get some free time.

I would be interested to know what has made you fed up with MW3 so quickly, h8ters.
I haven't bought the game yet but was getting tempted as Battlefield Play4Free has turned into the scam of the decade, and MW3 for Wii only £22 in Tescos.
Not sure though; the maps put me off more than anything; look far too cluttered. And I may do something rash like dig into my pocket and buy a half decent gaming PC, for playing Battlefield BC2 & 3.

Wait, what? You never bought the game?
First off, I'm REALLY grateful for all your work. But seriously, why did you present all this awesome data for a game you don't even possess?
How about being thorough and comprehensive with your MW3 work and creating plots showing the effects of, say, Grip AND Rapid Fire on MGs?
I too was a bit put off by the small and cluttered maps in MW3. But then I just adjusted my playing style, and learned that this game is just so much more high-intensity and fast.
This is just one jerk's opinion, but COD4 is kind of dead.

Yes, I'm interested---if you have the time.
I'd actually wouldn't mind seeing waW recoil charts too.. A lot of guns in WaW had some crazy centerspeed values. o.o

Glad to be of service.
Just interested in how games work, I guess, and it was easy to plug the MW3 gun characteristics into my Black Ops spreadsheet (exactly the same maths). + I work away from home quite a bit so some free time on my hands in the evenings - keeps my brain sharp and better for my health than heading for the hotel bar....

Would do if I had reliable data on the effects of grip.

It is for me too, but if other bros are interested, then I'll produce some plots. Interested to see the results myself, in fact.

First batch of COD4 recoil plots produced; the ARs.
To make this thead more accessible, I will include a link to it in my stickied Black Ops recoil plots thread.
So far, the plots seem to match my experience with the guns, especially the low recoil of the M4.
More to come.

I'd love to see WaW ones. So many weapons in WaW have incredibly high centerspeeds and low recoil.

The thing that pisses me off the most about MW3 is dying because its not my fault. ie: commando lunges, lag, and lag. not to mention lag.

Looooot of recoil. Wow.
I see why people used to bank on that M16.
Wonder what made them turn down the recoil in the next couple of games.

Thanks for doing this! My take on the charts:
The AK-47 is almost as good as the G36c in terms of recoil, even with the G36c's reduced idle sway. The M4 looks amazingly accurate, and it is, but the sway on it is equivalent to a sniper rifle. The MP44 and Mini-Uzi are beyond jokes. This solidifies their suckage.

M4 was my favourite full auto because of it's low recoil spread, even though it did less damage than the AK47.
