 Skyrim stories
« Thread Started on Nov 21, 2011, 8:25pm »

Why don't we share some interesting stories/ tactics/ etc.

be level 6 at Whiterun watch tower (first dragon kill area)
get killed by nearby giant once
go back and kite it to the watch tower, entrance too small for giant
guards and giants duke it out for 5 seconds, i kill giant with fire
take all that loot
repeat with 3 more giants :3

Doing a dark brotherhood quest and not wanting to risk a bounty for having to kill someone who just doesn't leave a tavern - the answer?

Cast Fury spell on said target who attacks customers in a rage, and they promptly tear him a new one, and I get the credit for the kill...Lazy Assassins for the win...

Just bein Dovahkiin over here, wandering around and picking flowers (to use in deadly (or at least mildly irritating) poisons).

Come across Anise's Cabin, little ol' lady's shack with no front door and half a roof. And a Kettle.
Anise is shifty. As I go to talk to her, she moves out of the way and I "steal" a kettle.
She goes nuts. "You have been caught Stealing" "Kettle Removed"
...For only a second. Everything's fine now. I guess. Okay? Whatever.

Fast forward two real time hours and I'm investigating a murder in Morthal and a little ghost girl is there.
I gotta wait until night time to find her.
Cool, I'll just wait here in the corner of his burnt down house.

SUDDENLY

Three Hired Thugs appear and start pummeling my unprepared, cornered ass.
I make it out alive, search the bodies and find a note:
"Yo I need some straight up gangstas to ice dis busta for disrespecting me and my kettle.
"~Anise"

I take a trip on over to Anise's house.

Lmao, why did Trogdor decide to burninate the dog?

So far, I've killed about 5 dragons at Winterhold College. es Dragons love magic. Have their bones piling up in the corner.

I hit a huge difficulty spike

I was at dorians respite or somthing near the west guard tower

Soons as I get out there is a boehthian cultist there and he is raping my face so I run he then murders my horse and hits me pretty hard so I take off running to get some distance... into some giants so I keep running then... a dragon

the dragon comes down and summarily eats me

I have nightmare streaks like that. The worst is Draugr Deathlords for me. So far, I haven't figured out a way for my mage to kill the Deathlords equipped with Ebony Bows and Arrows, which (unless I'm on very easy) can OHKO me. Mix in the gosh darn golly gee whiz things being able to Shout, and so far my only hope is to use the Ice Form shout to freeze it, and run like a bairn.

Getting clubbed into space by a giant
Getting into a fight with thugs and knocking them dead into a lake on morthal like an action movie
Fighting off a dragon and walking right into a dragon priest (as a thief)
Learning the effectiveness of shield bash and staggering everything but a giant or a dragon
Having a dragon literally slaughter an entire Orc stronghold while I waited for it to land.
Unrelenting forcing people off cliffs
And animal followers tanking it.

You mean, especially against dragons? Shield bash against dragons is so effective, they don't even attack back if timed correctly

Am currently at level 24 and haven't even seen a dragon bar the one from the opening scene, whereas a friend of mine who's at level 22 has already fought 6 of them...

I've killed 2, but seen more than that. They're always flying around high up though and I have no clue how to bring them down without having progressed the main quest.

Summon a Flame Atronach if you got it. Those girls can lead their shots so well, they can shoot a firebolt a week ago and it'll hit the dragon half a mile away through a window while it's eating breakfast.

Flame Atronachs will chip away at the dragon's health and make it land. Eventually.

'Course, you need to get the dragon's attention first before the Atronachs will throw fire at it.
Awaken your inner Tribes player and hit the dragon with a well-led projectile.

Haven't you done any of the main quest? It's literally like within the first 30 minutes of playing the game after the tutorial. I went straight to Whiterun, talked to the Jarl, then he sent me off to kill a dragon.

Dragons are like Oblivion portals, you have to advance in the main quest and the further you are, the more abundant they are.

Makes sense, I accepted the Jarl's mission in Whiterun and then decided to have a look round the world instead, which lead to to 30 hours + of doing anything BUT the main mission :)

Yep, I've got a mage and I think they're brilliant.

Trolls, which a load of people have problems with are pretty easy with a mage and there's something incredibly fun about tossing flames with one hand and lightning with the other...

As for conjured weapons - no great shakes tbh, but I've only used one twice and simply just use the normal attack spells instead.

With Conjuration's Mystic Binding Perk, a Mystic Bound Sword and Mystic Bound Battleaxe have the power equal to the Daedric weapons they look like.
Without Mystic Binding, they're at a power equal to Steel.

The Mystic Bound Bow is actually more powerful than any physical bow you can find (barring any Smith improvements or Enchantments) and you have virtually infinite ammo of the most powerful type.

They're no slouch for substitution of a physical weapon.
In fact you can get up to Mystic Binding pretty quickly and have weapons of significant power that would take your Smithing or Level Scaling much further to go before reaching that point..

I've been playing mage a bit now- all i do is increase magic and im focused in all over the place for the magic section *(except illusion)
I can kill bandits real easy, but other mages and wild animals pwn my balls because im still using the novice fire spell

trying to get up to greybeards, level 11 mage- gettin raped by wild animals when i try to confront them
conjure familiar is worthless against ice animals
healing+attack stll gets me killed
kite animal while casting fire runes under my feet as i run away = GReAT SUCCESS

I only bought it about a week ago - seriously did three quarters of the first mission, then went traipsing around the countryside.

I'll never forget the first, second, third... seventy-seventh time I took on one of those guys that hangs around the mammoths and the big campfires.

If I had a bicycle I could have been in a Steven Spielberg movie.

As an aside, it really irks me when my Khajiit gets pwned by a Sabre cat.

Use magic? Seen the perk Silent Casting? Get it, use it, love it.

I've seriously hammered my mage character. I'm level 53, but I had to absolutely hammer enchanting in order to be able to deal with Draugr Deathlords and other cheesy critters.

It's my own fault really. I'm playing with no armour whatsoever, and it means that I get dead pretty quick against anything high level, or which has something sharp in its hand. Couldn't kill them due to high magicka costs before I got one shotted by a lot of things in the game.

Still, it's a challenge, and that's half the fun to me :D

I'm finding it difficult to believe that I could chase down a dragon that was campfire-roasting a mammoth, and using novice shock attacks to take down, when not five minutes before had I encountered an Ice Wolf on my way to Winterhold and been completely dominated by it.

Basically my entire strategy, when not firing long-range arrows at my enemies, is to use left-hand Destruction and right-hand Restoration.

When I'm starting to lose, I run away like a sissy.
