EMP Grenades Are Very Powerful « Thread Started on Aug 29, 2012, 9:19pm »
You are my bro, bro. Not because this is my first thread, but because you are.
DISCLAIMER: This is only valid for the wii version. I need confirmation for the other systems.
Okay, many of you think of the emp grenade as mediocre and decent, and that it does it's job well enough. But on the wii version, it does it much better. It can take out a pave low with 1 grenade!
This has been tested multiple times in both private match and public matches. I can destroy a full health pave low with its flare intact. It can also take out over watches in one hit. But I was not able to get a hit marker on the attack helicopter, and did not test with the strafe run or escort airdrop. Also, I had blind eye (not pro) on, but it couldn't have affected the grenades damage since I did not have it pro yet. I believe on the HD consoles, emp grenades only take out sentries, SAM turrets, recon drones, trophy systems, and assault drones in one hit (if the item has full health and all flares intact). On the wii, I can confirm that it takes out all those plus pave lows, IMS and AH 6 over watches with only one grenade.
I think this is a very huge buff for the emp grenade. On the wii, we don't have predators, reapers, ac 130's, recon drones, or osprey gunners (but we do have escort airdrops). This means the helicopter such as the over watch and pave low are the only options, and since they are easily disposed of by the emp grenade, they are no longer a nuisance. Even though I could not get a hit marker on the regular attack helicopter, and didn't test on the strafe run, it very quickly takes out the other two. The emp grenade is much faster than a stinger, the only downside it you only have one, and it takes up a tactical equipment slot. But you get an open secondary slot. I am not sure if this is a glitch.
Any feedback or further tests are appreciated. Thanks!
UPDATE: I still wasn't able to get a hitmarker on attack helis. I also couldn't get a hitmarker on the strafe run. But I can take out an escort airdrop with all of its flares intact.

Most of this only happens on wii though.
I will say, fast deployment, intakill on recon drone, and combines with sitrep can clear a room full of bombs (and even net some kills) makes it a very worthwhile equipment

At the very least, it'd be useful if you not only had 2, but if it permanently fried the electronics of whoever got hit by it. Maybe also jack up the radar for about twice the amount of time and add in the EMP's "no killstreaks for 45 seconds" effect.
Usually I can envision a few scenarios where a piece of kit can be buffed or tweaked to be more useful, but here I'm somewhat at a loss. Maybe triple the amount of time an EMP'd enemy stays on radar for recon users, and add some synergy there?

If you want more synergy with recon, I think the best way is the give the EMP grenade MASSIVE range. Not game-breaking-deathmansnuke style, but pretty big. That way you can tag a larger area than with flashes/ stuns, and you can take out kill streaks easier. The only trade-off is you get 1 instead of 2.
LOL, who uses claymores anyway? Its already 100% countered by Assassin Pro, would've been great to start with two instead of one.
You mean Stallker Pro/ Sitrep. Assasin doesn't affect any lethal equipment.
No no, I meant when you get Assassin Pro, its immune to EMPs, which INCLUDES EMP Grenades, so if you threw one at a Assassin Pro user, they aren't effected by it at all. Also EMP Grenade is Tactical, not Lethal.

Oops I thought he was talking about being immune to the claymore with assassin pro. Ma bad.
Dude idfk if youve played cod with motion controls but its freaking intense. I wish i had the wii version
I know, it's so awesome. I used it for a while, but I couldn't calibrate it properly (apparently I was too close, but I was a good 2 meters away from my tv) so I switched to ccpro. Dropshotting and bunnyhopping is worthless on the wii against wiimote users since it is really easy for them to readjust their aim. I know from experience.
He reports that the AH-6, Pavelow, and Osprey are the only choppers that will get immediately taken down by an EMP grenade. Because of distance, I would assume, it's not as effective against a Attack Heli. However, you can watch that after he throws the grenade at it (although he does have Blind Eye Pro), it only takes a few extra shots to take down. I would assume that if it can't reach a Hewey, it won't be able to reach any of the choppers in a Strafe Run.
Realistically, anything that the EMP grenade can't reach can be easily destroyed with any launcher. Even if you find a SMAW, I'm sure that it can take down UAVs, Care Package helis, and the Attack Chopper (although the last one might take a few more shots afterwards).
This is why I like rolling with UAV, Precision Airstrike, and Strafe Run. I save my UAV so that when I get the Airstrike, it'll help locate targets. Usually a successful airstike and 1-2 more kills gets the Strafe, which takes a minimum of 2 Stinger missles to take down. They have to shoot the 2nd and 4th choppers for the splash to target the center one enough that it gets destroyed. Most of the time the 1st will go down with the 2nd, and visa-versa with 5th and 4th.
Why did you guys even buy COD for the Wii? I don't understand. Please explain
My first CoD was Black Ops on the Wii, but I've since moved to PC.
In retrospect, the controls are not bad: they're different. Large, gross movement is poor and slow, but the motion controls actually afford very fine control over aim and mechanically feel infinitely more similar to a mouse than a controller.

And you feel like a badass with the zapper in your hands.

Huh, that's interesting. I've never played COD on the Wii (obviously) but I've always had the impression that it's inferior to console/PC. Thank you for broadening my look on things a bit
