I hate anything and everything that gives tunnel vision. So no variable zoom, target finder, and, because of its large frame, EOtech. But I do like enhanced zoom. So although I enjoy acog, it reduces my field of vision greatly. Is there a solution? HYBRID SIGHT. GREATEST THING EVER IN THIS GAME. Both reticles are very usable and since the switch is immediate, there honestly is no point in using acog or reflex in this game. Reflex maybe, since the reflex exterior is larger, but hybrid sight acog is almost identical. I don't see the point of using a target finder. If you increase sharpness, object depth, contrast, and flesh tone contrast, you can see most people easily at any distance moving or non-moving. I don't think I've ever had an encounter where I thought "gosh darn golly gee whiz, if I had target finder, I would've definitely had the drop on him" Because of this, I do not find the target finder overpowered. First off, I agree that the hybrid sight is cool. Nevertheless, by the time you've switched from one sight to the other.... you'd be be running cold blooded, or you're dead. Yes, there are exceptions to the rule (your skill, opponant skill) but target finders ssososososo common, that if you aren't running coldblooded, you're at a disadvantage. Secondly, and this might just be for LMG's, but the hybrid sight is unlocked last or second last (it's rapid fire, hybrid, dual band.... but I forget which order it's in) and the Target finder is 6th and very easy to get.... why grind to a sight when you have a sight that does the work for you, unlocked so early? Thirdly, you honestly don't see the benefit of red triangles alerting you that someone is there? Or more importantly, if you're adsing and about to run in a direction (say, by the boats in Hijacked) , and you see 3 enemy red triangles run out in the distance.... and that's not benefical to you?

My biggest issue with TF is not that I love using it, but I hate the fact that without it I am at big disadvantage when AR dueling with a TF user :-) I would love to use Cold Blooded to neutralize that, but at my current stage of the game Toughness is a necessity.
Things get even rougher when against LMG w/TF. The guy does not even bother to aim, just spray the bullets in the general direction of diamond is often enough for a kill.
TF is kinda like the new noobtube. Before long we will have to come up with a mask word for it similar to "skill cannon": say "skill sight" :-)

I don't think it gives any actual advantage in gunfights; it just helps you start them faster. That's useful, but hardly gamebreaking. I only really use it in hardcore (to find campers) and on LMGs (you have to be ADSed already a lot of the time).

agreed. Unless you're permanently walking around ADSed with stalker or tactical loitering an objective with an LMG TF doesn't give that big of an advantage.

Because of that it's great for people who can burst fire their LMGs decently. It's best with the ranger drop reticle. Dual Band > Target Finder Dualband may as well be renamed the anti-headglitcher-sight.

Collecting stats this way is not necessarily bad. If you are using a sight, you do want to see how effective it is in gun fights that you ADS'ed. I see where you're coming from. However, you can't find similar ironsight stats to compare the sights with. The closest ones I can think of are quickdraw and stock, so that might be another comparison. It's not a fair comparison at all though, and they aren't mutually exclusive either.

HAve you tried giving up your tacticals to use the wildcard? I used to miss them a lot and still keep a class with them, but try that, and you just might like it. Make 2 of the same class setups, but in the 2nd one, replace your tacticals and throw on cold blooded. This way, if you are still getting buttwhooped, you can just change classes instead of watching the killcam. Or are you already using the perk 2 greed wildcard on something else (scavenger?) In which case, nevermind

The trouble is I found myself needing perk 1 greed as first priority, perk 3 greed as second priority, then perk 2 greed. Not to mention I also want to have primary gunfighter from time to time, or backup pistols. What I need is more points, or more custom loadout slots :-)

Perk 2 Greed is my first priority wildcard. Scav+Toughness is necessary on a crap ton of guns for me.

2/3 of the way through EOTech master run, thoughts:
1) EOTech is cool :-). I like it on both SMGs and ARs.
2) EOTech challenge run can give you some easy XPs. For 125 ADS kills, you'll be rewarded with 15,000 XPs. So even if you don't like it, at least use it for a few games to get the cheap points.
3) Last night I think that I found my weapon to be semi-permanently married to EOTech: Chicom. By putting EOTech on Chicom, it feels like a lightweight AR. I would certainly prefer it than SWAT, and maybe even M8A1.
It does not have burst delay, so you can spam the trigger as fast as possible and achieve the illusion of "almost" automatic with 1250RPM. That's insanely fast.
I like to run Chicom w/EOTech+LS. For CQC, just hip spray. For mid range, ADS, line up your shots, and spam trigger. For long range, control your bursts to allow time for re-center and aim adjustment.
Number of trigger pull rules of thumb: at least twice, recommend >= 3 times just to be safe.
Chicom vs. Skorpion: similar CQC strengths, but much more forgiving in terms of mag size. 36 bullets = 12 bursts, enough to kill 3-4 enemies without reload, can stretch to 5 if you are really good or lucky. With Skorpion (32 bullets at RPM of 1250 with much more recoil) I can barely get 2.
It is now my 3rd favorite SMG behind PDW and MSMC.
By extension, I am also pondering Vector w/SF + ..., which also has 1250RPM in burst mode, and hopefully better recoil.

I don't run optics on anything but precision weapons since they are the only ones where I get a noticeable improvement. I love the hybrid optic, rds, holo, and acog are alright. The target finder is pretty good, but I prefer the versatility of the hybrid. I don't think the target finder deserves it's bad reputation. It's certainly no hbs.

The reason I don't use target finder is posted above. I get no peripheral, and I hate that. And sure, the red diamonds help, but it's not like I can't find enemies otherwise. Long hallway on hijacked, just like you said. My TV's flesh tone saturation makes people a bit reddish so they stick out. I see them easily even at long ranges. Sure, target finder makes it much easier by tracking them with a giant square, but it's not that great. Other than corner campers too stupid to use cold blooded, there's not much benefit for me personally. Also, regarding acog/hybrid sway difference: Like there's really a fucking difference. Sway with acog on assault rifles/lmgs: none. Sway with hybrid on assault rifles/lmgs: very little. Even more so after that last patch. You're trying to tell me that little sway is worth having no reflex?

The only use for tf I can find is for countersniping. Which is null because sniping sucks in bo2 TF is epic win with LMGs. Havent tried it on ARs, but imo it stinks horribly on SMGs.

The lack of sway makes it a lot easier to pick off players across the map for ranges where I would want to use ACOG sight instead of a reflex sight.

Post by -3055- on Jan 22, 2013 9:56:28 GMT -5
As apposed to very little sway. the difference is negligible. Have you ever used hybrid? especially on assault rifles, ever since they reduced sway even more with that last patch.
And how often do you see people at "long ranges"? Long range engagements rarely ever happen anymore. you'd need a reflex sight more often than an acog. It's a legitimate argument, but not really a practical one in this game.

Agreed.... and throw LMG's in that mix too.... 3 or 4 kills and you unlock it right off the bat, ride it to level 6 where you get the target finder and never look back. The EOTech does give some sweet xp and it's not too hard to do either. I loved it on MW3, but for some reason, I don't much care for it in BOps2. The biggest reason, and it might seem petty, but I think they made the physical sight bigger. Not the sight that you look through, but the edges of it... I dunno, but I don't remember it being like that in MW3.

I've mastered all the optic challenges for the xp.
MMS: to begin with I was really distracted by the pulsing and because you pretty much know where everyone is going to be it actually delayed my thought process. Combined with FMJ though and this thing Foxtrotting rapes campers on certain maps. Slums for instance....Foxtrot a duck this lights up the campers like the 4th of July.
Dual Band: I think some people will get on with this and some won't. I'm not a massive fan, it doesn't really suit my playstyle.
Target Finder: I can see why people think it's overpowered but it isn't really. I rage when I get killed by it but it's only the Foxtrotting noobs who use it and I guess they need some help.
Reflex: Underrated on certain maps. Iron sights can be naturally screen filling so some clarity, especially for distance engagements, is useful.
Acog: Again, doesn't really fit my playstyle but for sniper lite maps (Carrier) it's a happy medium.
EOTech: Don't really understand that point of this sight, didn't help or hinder me compared to the reflex.
Hybrid: Pretty fun to use actually, I don't really need the scoped version as I'm not blind but I still use it to pretend that I'm sniping.

I thought that it doesn't let you use MMS with FMJ, maybe I am wrong, I haven't gotten MMS for anything yet so I am not sure. It's just what I have read
I like the ACOG a lot in this game though, I tried using it in MW2/3 a lot, but I didn't really like it on many of the guns. I have just tried ACOG with the MTAR, and it is pretty fun to use. I also like the EOTech more than the Reflex on LMGs for some reason, maybe it is just the reticules or I like the shape more.

In Y2K12, I remember shooting through walls and scratching people... in 13, I kill quite easily.

I've just had better connection recently, less BS games, so what you see on your screen actually happens.
And since so much stuff can be shot through FMJ improves your odds significantly.

Because it's not actually an attachment?
If you're talking about the ballista then... I don't know what to tell you. It's fun, sure, but I wouldn't say "best". Attachment-wise, just the ballistics cpu along with variable or dualband seems like a much better choice.
And for snipers, XPR for spammability, DSR for damage.
