If used correctly it is a pretty good streak IMO. Never just randomly lob it. Save it til someone is on b flag or something for some important kill/s or lob it at an aircraft for lots of points. 3x at least more points if you lob it at an aircraft.
2 things I'm unsure of would make it even better...
How many of them can you stack? Do they one shot things like agr, dragon fire, stealth chopper, lodestar etc?
Could be a really good killstreak.

You can't stack killstreaks by the regular way. Not sure if there are some exploit like in MW3, since I've never played the game

The exploit in MW3 was to change classes, but in BO2, all classes have the same scorestreaks, preventing this. How many of them can you stack? One.

You cant stack your scorestreaks but you can stack your carepack slot.

Hunter killer sucks. More than one kill is miraculous. Save your points and use lightning strike. Most of the air is free in this game. Run Uav with it and by the time you have lightning strike it's still up. Otherwise just wait for the enemy to fire or if they're calling in a care package drop it on that.

Hunter Killer is very good and almost impossible to take down except by lucky EMP grenades. Also, not sure if they get blown up by flares, but if you aim them at things like stealth choppers they do set off flares.
Personally I use it on HQ & Hardpoint a lot, as well as maps where theres indoor areas or objectives indoors. Indoor areas are great since it won't have air support to target, meaning it will more than likely target a player and get a kill very quickly.
Personal best, I got a 5 man Hunter Killer on Nuketown HQ. That made my day. Never gotten a 4 man that i remember but I've gotten tons of doubles/triples. And these drones are very quick to get.

I learned to be more selective when I use the HK too. The lobbing-heat seeking missile strategy is quite effective, almost guaranteeing a kill. Usually they take out C/UAVs.

Hunter Killer > Warthog.
It has been scientifically proven.

Hunter killer sucks. More than one kill is miraculous. I see doubles quite a lot, as I also see a lot more players running in packs in this iteration of CoD. It's also nice as the default layout. you earn Care Package, toss it in an open area, then toss up the drone. It can save you from having to deal with people who are trying to jack your package.(well enemies, team-mates with black-hat are a PITA) It's one real downfall is the mini-map. When you launch, the icon for it appears and anyone close enough who's smart know's pretty much where you are. I tend to not use it as soon as CUAV and Guardian open up. (I stick with uav though). As mentioned originally, it can function well as a special purpose function. But it's a low # streak, use it or lose it. I tend to pop mine if it seems I have a moment. All the rushing we see those moments can be few and far between.

troll tactic: keep it held until you see someone, then toss it right at their face.

It's good for objective games, but FFA or TDM's..... eh, I'm not convinced. UAV, Hellstorm, Lightning strike is good enough for me.
EDIT: that being said, the idea of holding it until you see someone and throwing it at them is cool.... kinda like a paper airplane from hell

IMO HK is one of most stupid killstreaks.
Basically a free kill, cheap and easy.
where is FUN using that? Predator at least required some aiming ....

I've been playing alot of HQ lately. It is imo one of the most easy ways to level up an entire group of people. Recently I have been running a very odd class that has gotten me a ton of laughs and a ton of consistent kills. It abuses the way that HQ works and the way Hardline/Ghost works. it also abuses the ease of use of the HK which is why I found it to be relevant to this thread.
Here is the class.
xGun (whatever I am leveling up) xattachment (whichever I have available that suits the weapon) Launcher or Pistol Ghost Greed 1 Hardline Toughness Awareness Greed 3 Dex
Now here is the good part. My scorestreaks set up is....
UAV ->RC -> HK
Please notice that I don't use any equipment. The scorestreaks are my equipment. The class is constantly getting these streaks over and over because they are the least expensive. So much so, that they have become an extension of the class. My teammates have commented on that notion as well...
The UAV and HK you can easily throw up and out of objectives. The RC car is a tiny bit more situational and skill based. Now that we have full map knowledge...they are truly amazing. However, I am finding the RC car to really be the star of the show. I generally hum the Gilligan's Island theme while I am driving... I usually run out of the objective. Find a corner. Use the RC. Ghost hides me because of it's ability when you are using Killstreaks. Then I drive to the objective or a choke point....and wait. I can usually get anywhere from 1-3 kills just from the RC car in this manner. I use it like a set C4 with a camera on it. Then, I pop out of my corner and wreck some people who don't think there is a person there because ghost usually only works when the player is moving...
I throw the HK at chokepoints and out windows. If an Enemy KS is bothering me...it is faster than switching to my launcher.
TL:DR
UAV + HK = utility and ease of use. RC Car = situational Ghost cloaking and easy objective defense.
Good stuff.

Hunter Killer is great, and I might prefer it to Hellstorm and Lightning Strike outright. They both have the 'takes you out of the game' aspect. Hellstorm is extra annoying because it seems like after you accelerate it, and split it, you're still stuck staring at the laptop for way too long.
And yes, tossing the Hunter Killer directly at a couple of guys is freaking hilarious.
From stats on Elite seems like I get just over 0.5 kills per HK, and I know a few chase down UAVs and the like. Hellstorm is just under 1, Lightning Strike just under 1.
From the "surprisingly effective file," the Dragonfire is getting me 2.5 kills per use, and seems to be rising, lots of 0 kill Dragonfires early on, a lot more 4-5 kill Dragonfires lately.

When playing TDM, I found Hardline+UAV+HK+CP+Engineer a good combo for aggressive play. Simple, no fuss, and game over if I am lucky enough to get something nice from CP (that can happen from time to time and with Engineer the odds are even better).
Of course, for advanced bros who can easily get longer streaks, this setup is way too crowded, and it takes eternity for CP to drop.

and it takes eternity for CP to drop.
Unless you take the commitment to dropping them in hotspots, then it'll seem like a few seconds. Bonus points for doing this in tandem with Black Hat PDAs.
