Couldn't be arsed to wait two more days so here's the topic. Being self-explanatory, what are your goals to better yourself in the long-term? I try not to think big.
- Get a drivers' license. - Become a better artist. - Better my eating habits.
Now it's your turn... happy New Years! Or soon, anyway.

I resolve to attend some weekday masses and spend at the least an hour in adoration every week. I also resolve to read the books present before me to grow in wisdom and knowledge.
I commit myself to becoming more courageous: I will give and not count the cost; I will fight and not heed the wounds; I will work and ask for no reward, Save that of knowing I am doing His will.

I'm gonna see if I can find myself a girl to date. Not how this prayer goes. Do you even Saint Ignatius?

Haha. While I wasn't hounding on your thing, point taken. There's a lot of stock responses one could have for this sort of thing.
At the least, though, we can make this broader in a sense there's more defined goals that are personal to everyone, like working on my art or laedriks' weekly masses. Stuff that can be within grasp, whilst not being wholly generic/unrealistic. Might as well focus on that.

Not how this prayer goes. Do you even Saint Ignatius? Nuh-uh! I totally modified it to be a declaration/resolution! It's probably one of my favorite prayers. I bet even the version I have is off in a few ways. Different accounts of the same prayer and interpretations (not so much errors) in the translation, you know how it is~ Anyways, I think it's kind of silly not to resolve to better oneself. We should all strive for the highest heights, no? This hope for the future must be combined with humility, lest it fall into presumption, arrogance, and sloth about the assurance of one's completion, all of which hamper progress severely. Humans are frail things after all. This must also be combined with courage and perseverance, and that's what Ignatius's prayer is all about, courage. If we don't have courage, we will not act upon opportunity, likewise without perseverance, we will not act on our own resolve for any significant amount of time. One thing that I find most well-intentioned people universally agree on are the virtues, we should then strive for them towards balance and fulfilling the duties of our state conscientiously. I'm reminded of a cool saying: Sometimes we have urgent and pressing things we are often attracted to attend to, and the long-term and grand things sometimes fall by the wayside, but when one weighs the whole of their life it seems that we don't have time not to attend to those things which are truly important. Edit: and yet I sit here and continue to watch anime, humans are frail indeed.

learn another language to a certain level, draw and write more, start swimming again. I also should get a driver's license, but I do not really like driving, so I might start biking again and maybe 1000 m320 glm kills in MW3

Speaking of swimming, I should get around to doing that, too. Might as well not wind up a brick the moment I hit deeper water.
