Are they anything like beta battlefield 3 or are they just too much recoil large ammo capacity assault rifles that's not really worth using? I didn't really get the best impression of them in the beta and wonder if they really are any good at all or you should just run a carbine instead.
Thinking about buying this game and I'm a big fan of the LMG class, loved Bad Company 2 to death, wasn't a huge fan of BF3, not too sure about BF4 but I was really disappointed by that other FPS game.

They have a tiny bit more recoil than assault rifles, slightly less accuracy but increased suppression and bigger mags. They're great weapons.
The bipod seems to be even buggier than BF3, so that kinda hurts them.

They're a lot more accurate than in BF3, so they're quite decent out of bipod. People who use the U-100 (starter LMG) wrong like to talk crap about it, but it's a very effective midrange weapon that also matches the accuracy of ARs. The only thing that would make LMGs better is if we had either a highish RPM or 34-25 mag fed option. The ones we have now are too slow, and they're definitely bad at close range.

An akimbo attachment can work, too.

The M249 (and MG4, they're pretty much identical with different recoil patterns) fire pretty fast and are pretty versatile because of that, try those.
Also, not sure yet (even symthic isnt AFAIK) but the ergo grip / vertical grip (the one that says it reduces hip spread by 50%) might also reduce your spread while ads and straving. That's big for LMGs, since they looks a lot of accuracy while not standing completely still.

According to a recent video by XfactorGaming LMGs cause stronger flinch, and this is more notable with faster-firing LMGs regardless of their damage module.
