(Note: this is an effort for a collaboration based map guide. All I am doing is to start the thread and include an overhead map with callouts. Hopefully other bros can chime in by posting their insights using the callouts, and organically grow this thread into a useful discussion). Hardpoint locations:

On this map, I found the following as the best spots for sound-whoring based area patrol:
1) The area east of #1, south of BRIDGE, west of 2-PATH, and north of #4. At this spot, you can overlook C-Dom canyon, snipe at various overwatch positions on the other side of the bridge, and most importantly, hear players sprinting towards you from a) #1 building, b) 2-PATH, c) BRIDGE, and d) #4 building.
2) The area behind A-Dom and south of RUIN. At this spot you can hear players a) moving around #2 building, b) through the HUMMER PATH, c) TUBE, and d) from RUIN.

IMHO, this map has very good potential for Domination "spawn trapping" at C-DOM, as C-DOM is located in a canyon surrounded by overwatch spots. If done right, the enemies will keep respawning right behind C-DOM and can't easily get out of the trap.

This is such a weird map. It is huge which would favor long range weapons, but yet there are all these boulders and stuff blocking line of sight. They also allow to run a more close quarter weapon, but then you have to run enormous distances to get to an enemy. I think they tried to make a big map suited for most weapons, which didn't work out that well. I don't like this map.

Another cluster map. It's big, but fucking rocks everywhere, so you can't see shit a lot of the time.
I can often nail people coming down west from Control if I'm up around #1.
Also, going into Control by jumping off the railing just south of Temp tends to surprise people.

This map is garbage. It is the one map where footstep sounds actually seem to somewhat work, but not even that saves it.

On of the few (if not only) huge maps, so obviously good (diversity is good). But I agree there is too many rocks.

From what I've played, this is the most lop-sided Domination in the game. The A Flag side gets the high ground watching B, and they can enter B without exposing themselves to C Flag's spawn from the center. Plus the vantage points for snipers/ARs are strong on the A flag, much easier to stop the opposition from flanking than vice versa.
I find the map does favor SRs/ARs pretty well. There are huge lines of sights in the center and coming from the sides toward the middle, and the lines on the sides can be relatively long (especially from the middle of Ruined Path and #2, brain dead sights on B). As an SMG user I find sticking to the "Base" area and the section from there towards the center allows me to limit getting out-gunned.

It is no surprise that this map is hated by many but not all. It is designed to encourage mid-to-long range engagements. It is one of the few maps that SMGs don't dominate.
Overwatchers with AR/LMG/SR+Pistol would enjoy this map, especially assisted by sound-whoring perks + ambush equipments (e.g.: Shock, Betty, etc) that can provide advanced warning against incoming flankers.
Ramp, in particular, is a great overwatch spot, probably the best of all BO2 maps. At any given time you can bank on the fact that somebody is either already there or on his way to get there.
Due to the size of the map, TI is very nice to have for flankers.
