Hey Denizens,
I took a long break to immerse myself in post-Extended Content patch Mass Effect, and school and work and boring stuff like that. I am almost done with school, and Armored Kill is coming out soon... so is anyone getting back into the game? Or have you been seduced by other offerings?

I'd play if I had DLC but the price is just retarded.

not if you used a brazilian VPN I'll check out the DLC, but so far I'm dissappointed in both the game and how DICE is handling post-launch. I don't expect much.

I still play somewhat. CQ was a nice distraction (and a great place for grind), but I'd rather play "normal" BF. Not sure about AK, but hey, already paid for it I guess.

I guess I would play more, but the guys I play with haven't been playing at all lately. Come AK and/or the next patch, everyone should have their interest renewed for a couple weeks at least. Meanwhile I will play other stuff.

If it makes you feel any better my W/L is less than 1.2 after 86 hours playing this darn thing

OH JUST YOU WAIT!!! Imma bring my 1.7 W/L to this discussion!
Also, I will complain about GG meaning you beat everyone or you lose.
And I will complain about playing on 64 man servers, where 63 other people dictate whether I win or lose just as much as I do :3

I haven't played much since that gun patch before the CQ map pack, but I spent a lot of time as a recon spotting, harassing and roadkilling with the MAV.143 kills and 700 spot assists total (for comparison, my top weapon is the G3 at about 230 kills). It's gotten me kicked from a good few servers.
What I'm saying here is my team sucks and I hate them

If it makes you guys feel all optimistic and inspired, when I lose games other than because I join a server and it instantly says "your team lost" or when my squad is on the other side, it's almost always a rush game that a single squad is running single-handedly. What I'm saying is if you have 3 friends and read my amazo-fantastico rush guide you can win all ur games even if you're on incredible clown teams
64 conquest though yeah idk is that even a game

Not only is 64 man conquest a game, it's THE ONLY THING WORTH PLAYING! There is nothing like beating 63 other players to make you feel like this.

This expansion makes me want to be better at vehicles. Though, choppers are MUCH easier to take out with Below Radar not applying to infantry-launched missiles.

i don't know how raxcoswell does it..i follow his tips to the letter, and i'm not terrible at the actual killing stuff part. but often enough my team manages to zergrush into the enemy defenses like the bloody yanks at omaha so hard that we are out of tickets before i've even ever had two or so runs at an mcom also, i want to say something about the balance on rush in AK. what?! seriously. WHAT?! *shakes fist at attackers ac-130*

SheWolf: I wouldn't play any AK rush maps. Too much AC-130. It's balanced on Conquest.

Yeah, Rush in AK is garbage. Defenders have little chance against the armored onslaught, and the AC-130 provides overpowered spawn potential (on top of unparalled plant defense).
The rest of it is...okay I guess. I mean if vehicles are your thing, you'll have a grand time. For infantry, if you're not packing rockets, C4, or SOFLAM, then you're going to have a bad time. The maps are mediocre at best. Unless you have a vehicle (a real one), you're not going anywhere. Hoofing it or driving a jeep/ATV across the massive space between objectives is suicide. There are so many tanks and helis, not to mention the AC-130 that can deliver instant death at any moment.
Overall I don't care for AK one bit. I've played enough rounds of it that I won't be doing it again without a party. Don't let my opinion bother you though, as I knew I wasn't going to like AK from the start. Pure vehicle play is just not my thing. My only real complaint with AK is that it's going to make regular servers more rare. Although hopefully all the stupid instant vehicle spawn servers will move over to AK and leave the rest of the maps alone.

The maps are really really good! The gameplay can be really good too. Operation Armored Shield (or whatever it is) is most prone to baseraping, and Alborz Mountain is a bit barren, but Death Valley is a perfect map for me (good mix of infantry, undulating terrain, and NO SUN), and Bandar Desert is amazing, bright, beautiful, hectic, and unforgiving.
If there was a server rotating those two maps, I would play AK all day.
Really, 64m conquest on these maps is just so damn fun. Until your team gets steamrolled. But YOU can help: if you want to play on-foot, go to the bunched-up objectives and fend off other infantry. If you want to cruise around in a Tank Destroyer, hit those isolated, distant objectives. Sometimes, it's hard to make an impact when you have 31 friends and 32 enemies to contend with, but I have been getting used to this since launch. It takes persistence and tenacious defense at key flags, and you can really turn it around.
Plus, just wait til you unlock the TOW on Tank Destroyers. Killing tanks in the front in 4 seconds is just bloody satisfying.

Huh, I just tried to play BF3 on PS3. Downloading a patch takes 40 minutes. Yeah, great way to make me NOT play your game.

My brother's Xbox has 10GB's of Battlefield 3 data on it. It's fucking ridiculous.
Just one of the many reasons why Battlefield 3 sucks.

When I bought my new Radeon 7850 video card I got a product key for Far Cry 3. I traded it for Battlefield 3 a few weeks ago.
I don't have any DLC and I don't plan on getting it. Most of the time I use Night Vision 870 with extended magazine and slugs because trying to kill any other way is too unreliable in this game. Add me on Origin or Steam (preferably Steam, because I always have Steam running and I launch BF3 from Steam anyways), my name on here is the same as on Steam and Origin.

I don't doubt the weapon setups ability, but still. Any other way? Whenever I use an assault rifle or non-bipod LMG and get a steady bead on someone, they seem to still be able to kill me anyways much of the time, especially If I'm not using the AEK. I'm used to CoD where whatever I aim at just dies. The 870's slugs also seem to be one hit kills to the arms, which is important because a significant amount of upper body shots I pull off with other similar one shot kill weapons like the sniper rifles and the M26 Slugs aren't one hit kills within ranges where they should be.

Yeah, pump slugs are superior to bolts when it comes to close range, which is how it should be. Although the M26 uses pump slugs as well. Could just be bad luck.
