I have endured what no one else has. This. Gun. Sucks. There is no way in hell that this weapon is "balanced". To even go positive with this gun, you have try so hard. You must do what no one else can.
This guns doo-dooty stats are a severe over-sight and must be fixed. I really, really, REALLY don't see what was so hard about keeping MW2 Shotties and putting them as primaries.
No one else has? Me:
KSG-12: 12,152 Kills / 8,259 Deaths (1.47 K/D)
I used the KSG as my only primary for a period of 250-300 consecutive matches. That will really do some messed up things to your head.

you guys are INSANE. its taken almost more than i can bear to get the ksg and spas to damage so ~ 400 kills? and ive immediately dropped them. i might whip them out in search every now and then, but no more...
USAS is great though. i can use that all day and love it.

I don't know what's wrong with you all's accuracy but the pumps with damage aren't any more or less consistent than they were in MW2. Note that I'm NOT saying they are as STRONG as they are in MW2 - the range to get kills as a whole has been reduced unless you have specialist bonus - but I now know the ranges for 1 and 2 shot kills. Unless you're at max range and your opponent is behind cover it barely ever takes 3. I know what I'm getting with the pumps and I can do quite well with them to the point where people have sent me messages saying that they're confused how I kill so consistently with them. In reality I'm not cheating, or doing anything out of the ordinary. I put RDS on my shotties, ADS with stalker, and make sure that dot is smack dab on your chest. Result: About 80% of the time the pumps OSK for me.
P.S. Moopus I don't know if you're being sarcastic but a 2.85 KD with the SPAS isn't really supporting your argument that it sucks....

I like how this thread turned into "shotguns suck, look at my awesome K/D with them!" It's reminiscent of those IQ threads where people say "IQ tests are racist, my 214 IQ is really just meaningless."

I do find that Stalker + Spas works pretty well. I'm just not really used to hipfiring (Big Stakeout fan in Blops); Playing at 6 sensitivity causes me to overturn a lot and get glancing shots. The reduced turn rate while ADS helps me put almost all shots just about dead center, which gives me reasonably consistent OHKs. Haven't even unlocked damage yet, but I don't have too much issue with the SPAS (though the lack of consistency is definitely an issue). I'd prefer it if they kept total damage output the same but increased the number of pellets.

I still get tons of hitmarkers with the manual-action shotguns.
Funny, I had been writing up a post and was going to mention you. You have the highest accuracy on my friends list by a wide margin, and your accuracy is 2 or 3 times higher than mine for all of the SMGs and ARs. The claim of 80% OSKs is absolutely ridiculous given that it's pretty hard to even connect on 80% of shots. It only gets worse when lag gets involved. There are arguments to be made for not buffing the shotguns, but that's clearly not one of them.

Sorry, I didn't think that my posting would be construed that way - I didn't mean to imply I was proud of my KDR and don't think that anyone on this forum would be overwhelmingly impressed by a 1.47. It was more about the will to continue using the gun for over 8K deaths.

Aww, you flatter me... But I only post my shotgun stats because even with gosh darn golly gee whiz near perfect accuracy point-blank hitmarkes are still a common occurrence.
What/ My accuracy is not skilled enough for the Model? Silly you, Infinity Ward.

And lately I've been loving the fuck out of headquarters and that's not a very k/d or camp oriented gametype
LOL you can't be serious. HQ is one of the few gametypes where tactical loitering and killwhoring also happens to be a winning strategy.
1. cap a few, build a small lead 2. wait for the HQ to go somewhere open/vulnerable/easy to camp outside 3. set up and kill everything, but don't cap 4. repeat until time limit.
This is actually better than trying to cap on a lot of maps, because you can only get so many points per HQ, and you risk your opponents coming back on the remaining ones. Lockdown is an excellent example. If your team has the lead when the HQ goes to the upstairs room in the building between corner building and the long hallway (the one with four entrances...), setting up all around it is much better than capping it. It's virtually impossible for them to cap if you just camp and kill them. There are too many directions to look and it's too enclosed. There are four angles you can come and shoot them from, and 5+ angles for explosives. You can even have a guy camp under the window with C4. Soon you have so many killstreaks in the air they are dying as soon as they spawn, and as long as your team keeps tactical loitering they have no option but to keep coming to you if they want to win the game.
End result? Everybody on a coordinated winning team has 100+ kills and a 3.0 at the very least, with less risk than playing the "real" (dumb) way. It's like spawn trapping in Dom rather than triple capping.

Don't kill me for this buuut....i feel like shotguns In General should be secondary weapons. They fill such a small niche/role. Its like this; MW2 had secondary shotguns that were really powerful, BUT so were all the other secondaries. They fit in well. How many maps could you truly run around the whole map and be more effective with shotguns than primaries? Not many. MW3 has shotguns that are as powerful as secondaries, but are primaries.
I feel like the MW3 shotguns fit in perfectly as secondaries in the game as they are. In fact if they were secondary that would actually add some balance to the class as the AA-12 wouldn't be entirely useless as a secondary.

I could go for that, but just to iron out all the wrinkles how would the PM9 and shotguns work in terms of proficiencies? Keep the profs or not? And does the PM9 get to keep all its attachments or will things like rapid fire get replaced by akimbo.

Shotguns would keep: Range+Damage+Focus PM-9: no Akimbo, no RF, built-in Kick: not every secondary must have all attachments accepted by secondaries, look at handguns ....

Build damage into all of them, fuck range. Bam, they're balanced secondaries.
