any price increase in the stock was probably due to just silly emo reasons. It's not like anything relevant new info came out today, that hasn't already been built into the pricing of the stock in the past year.

The rally in SNE today has almost nothing to do with the xbox event. Definitely wasnt ideal timing for MSFT, but the event wasnt the reason for the jump.

The stock price hikes for Sony in the past two days was mostly because of their new 4K televisions being released.

I don't think I like the idea of games being DL only. Is this the case here or can I still go out and purchase the disc?

One of the things I am most curious about is going to be the integration of "alternative" controls for games (basically using it as a catch-all for anything in a game not done via the traditional buttons/joysticks on a controller).
PS4 has the touchpad built in on the controller itself. I dont really know how this could be used in a game like COD, where everything is so fast paced, unless it was used as an extra button, and just a tap would activate it. However, in slower paced more RPG-esque games, I think it could be a cool addition. Useful perhaps in solving puzzles, unlocking doors, things of that nature that require super precise movements. aside from that, does PS4 come with a camera sensor such as kinect? anything in the works.
XB1, as far as the controller, seems to have kept it almost the same as now. slightly different ergonomics, but i didnt immediately see new buttons or anything. That being said, every console will now have a kinect, and I heard them mention it will be active during gameplay. i think the quote was "if you raise your controller, your character in game will raise their shield". I have mixed feelings about this level of integration. on one hand, it is pretty fucking cool on the surface, that my physical actions are translated to the game. on the other, more practical side, do i really want to be forced to move around that much, especially during marathon game sessions? is there going to be a way to perform those movements on the controller instead? overall i think its an awesome idea on paper, just depends on the implementation of it. I am sure at first it will be gimmicky and not an issue. but down the line i hope developers find innovative ways to use it.

Xbox, watch my dog while I'm out and play a loud sound if he's about to take a shit in the house.

Nice thread mousey. I still can't decide which to get. I have always had the playstation console before but if the general consensus on here is for the Xbox then I might be swayed.

yeah, it seems like more people are going towards the PS4. I don't know if I'll get either of them, but so far I am probably closer to getting a PS4

It was pretty lame all around. I'm glad I didn't watch it live, you know it was boring when everyone is raving about a foxtrotting dog.
500gb harddrive is such a joke too, we know it's easy to offer 1TB, Microsoft...

Seems like a good size. Most will go nowhere near that usage, so why waste the money? I managed 60gb for a gaming pc for about a year. Wasn't easy, but it worked...albeit with good internet. Now I'm fine on 240gb. 500gb would be well over my desires for a console/media device.

Sony will loss more traction to MS again with this release. It's to bad, I loved Sony and believe they are better tech dev by a land slide but they just can't make it work any more. MS will kill PS4 off and by the next product cycle MS will start to lose traction to another new console (not Sony). Just my 2 cents.

Microsoft has always had a slight edge over Sony but this time I think the playing field is much more even.

I don't know if I'll get either of them, but so far I am probably closer to getting a PS4 I expect M$ will be keeping something back, hidden away to suprise Sony at the last minute. But if PS4 still looks the strongest by the end of the year then Im happy to upgrade to that from my PS3.

Right now I'm definitely leaning towards the PS4. Xbox One requiring any form of internet connection to use it is far too restricting. I may not end up getting either of them if Sony opts for the same anti used game strategy as well.

I love XBox. I love XBox Live. I love the controller. This is the first conference I've watched for any company that made me actually, genuinely sad. Beyond that... the confirmation that games are to be tethered to an account just hurt. I'm not the richest guy in the world. Many of the games I've played I have borrowed and I have let other people borrow my games. That is pure idiocy to deprive the gamer of that most basic kind of sharing. In addition they are leaning towards the "always online" DRM bit... That scares me. We all know how awesomely that can turn out...
Look.
I understand Microsofts strategy of trying to market to the average entirety of the family...not just little Timmy who wants to play his Call of Dooties. They want to have the TV in there. The ESPN. The DVR. I get that. I have no problem with that.
I wanted XBOX to be amazing. I want PS4 to be amazing. Competition is good. Its good for the consumer. Its good for the company and the future of the gaming industry.
However, I'm going to be trying to be actively trying to convince my friends to switch to PS4 in the next few months if there is no change made by Microsoft. And I think I would be perfectly happy there... My first legitimate video games were Crash Bandicoot and Tomba (amazing amazing game...apparently very rare) done by none other than Sony. I would have no problem being the prodigal son.
But, of course, like the sheep that I am, I will buy an XBOX if none of my friends vote with their wallets either.

This might come in handy. You mustn't have been here long, one of the seven deadly forum sins is to post a video from WoodysGamertag, Tmartn, or any other youtuber that thinks that they know how to play the game better than anyone else.

I'm confused by people saying that they're leaning towards PS4 based upon what's been revealed so far, particularly those in the US. It seemed to me that the Xbox basically revealed all of the same features that the PS4 did, plus voice control, plus all of the TV features, plus Skype, plus the NFL content. What is the reasoning behind the support for the PS4 over Xbox?

Don't have to worry about loaning/buying used games?

Don't have to worry about loaning/buying used games? Online access is part of the price, which has not been revealed for either system yet. I'm not sure what you're worried about with the "always on kinect thing". Care to elaborate? What makes you think the DRM scheme/used game system isn't going to be relatively consistent across both platforms?

If Microsoft forces it, every developer will use it on PS4 as well. The era of used games is over.
