Thought that I would post this footage for non Beta Bros just to give you an idea of the scale of Planetside 2. This pitched battle between the Vanu Sovereignty (defending) and the New Conglomerate lasted hours, and took part on just one small part of one continent.
I'm playing Engi, initially just spamming with my turret, but after I die, I switched out to my Ligntning Skyguard (light tank with flak cannon; deadly against aircraft).
NC eventually won the day, but it was at huge cost; a pyrrhic victory if ever there was one.

Also, I don't know if I've said this yet, but nighttime battles look foxtrotting awesome.

YOU GUYS I HAVE AN IDEA WE NEED TO TAKE THE VANU FROM BEHIND IS BETTER Yeah I was cringing at times, watching inept Galaxy pilots get blown out of the sky by the defnders. And the endless line of ant like inverse lemmings throwing themselves up the cliffs to certain death! Apparently there is a clip of this battle form the defender's perspective; will post if I find it.

I was quoting a guy on your team from the text chat. Apparently the back of the mountain is too steep, though.
I'd love to see it from another perspective if you can find a video.

I've been on the defending side a couple of times since then; we got overwhelmed once as there were just 4 of us, and most of them cleared off once the going got tough.
Different story second time though; we were able to beat off several airborne attacks. MAX + 2 x AA "Burster" guns = deadly; those Galaxy multikills are smile inducing indeed ;D. Also very easy to defend against ground attack; there appears to be only one way up the cliff, and only jetpack equipped Light assaults can manage the climb.
Unfortunately I didn't capture this on video; will try to remember to do so tonight.
I reckon that the best chance for an attacking squad is for a spawn beacon equipped squad leader to sneak in by Scythe onto a rear landing pad whilst the rest of the squad (and others) make a suicidal frontal airborne assault. Would have to be well co-ordinated though. Alternatively, just leave the defenders alone for half an hour or so; they'll probably get bored and move on.
The problem with running as a MAX + 2 x burster is that, although you are absolutely lethal against aircraft (possibly OP), you are utterly useless at anything else; very much a one trick pony.
(MAX = Mechanised Assault Exoskeleton to those that don't know the game - think mech suit in District 9 or Avatar)
