So I just downloaded the last title update, and of course Treyarch did absolutely nothing to fix all the awful sound bugs in this game, including the non-existent enemy footsteps. What a joke.

I'm pretty sure the sound "bugs" aren't on the week 1 priority list. They worry about play-ability first and foremost. You sound a little bitter.... Hey Guy?

Also, Gold has nothing to do with weapon level, so that was not affected at launch. Level does affect prestiging and thus the ability to emboss your emblem and tag on the weapon.

I love getting called a noob by the bad kids on this forum. Sound has been an integral part of the entire Call of Duty series, you fucking idiot. Two perks are broken in this game because of the broken sound, you fucking idiot. It needs to be fixed. It's just one of the many broken things in this game. I guess that makes me a noob for actually demanding a working game that I spent too much money on.

Sound has been an integral part of the entire Call of Duty series...RANT...I guess that makes me a noob for actually demanding a working game that I spent too much money on. No, what potentially makes you a noob is being unable to grasp the concept that sound DOES work in BO2, it's simply not as powerful as you'd like it to be. In the middle of a combat zone you don't get soldiers telling everyone to shush so they can hear footsteps, if that was the case we'd simply give M16's to the blind and tell them to take an enemy encampment... In BO2 you can hear footsteps perfectly well if the background noise level isn't huge (e.g. explosions, gunfire 2ft away etc), even more so with Awareness, but for some reason you can't and have decided to rant about 3ARC because of it. Gun fights will almost always be decided primarily by visual cues as against audio cues hence why there's loads of optical attachments and only 1 sound perk. If all you want is to be able to hear people through walls or from 50ft away in the middle of combat then you're playing the wrong game, and frankly I wouldn't want to play a game that made footsteps louder than gunfire...

I've found that footsteps are perfectly audible with a headset, but any material makes then un-hearable. Basically you have to have line of sight on your enemy to hear them. In other words sound is useless because the only time you will hear it is once you have shot or been shot by whoever you are hearing.
So why do we even have auditory perks if audio is borderline useless?

well actually i can also tell you that he's pretty much said that they're not going to listen to community complaints because "everyone complains about everything in call of duty" all changes are gonna be based on trending. If dead silence gets pretty much zero use then they'll probably make footsteps louder. idfk He also said that they weren't gonna make any changes in the first week or two of the game, since things go crazy in the early days. If they are using just trending then it's going to be funny when the SMGs all get nerfed to hell and the M1216 and saiga get buffed to god mode. Can't wait for the LMG buff to roll around too. Probably the dumbest way possible to "balance" a game. Actually, scratch that, buffing the shotguns and LMGs sounds pretty good.

I've got a nice headset and have tried a set-up in league with awareness and played lots without in 'normal' play.
I disagree about enemy footsteps being audible without awareness. You can hear your own team mates' footsteps, and your own, without awareness. It is not a case of gun noise drowning out footstep sound. I've sat in a quiet area 'listening' hard and heard nothing despite the UAV showing someone very nearby.
However, I have heard enemy footsteps, once - and it was clear - beautifully clear - I was using awareness and he was on a metallic surface. The guy was running up the fallen turbine shaft (on Turbine obviously ) and I was on the raised rocky area to the left. I heard him, was surprised that I could and turned around to see him and killed the ^%&$&.
Only once, and only with awareness, but somewhere in the game mechanic 'enemy footsteps' and 'awareness' do clearly interact in the way they should.

I like how 3arc bragged about how much effort they were putting into sound in BO2, different gunfire sounds in different environments and that sort of thing, when they can't even get footsteps squared away. LOL

Anyone know whether the SMAW now also gets weapon XP for shooting down UAVs? I sure hope so. LOL At least they are consistent - hearing enemy footsteps (without awareness) is practically impossible, but at the same time, a shotgun fired from 10 feet behind you sounds like a muffled shot from halfway across the map.

Made infrastructure and performance improvements to Live Streaming. Made streaming performance improvements to video playback in CODTV. Addressed an issue where flight range parameters for airborne vehicles could be deleted in the middle of a match due to a network interruption. This fix resolves the following symptoms reported by the community: Escort drone flying under the map Inability to call in the Dragonfire FHJ-18 weapon level is now increased by destroying Scorestreak vehicles and aircraft. Care Package/AGR canister exploit has been addressed. Patched a small map exploit in Aftermath. Addressed a rare situation that would cause the Emblem Editor menu to overlap other menus. Balance pass on spawn influencers to improve cases causing non-optimal spawning under certain conditions. Improved performance for emblem uploads to prevent an occasional hang. If there is an error connecting to servers during an upload, you will now be able to re-try your save. Emblems and Clan tags will now appear correctly on the Assault Shield when stowed on the back.
