Anyone hear of Chess 2? They added a new rule to prevent stalemates where if the king reaches the enemy's half of the board without walking into a check they win the game. The game also incorporates 5 new factions:
CLASSIC - The only faction that can castle.
NEMESIS - Pawns can move side-to-side and can attack side-to-side, but only towards the enemy king. - Queens cannot capture enemy pieces, cannot be captured, but can still threaten the enemy king.
EMPOWERED - Rooks, Knights, and Bishops that are adjacent to one another can share the powers of their adjacent ally. This applies to corner-to-corner connections as well. - The queen moves like a king
REAPER - The Queen can teleport to any position on the board. She can't teleport into the opponent's back line or capture the opponent's king this way - Rooks can teleport to any open square on the board, but can't attack or be captured.
TWO KINGS - Your queen is now a second king - The king can perform an attack that destroys every piece adjacent to it- friendly or opponent piece alike. - If one of your kings are checkmated you lose. Winning by entering the enemy's half of the board requires BOTH kings have to be on the other side.
ANIMAL - Knights can capture friendly pieces - Bishops can only move 2 squares diagonally, but if they capture an enemy piece they can retreat to the square they attacked from - Rooks can only move 2 squares. If they capture a piece they keep going until they hit the edge of the board while capturing every other piece in the way. They can capture friendly pieces this way. - Queens are rook/knight hybrids instead of rook/bishop hybrids.

I beat probaddie with a rook sac once. I just felt like it and he imploded. Not proud of that win I did nothing to earn it.

It's good to look at lots of grandmaster games because they're the ideal players to model your play on. You need to see lots of positions to get good this way (tens of thousands of games) the idea is that pattern recognition will get help you to play better positionally. What pieces want to go to which squares? You need to do tactics puzzles too, and be prepared to analyse your own games. Openings are the last thing you study, pick solid ones to get you started and then pick up more openings later. You want to make mistakes and lots of them. Looking at the recent game, Carlsen Gelfand, Carlsen emmerging from his time off from the World Championship win, is this game. (skip to 30 minutes)
I'll be the first to say I'm a noob at chess, and I'm sure probaddie would say the same. You have to learn a lot to get good at chess, but if you just want to screw around that's ok too.

Empowered looks frightening. Rook + bishop = 2 extra queens. Rook + knight will be Foxtroting awesome to get past pawn chains and infiltrate with a rook. Knight + bishop is good in endgames where you need to switch a bishop to another colour. Also I took this fun test I found off reddit and came up with grinder. Don't let people get discovered attacks on the king guys, it's hazardous to your health.

I wonder who would be more likely to win: a match where a player had 8 pawns, 6 knights, and a queen/king or the same setup with 6 bishops?
Also I'm a noob at chess; all I know is that it's about thinking ahead and making good trades while keeping up aggression.

Also I'm a noob at chess; all I know is that it's about thinking ahead and making good trades while keeping up aggression. Probably the bishops in an open postition, and it would be easy to get such an open position because pawns can be easily sacked to create holes for bishops to sit in and target. The knights will want to stop the pawns advancing, and because bishops can now support each other from attacks, their greater overall mobility will prove an advantage over the knights in my opinion. But who knows? The easiest way to answer this is to start a game between two engines like stockfish and Houdini.

So? What's your point? I've beaten probaddie 5 times. Having beaten someone is not a reason not to play them again.
