In case anyone missed it, Sakurai revealed Toon Link on this, the Japanese release of The Wind Waker HD. (We actually got it before them!) Personally, I'm ecstatic, but this announcement has sundered many standard, and I might add, stupid arguments from the more cynical group of Smash speculators. I take delight that their failure is revealed to them, they do not know Sakurai well at all it seems.

Toon Link? Why? Why? Why? Why? The spot could easily be filled with an actually unique character.

Sakurai > You To think that he's taking a 'slot' from anyone is foolish, if he does turn out to be so clone-y, and even if he is not clone-y, it takes much less time and money and manpower to develop and insert Toon Link than it does a brand new, 'unique' character, don't kid yourself. Toon Link is justified, for he is here.

The Nintendo Direct that revealed him, with a cool video at around 8:13
Also, Sonic is now Nintendo's whore. Not really, but hey, they're being super buddy buddy nowadays, I suspect this will continue for some time.

GUESS WAHT!? Pokémon X and Y worldwide release Saturday, and Sakurai only updates the dojo site Monday-Friday at 3:00 A.M. Central. Nothing was revealed. HAH, just like I guessed, no Mewtwo reveal, even though there were a couple of leak screenshots that were very convincing. So, is there going to be a direct for the Awakened form Mewtwo? Who knows if or when he'll show up? One thing is for sure, Jigglypuff is coming back, we'll have to see what happens to Lucario and PKMN. Trainer. Edit: Sakurai's daily updates are also quite entertaining, he has a little comment with each one too: Smashbros.com has the daily image thing and a link to the permanent image on Miiverse where Sakurai has a little blurb too. Example: Today's: Dat Posterior:

I'm a bit late, but Big House 3 pools got over today, I caught the tail end for the last 5 hours. Toph beat M2K 2-0 because M2K was sandbagging with Mewtwo and Roy. Finals and more pools tomorrow, as well as a special Project: Melee announcement, maybe they're finally putting Mewtwo in Brawl, I mean heck, they added Roy recently. Or maybe the devs finally figured out how to make Samus, Kirby, or Yoshi work :/ As you folks know, Melee is arguably the deepest fighting game ever created, and a documentary was created recently. I found it interesting, check it out! Just as well, Wobbles, the man who got second place at EVO 2013 with Ice Climbers (!!!) has quit Melee to focus more on commentating and writing. He has a great blog about game design, and in particular has been demonstrating and illustrating what depth is, how it is desirable etc., and many other finer details, some lost things in the recent game's game design philosophy. I've only read the recent October post so far, though. :3 www.compete-complete.com/

it is probably going to be mega lucario being revealed. (Minor Spoiler for XY to follow)
Mega Lucario plays a key role in the main storyline for XY and is the first pokemon you are able to mega-evolve.

Yes, following Sakurai talking about how much he hates cutting veterans, Lucario is the safer bet. It seems here though that Mewtwo's awakened form is his final smash, and it would most likely be the same way with Lucario. If he was revealed it would probably be just another veteran reveal along with a spotlight on his final smash, but if Mewtwo were to return. . .

Indeed. Thanks for posting... I couldn't stop watching as I followed a lot of these guys as Smash Tournament videos started getting uploaded to YouTube back in the early days of YouTube.

Man, I feel left out that I was awakened to the scene so late. I have very few memories of my childhood, but I believe my first exposure was after I had beat every single event match, every single story mode achievement possible, and gotten days in against level 9s, I really didn't play with anyone after I became more distant with my old friends. I think really there is a distinct story to each childhood that molds most of us for a few years as we flex about. No, I remember now, my first exposure was after my old friend said something about the only character I hadn't unlocked yet (Mewtwo I believed?), and I went to the internet seeking advice. It was strange, coming to GameFAQs, and I wasn't exposed to actual professional play until a few years before Brawl. At that point I just looked forward to Brawl. It was scary now that I look back on it, so sheltered from these communities, pretty much every community, me not identifying with or hanging out with anyone, but with everyone. Gah, this is a stupid story and I have no idea where I'm going with my rambling. Anyways, I was wondering when the feels would start. The feels hit me really really hard 1-3 months ago when I finally beat boss battles Intense, and farmed for the last few stickers. This was it, I said to myself, after all this time I'd discovered the tournament scene only five or six years prior, and here I am finally sitting by myself after beating so many people in Basic Brawl and my old friends. It didn't look like I had much choice but to become a Stream Monster. Of course my life was not so nearly associated with Smash as it was for these folks, but my gosh. I can tell you I don't remember a single match of the possibly hundreds of thousands of matches in 64, Melee, and now Brawl, but I know video games in general had been a large part of my life, truly that and later my faith were the only two things I had ever committed on in my life after they were introduced. Do I wish I had friends I would call up every week to talk to? Somewhat, but I feel that time had passed as my addiction had grown. I can't even analyze the rest of it, but it's always sitting there.
This feeling in my chest hit me hard as it had the previous years through all the discovery and remembrance. This time my heartache was directed at this documentary, and in particular the M2K episode. As one Youtube comment said: "Watching episode 7 right after being at big house 3 is amazing. Just watching and remembering M2K's downfall but knowing that years after something clicked, he rebooted and took out HBox with no trouble at all, perfect movement, not lame and campy...just the right option all of the time. Watching him jump up and be happy for once with everyone cheering him on, it was awesome." Good doo-doo, Smash community, good doo-doo.

Are you retarded? There's no way Marth WOULDN'T return. :3 He looks super sexy too, and I am very happy that he has the FE11 boots and armor. Also, his hair is most like FE12 and. . . well, dunno. This is awesome, I really love the art direction of the game, particularly with the colors, that brown on the boots doe, the gold and the red doe. Also holy doo doo, Sakurai has made like 3 shipping images already with Peach.

Oh sheet of paper on my desk. Sakurai just revealed this beaut: "Pic of the day. A new stage, Mario Galaxy!! The pull of gravity emanates from the center of the planet, so this will require using brand-new tactics." Everybody knows physics are the most important part of Smash, as a fighting game. This is the neatest map to be released since forever. Lylat was my favorite for its tilting in Brawl. Here's hoping you can run around the whole planet (though I highly doubt this, it will probably autoscroll, and stalling would be super easy/op, and you could only KO vertically, and the brain trying to convert the controls when upside down).
