Not trying to advertise for ActiVision and Microsoft (not affiliated with either and don't own any of their stocks :-) ), I would recommend this deal, $15 for:

1) 7 regular maps IMHO have above average quality compared to the stock maps;

2) 2 Face Off maps if you like the FaceOff. 2 maps became old too fast. I still think that they should have added 2 more free ones to keep the community interested, maybe remaking CoD4 Shipment and MW2 Rust.

Not a fan of the Spec Ops missions at all so definitely don't put in your money just for that.

Well, DLC sales must be FAR below expectations for Activision to do something like this.

I already regret purchasing the first DLC (non elite here). The segmentation of the playlists is so bad that I wind up turning it off half the time anyway to find a decent game.

i hope their sales are horrendously awful anemic. maybe they'll change their strategy... stringing along customers through endless DLCs might be *+thought+* the way of the future, but that doesnt mean those people cant be wrong... god i hope theyre wrong.

So... What'll they do if they don't get money from dlc? I don't think they will give us stuff for free.

I am fine paying for DLC but hopefully they discover that the best way to sell it is... give us more for less money!

Just wish we could get more then just maps in DLC. Don't even mention the face off maps and spec ops missions.

I usually agree with your posts, but I have to disagree here. I think the DLC maps are terrible.

Liberation - Probably the worst map in the entire game, complete sniper-fest.
Black Box - Another snipe-fest. I don't think I've played a game of 6v6 KC that has ended due to score on this map.
Foundation - Yet another snipe-fest.
Sanctuary - Twice as large as it should be, and all of the action happens in corridors with no cover at all.

Oasis, Overwatch, and Piazza are playable, but not really great. I wouldn't consistently vote for any of them over any of the original maps except for Outpost and Resistance.

I'm glad I haven't bought any of them. :)

Other than Kowloon, I thought all the Blops DLC maps were great.

I'll share my opinions as well, just my 2 cents.

IMHO, Overwatch is the best DLC map. I'll rank it among the top 5 of the 23 maps.

Oasis and Piazza are solid CQC maps. At least from my personal experience they feature intense actions throughout games. I would rank them among the top 10 of the 23 maps.

Sanctuary is a map that needs some growing into, as it features numerous corners and subtle sight lines that require certain amount of games played to discover. IMHO it is a solid map once a players knows the ins and outs, and would appreciate the richness the map provides. As a result, it is among the top half in my books.

The 3 remaining maps offer long sight lines which are requested by the players who would like to snipe. However, based on my game play experience I wouldn't call the games "sniper-fest". , SR and LMG are definitely much more usable on these maps, but still feel a bit clumsy compared to ARs and MP7. Sure, the games tend to be much slower paced, as cautious movement is much more desirable than aggressive rushing.

Black Box is one of my personal favorite but I can see why it is not popular. The way I play it is to rely heavily on SitRep pro and take advantage of the rich variety of different surfaces to locate the enemy (aka sound-whoring). This is the map that I actually like to face snipers on the opposing team. Most snipers tend to face the center for the rich long sight lines. To counter, I move around the peripheral of the map and go from house to house to hunt them down. With the exception of really good snipers, most SR waving players are sniper-wanna-be that are not very good, and they feel like sitting duck to this simple strategy.

Foundation and Liberation are 2 of my least favorites, but I still enjoy them as a change of pace compared to other maps. As I said above, snipers are not a big problem and I feel ARs are much more effective, but the pace of the games definitely tend to be quite slow.

In summary, I consider 5 maps in the top half and 2 maps in the bottom half but introduce some variety. Hence the "above average" impression. I would not recommend them for $30, but for $15 I would recommend them to bros who:

1) In general enjoy playing MW3;
2) A bit tired of playing the stock maps;

I don't mind the new maps. I do think they all tend to play as 'bigger' maps....but it is, what it is. I don't mind big maps. They can be fun. There's something really fun about using shotguns, smg's....on big maps. I love it. And of course...LMG's and snipers, they always work there too. Big maps can require a bit more strategy at times, so that's fun.

Foundation? I think it's pretty cool. My problem with it? It's ridiculously one-sided for Domination. I lost a legitimate, straight up Dom match on this map (my only Domination loss this past month), on this map. We started on the crap side (as always)....and played against a good team. We could no flip the spawn. No matter what we tried. They kept tac'ing in on C...we kept trying to tac in on the middle, no flip. Plus two green guys (on our side) kept sniping waaaaaaaaaaaaay back on our own spawn (A). Very frustrating. It took our guys like 17 seconds to get to B....their side, about 10 seconds. You can't close that gap, without TI's....and they knew not to take A. Frustrating map.

Liberation is a bit to campy....but that's the player's fault, not the map. Ditto the same on Black Box. When you get people playing, playing to win, those maps are fun.

Pizza is fun. I enjoy that.

Overwatch? Probably THE most fluid re-spawn map in the history of CoD, at least for Domination. I have never seen a map change hands as often as that map does. I think it's because of the two overlapping levels. As a spawn trapper...i find this map frustrating, but fun, in a challenging way.

Another thing regarding foundation (not necessarily good or bad): it is quite annoying when the opposing team spam SBs. For one Dom game I played almost all of my deaths are resulted from SB because of this, it seems to be the map with the least cover.

Wow, 15$ for 12 drops? That there's my incentive to purchase them all. Looks like Kotick isn't truly a heinous being after all.

Though in retrospect, I recall spending the same on a 4-map DLC for BO (the Hotel one)... here's hoping that comes far and between later down.

Okay, Black Box just became my favourite map ever. Not only is there Inner Circle, but the verticality is just insane. A definite far-cry from the usually flat stock maps.

It's pretty hard to find a game with the new maps. I just bought them today and only managed to play overwatch and oasis. So far they're definitely better than the cluttered clusterFoxtrot that is half the MW3 maps.

I highly suspect they were made by a different dev team, if the mini map is to be believed. And, you know, the completely different design philosophy.

Has anyone else noticed the minimap on some of the new maps is blurry?

They shouldn't be blurry, but the design used to designate cover is different from the base maps, suggesting they were made by a different team.

Really? What do you mean by that?

Also, I am sure something on PS3 Black Box is odd, because the minimap is super clear at some angles, but if you rotate, almost all of it is a blurry mess.
