Hello, I've discovered a neat trick a couple days ago, that improves your aiming on the xbox by a huge margin, making it smoother and more responsive, much like in the BETA.
Its been confirmed by numerous sources now, so its not a placebo as I initially thought.
What you do is, 1. Launch Bf3. 2. Load your profile 3. While in Main menu 4. Unlug your controller. 5. Plug it back in. 6. Enjoy
You need to do this trick every time you launch Bf3. To undo it, simply dashboard and launch Bf3 again.
To see the real difference w/without this trick; 1. Dashboard 2. Launch bf3 3. Load any Campaign level 4. Track an object 5. Unplug&replug your controller.
Please share this, as more people need to be made aware.
Hope it helps!

I'm curious too, anyone know the science (or sorcery) behind this?

If this truly works, report this to dice employee on twitter / mail them. Might give them a lead

I tried it out, and it definitely works. But it threw off my aim the rest of the night; I'm too used to the lag in the sensitivity.

Hi,
I've tweeted this to @battlefield, sent it as a news tip to mp1st & bf3blog and posted it on battlelog forums.
This was well over a week ago, and still no official word or mention in either blog.
As for how it works, I honestly don't know. Maybe the controller deadzone is re-calibrated after being unplugged?
Trick to use this "new" sensitivity is getting used to it on the DEFAULT sensitivity first, as the controller's thumbsticks become more responsive.
Another weird thing I've noticed was, after using this trick, going from a vanilla map to B2k, the aiming seemed to get worse, so I had to reapply the trick. Not 100% sure if it was just a fluke or something to do with the patch.

Weird. Too bad I can't try this on PC with a controller as there's no menu. Maybe this works too during loading screens (if there even is a deadzone on PC, but there most likely is since controller work is most likely copy-pasted)
You could try tweeting Demize99 or zh1nt0 about it too, see if they answer.

I've tweeted zh1nt0. I havent tweeted demize99 because I thought he was off the bf3 team? Anyway, no answers from any official channels. This is kinda worrying, if I recall correctly, there was a discussion about beta vs retail aiming, where people prefered beta's feel the most and asked it to be reverted to that, but official reply was something along the lines of "its not that simple, something else is going on, our engineers are on it."

That was a reply for the Xbox controls? I thought that was regarding the input lag on the PS3... Could be misinformed tho.

That was a reply for the Xbox controls? I thought that was regarding the input lag on the PS3... Could be misinformed tho. Found the quote; "Some players have been vocal in their displeasure with the final release aiming mechanics, they felt that it was spot on in the beta and the issue can be easily sorted by setting the aiming back to as it was in the beta. Kertz shed some light on the issue by stating “if it was that simple, it wouldn’t be a problem. It’s not the controls, something else is going on. [DICE's] engineers are looking into it.” Just a side note, Kertz was referring to real life engineers, not in game!" source mp1st.com/2011/10/29/new-battlefield-3-patch-details-changes-to-aiming-pp-2000-and-much-more/I think the aiming mechanics were changed on both consoles in the retail version.
