Is it a flat reduction or a multiplier?

Cool, guess that means it scales better on the higher streaks.

No, this is what Vahn said but it's a lie. It's not a 20% reduction to the score requirements, it's a 20% multiplier to any points you receive. I've tested this. If it was a 20% reduction, you could get a Swarm at 1520. This does not happen. Instead with Hardline, you need to reach a 1600 score before you can earn a Swarm. (1600 x 1.2 = 1920) A 20% reduction would be better than a 1.2 multiplier, but Hardline is still more effective than it ever has been in any past game. In Black Ops 1, Hardline only made sense to use with low killstreaks. Now it makes sense regardless of what scorestreaks you choose.

Yeah Hollywood is right, though most people will throw around both b/c they are ignorant/don't think about the math. When I originally tested it I assumed it was a 20% reduction but the math didn't add up. I then realized that it gives you 20% extra score even though it doesn't show it on screen. If you want to prove it to yourself equip CUAV and a class w/o and with hardline. W/o HL it will take exactly 600. With HL it will take exactly 500.

Yes, I ve ask same question and did test my own. Hardline gives 20% more for every point u earn, so 1.2* every score u earn This is equivlent to divide 1.2 in scorestreak requirement 1/1.2 = 0.83333 (so it is not 0.8 Because the dumb dev do not change the score appear in the screen when u equip Hardline, u can divide 1.2 to ur scorestreak requirement(or times 0.833333) so it's about 16.67% reducation but not 20%

if it's a 20% increase in the points you earn, i'm assuming this is only for killstreaks, correct? You don't actually gain 20% more point towards leveling up?

so you do level more quickly with hardline? oh gosh darn golly gee whiz. Urgh... Score and XP are completely different things. I thought people would know this by now! Anyway, the number you see on screen is the SCORE you earn towards your scorestreaks. The XP you earn doesn't show up on screen at all. Hardline increases the score you gain only. It has no effect on XP whatsoever. Score and XP; learn the difference. It may save your life.
