Simply put: They don't accumulate.
If you don't take your award for a prestige, it won't carry over. Learned this the hard way going from prestige 1 to 2, wanted to keep Ghost class, and didn't take the slot before I prestiged.
Oh, Treyarch.
You are my bro, bro, however this may not apply since this is a secondary account (I forget all details about the previous one.) Edit: Forgot that only applied to Hey, Den.

You can also only have five extra class slots...from ten prestiges. Don't sweat it.
Also, if you reset your stats, you get a calling card (an eraser). If you want that card, reset on your first prestige.

I'm not sure I understand.
I have prestiged twice and I haven't used any permanent unlocks.
I still have 2 permanent unlocks.
Do you mean if you don't open your extra create-a-class you lose it?

He's talking about the Prestige Awards, not the permanent unlocks. Well, there goes my goal of getting all calling cards... and I don't want to reset from Prestige 3...

So... another drawback to custom classes. I wanted to copy a loadout to slot 7 to use it with a different weapon. The copy function only lets you target the first five.... Grrrrrrrr.......

wait wait,
level 55, going for Prestige 1:
I can perm unlock mockery Ghost for blind trolling crazy rushing (I suppose for all prestiges or 3arch wording is more complex?) AND one of 3 "Prestige Awards":
1. extra custom slot OR 2. option to refund unlock tokens anytime (what does it mean "anytime" it 3arch's dictionary? One prestige only? level 55 only? All prestiges incl?) OR 3. option to restet my stats and progress (what do they mean by "option"? how to execute it? when? immediately? whenever I like?)
If I select award No 2 NOW will I lose 1 extra custom slot forever and can have 9 total if prestiging on and on? What if I select no awards?

Like me, if you select no awards, you wont be able to get any.
Option 2 will not override 1.

I was about to prestige my second time without unlocking anything... luckily I thought that this exact situation might happen if I don't use the token. I'm glad I used it lol.

I still believe the "Permanent Unlock" token is safe. I think it is just the opportunity to choose one of the 3 prestige award options (including Create-a-class slot) that you lose.
You can only have 5 extra cac slots, and you can prestige 10 times, so missing it once is not a problem (or even 5 times). But can you imagine having prestiged 10 times and then discovering you can never get all your slots unlocked?
I have the same gripe about the copy class thing. It will only copy to one of your original 5 slots. What's up with that?

Oh that's what you're talking about. Damn, I guess I lost my custom class then. I wanted to save it for later so I could use the default skorpion setup some more. Sad day...
