Been playing this alot
tons of fun not as hard as everyone made it out to be although still alot harder than most action rpgs
the online parts seem buggy right now (on 360)

You are my sunbro, bro
Too bad the 360 community died pretty fast..hardly any summon signs/invasions happening. On the other hand, I'd pretty much suck at this game if I hadn't got that black knight sword early on

Is it simply skill based difficulty(Complicated combat system, dense info, reactions timing ect.) or is it just cheap difficulty(You have low health/DPS, enemies are beef cake, game does cheap shots, ect)?

Column A.
Don't rush in and the game is quite easy.

Dark Souls coming out on PC tomorrow. Now I actually might get it.
BTW is MP essential in Dark Souls?

It's a critical element in the unique feel of the two Souls games.
Summoning allies, Invading as and being invaded by black phantoms, wisps of other players shown passing by you and revealing the last moments of their death, leaving and reading notes on the floor that pass across realities.
Not "essential" but you'll really be missing out.

From looks of it combat seems to be on par w/ the Witcher 2 on Normal difficulty. Edit: I heard that is real console port and will have terrible console resolution

The port is bad, but where From Software in their inexperience with the PC platform have left the game off with an almost 1:1 360 port, there are savvy guys who have in a matter of less than an hour already hacked the game and increased the resolution from its fixed 720p. Other improvements are sure to come from the players themselves.

Just beat this last night.
Outside of the Princess' chambers, I found the message, "Amazing chest ahead."
At first I was puzzled, but then I realized that my greatest regret was that I could only up-vote it once.

Another iconic Gwynevere message is "Try holding with both hands."
Any bros around SL150 wanna get a fight club going some time?

Any bros around SL150 wanna get a fight club going some time? I was invaded once. And promptly had my ass handed to me. Probably doesn't help that I'm pure tank and move as fast as molasses in December. On crutches.

Not a fan of any game made by Japan. I can't stand the way they make games (the style, gameplay).
Oh, except Soul Calibur.

I recommmend sticking strictly to PVE in your first playthrough then mess around with PVP later. The experience is usually better that way.
A few heads ups for anyone beginning dsk1:
Most bosses are weak to you hugging their butthole. Completely ignore the resistance stat, don't ask just do it. If you get a black knight sword beeline for its required stats right away. Farm before fighting ornstein and smough. Be wary of giant dads invading.

I actually just started playing this, now ancient, game so I thought I'd necro the thread. heh ;3
Quite enjoying it, though I'm still pretty terrible at the game. The hardest part so far... just getting the gorram thing to work! heh I spent days trying to get either my Razer Sabertooth or PS4 controllers to work with no results then spent another day or more trying to get my mouse to work. I was eventually only able to get mouse to work without the DSMFix, which basically means the game plays for shite. With DSMFix I think it would have been playable, but without it very no bueno. I nearly gave up then took one more stab at it and disabled a thing my keyboard software installed that I never use and bango presto! Now my PS4 controller works perfectly, (which is great because the old 360 feels weird in my hands now). Yup... the game it-self is the first boss of the game and prepared me well for actually playing since it went exactly the same way... it was extremely tedious with multiple failures and setbacks over and over until finally achieving a small victory... which just opens up the path to the next challenge. ;p
So far my first few hours were pretty terrible. I actually did pretty good until finally getting out of the asylum. I died here and there, mostly because I was trying to learn and practice on enemies I know would be the easy ones and generally learning stuff the hard way as per usual. I finally got a bit tripped up when having to face skeletons two at a time. So, many, deaths... But I experimented... a LOT. Trying to parry was pretty suicidal and fighting two at once REALLY changes things. But I learned to try to protect my exit strategy back out of kiting range and also learned a lot about blocking and backstabbing, ect...
Then I got to next area where they don't die and had to start building a new strategy. heh Of course in the process I also finally discovered I got a new weapon... a lovely mace that isn't hugely more damage than my scimitar, but tends to knock the skeletons down. It just pwns them now. lawl Basically stunlocks... though that's less useful when they just get back up. But I'm working on it. I think I just have to kill the guy that throws flames and then I'll be able to use the bonfire in his room. We'll see.
I'm kinda liking this whole trial and error thing. We'll see if I stick with it.
