There isnt even a point of getting first anymore since you still only get 1000 exp
our clan always manages to get silver with 2-4 people playing. when the timing is right and we can have mroe people on, (at least 6 playing at once fomr start to finish) we get a gold
The whole point of this stuff is flying over your head. You say there isn't even any point???????? It's about fun and goals.
What we are playing for is.....
1) For fun. Having an event like this gets everyone online, playing as a TEAM, for a goal. That's fun. It's a great time. The solo Elite stuff is kind of lame (in my opinion), but getting everyone together for a common goal is a blast.
2) As far as having six premium members, that being it all it takes for Gold? Maybe...maybe not. But we aren't just playing for Gold. We already realized a while ago that with our group, that's a foregone conclusion. Gold isn't the goal anymore.
What we are playing for now....we are having fun in trying to see if we can win 1st place. And it doesn't matter if everyone gets the same 1,000XP, no 1 or no 1,000. Who cares. It's about fun. Pride. Having a good time. See how far you can go. We've gotten into the top couple hundred like six straight contests. As high as 74. We want to see if we can get to No 1. Do it on our own terms too....win without having to resort to sandbagging, quitting/losing games on purpose to score points.
..note...you don't need to be playing to win 1st to have fun. It's all about having fun, teamwork, and trying to beat your prior scores. Whether that's 10,000th, 5,000th, 1,000th or 100th....it's all relative.

Some thoughts.
The Elite Clan contest last night was for Touch Football TDM. I can't stand Touch Football. Put that out there. I find the whole concept a bit puss*ish. Not that it is, that's just my opinion. Lots and lots and lots of hiding is the main reason. That said......I did enjoy it a bit more last night. For a number of reasons:
1. I think this was because of the Elite Contest.....but every game we played last night, was against another clan. The whole format was basically 'clan vs clan' games, and that made things fun. We saw lots and lots and lots of gold tagged clans in the 6 v 6 format. That was a blast, as a lot of the games featured solid, well thought out tactics. We did well too...going 16-1 untill losing the last game 7,300 to 7,500. So 16-2. Not one dashboarding opponent all night (YES!) and for the most part, very little quitting by opponents. Most opponent groups were nice too...everyone giving each other props when the game ended. Respectful gameplay. You can't go wrong there.
2. We did better than last time. About 1,2050 total plus kills,...rather than 1,086. So we moved a bit up to 448th place or something like that. In the top 1.4%. We only had one team going, as most of clan hates this game. What did we do? As a unit....we all ran UAV. Then people split things between bulletvests and counter UAV. Those are the only killstreaks all six of us did. I think it worked. We all also figured out (none of us have a lot of experience in HTDM) that Skill Cannons (aka 'No ob tube ) are clutch in Touch Football. A must use attachment. So is Assassin. I used Blind Eye, Assassin and Dead Silence. I think the vests are really underrated. They help a ton. I couldn't even list all the times i could actually feel that little extra protection save my life. ten times? 15?, 20?
3. I did much better this time. Last time, I think my KD was around 1.29 after the three hour contest. This time? It was up around 1.97 or so, after three hours of playing. Something i was doing, was working better.

We only had two people playing in the recent HC TDM contest, and we ended up getting our first silver! Unfortunately I couldn't make it as I had kid duty.

More Clan comp stuff.
Tried the Elite Dom Contest today. I can see why Elite is hesitant to run Capping contests, in Domination. People cheat quite a bit. After today's contest was over....i checked the feed, where people were posting their clan's scores. I must have counted well over a dozen clowns posting their clan had total caps well over 1,800. One as high as 2,8000, another at 3,000. All I can say is .....
....BS.
Someone scoring the 2,000's....one is talking like six guys all averaging around 350 caps over the three hours. Assuming 18 games, that's like 19.4 caps per game. Not happening. Reading the boards, some of the above cheaters had people posting that they had their friends, as opponents, in the same lobby. Simply boosting caps. So lame.
We played correctly (all of us played on the same team, no quitting, and tried to win too). Ground War, and made sure we tried to cap like crazy. We only got 16 games in over the three hours (went 16-0) ....that part was a bit disappointing. I thought we would be able to get more games in. Oh well. We also weren't real organized at first in our strategies. It took us about 90 min to really get things wired down. All in all, we had 760 caps, and finished in 247th place, out of 33,596 clans. Assuming quite a few above were cheating we might have broken below 100.
Back to the average caps per game....i felt we were a bit weak on this. Our top guy averaged 10.00 caps per game. Next was 9.38 caps per game.

Not to be a downer, but I find it vain committing to competitions where many abuse their goals openly -- and being unscathed in the process. Not to mention this being the breeding ground of condescension as a whole... so outside of personal enjoyment, doesn't that ruin the purpose of these events?

What in God's name are you talking about?
If you are asking if it ruins our clan's personal enjoyment, if some clans cheat.......only i can only speak for what i see, and i would say 'no'. While i am not a fan of the solo Elite comps.....the clan ops have been a different story, they have been fun so far. It has brought people together, gave people a reason to hang out, and a side little bonus....give everyone a fun goal to attain, to see how high we can place. We've done well, and have come close to the top 50 now a few times. The game is almost in it's 7th month....and this has brought some new enjoyment. Most of us in the clan are all relatively try-hard type players.....so it fits.
Also...all but one of the clan ops has been non-capping contests. Games like TDM and Kill Confirmed. I think the cheating/boosting in these game modes is waaaaaaaaay lower than Domination. Cheaters might swap flags with each other....but aren't as eager to die repeatedly for each other.
Domination/capping contests....i bet half of the top 500 are cheating.
TDM/Kill Confirmed contests....i would guess there is almost no cheating going on in the top 500.

For 1: for a while they mistakenly only gave 1000XP to champions, same as gold. They have corrected that.
For 2: proportional probably means that if X percent of total population are playing Domination, then X percent of all future clan ops will be domination focused. In the past a few weeks the ops have been mainly about TDM/KC and Dom players are complaining. They plan to address that.
For 3: if I understand correctly "clan challenge" is not clan vs. clan, but is goal oriented just like the daily/weekly challenges they currently have for individuals. Certain goal needs to be achieved by the collective effort of the whole clan to be able to earn the clan XP. The good thing about this is every clan member can contribute directly, regardless the skill level. Unlike Clan Ops, only the top 6 players can contribute directly.

Oh i see. That's pretty interesting. Or it could be win based...like your clan has to get 300 wins in three days, or something like that. That sounds fun. There's a ton of potential there.

True. But this would open up some epic smack talk between clans and friends!!! I think our clan could more than hold it's own with most top clans out there, do well. I already have a pretty good feel for it, as I know some of the top clans, have played against them The community isn't that large.. Some are on my friends list

Top clan is "TheWickedElite"
It is run by WickedShr4pnel from youtube, and is essentially full of beasts, the top 6 finishers for them are generally players who have won Lone Wolf Ops. I believe Trademark is in it, members of the clan made the "6 MOABs in one game" vid he posted. They have won 9 or 10 of the clan ops.
I think the strategy they run is the solo beast players run solo for TDM comps, so nobody else on their team takes too many kills and they can go big. Makes sense since the "clan ops" are really "who has the best 6 lone wolf players" ops.
Also, looks like I'll go get one kill in touch football later to get that bronze.

Do you know what's up with the Elite Contests? Our clan got teams together for Friday, Sat and Sunday's contests (I think you were in the last two)....and as of this morning, none of them are up on the Elite page yet. What's going on? Is there a place one can ask questions or find answers? The most recent clan results update is for the KC contest, which was last Tuesday. WTF???
Kind of frustrating, because I think on the Dom contest, on Sat, .....we might have placed in the top 100 again. Our team score was about 170 caps higher than the prior one.....that should have us way up there.

Then again....if it is, there might have been an issue where we were to balanced yestereday. I did notice at one point, maybe the half way point....where places 3 to 12 were only separated by like 10 to 15 kills. Might have been to much kill sharing.

I went back and checked my game per game stats, from the contest. We got on at 6:00PM ET...exactly, 5 seconds late....so a good start. Our squad of nine got in 18 games, going 18-0. Average margin of victory was 10,000 to 5,100. From 6:00pm ET to the 18th game, which was from 7:58pm to 8:04pm. I then got off, didn't play the remaining 56 min.
18 games. 226 kills. 12.55 kills/per game. 2/3rds the way through the contest.
We were on pace for getting eight more games in....so we would have had 26 games in all. With that, my own stats to project out to total of 326 kills. (12.55 x 26 games). That's in line, I had had 345, 295, 321 in the prior contests.

That is REALLY screwed up. Like ROYALLY f*cked up.
I'm a bit pissed.
I simply went into my prior games, took the kills right off the Elite game cards. Added them up. 226. They show 184. How the f*ck can they miss 42 kills??????????????????????????? What am i missing here?
NOTE....when they had the ten contests a few weeks ago, it was working pretty well.

I know for the op yesterday I saw "your clan leaderboard is being constructed" and it was "retrieving data" until at least 6:30, and none of my kills from the three games I played in that time counted. This was around 70 kills that just didn't count, at which point I said Foxtrot this and gave up.

I hear you......it blows.
Thing is, we were going to finish it up, as we wanted the 1,000 XP Gold medal stuff. So regardless of how bad they messed up the points, we wanted that.
But with that....this is f'd up. A lot of clan members are doing this contest, because we want to try and win one of them. We are already close, having finished in the top 100 already, and a few other times in the 100's. We are close. It makes it fun, in a competitive try-hard way, to try and see if we can win it all. But if we are spending $50 each, thousands in all (50 x 56 members).....what point is it if we can't trust IW/Sledgehammers's program to accurately count the scores????

I did a quick check on our no 1 guy....he's off by 52. Let's just say, if i do the checking for the entire top 6...it seems like each is going to be off by 40 to 50 on average. That's about 4 to 5 games missing. Where did they go?

Well, I checked my total. I missed about the first half of the op. Didn't start playing until 7:19 ET. I got in a few games solo and then hooked up with Yami's group to play about the same number with them. I played a total of 11 games during that span with a total of 136 kills. Those matched between my game logs and the Clan Op leaderboard. Not sure where your missing games are. Maybe from early in the op?

So reading what you said.....you logging on later, and your scores matching up.....
it would appear the problem was at the beginning of the contest? It didn't count the first four or five games?
I'm bummed out, I think we had an opportunity to break 2,000 kills, and place even higher. Dont' have the time right now to calculate everyone's scores, but if it's around 40 to 50 per person, we were close.
I'm also still dying to know how we did in the Dom contest on sunday....we topped our old score by a huge margin.
