I wish we could crossplay. I don't really see the need to keep the communities so segregated, especially for a game like Destiny. Sure it would mean more coordination and you'd have to build a single server executable that can handle both clients, but the complications are child's play compared to PC. I guess it's more of a MS and Sony thing where they basically just don't allow it, but it's sad. It would be really really great to have one big Destiny community, especially for PvE.
I guess on something like CoD you might argue one side or another had some advantage, and I seriously doubt MS and Sony would get together to make voice cross compatible so we might not be able to talk, but meh.

I think the main problem here is that neither MSFT nor Sony have any interest to make the cross play happen. Technically it is not hard, and Bungie did his part to implement an universal backend for all platforms.

I tried the Nightfall until I wiped at the laser grid. My weapons just couldn't deal with those shields despite arc burn. Shields are literally Hitler. ;3
So I ran it as a level 28 weekly instead and was able to grind through it. A bit of a slog but I got my coins at least. Yay. heh Not nearly as fun solo. And the final fight was a long grind. If I had gotten past the grid in the Nightfall there's no way I would have managed the end. Toooooo many adds with huge fuggin yellow health bars, and some with shields. yeah...

Oh certainly. I did it exactly the way he did the nightfall. I just couldn't deal with those shields on the nightfall.

Did some patrolling. For whatever reason destinypublicevents.com was about really slow for me. I went from site to site chasing my tail for a long time until I figured that out by checking where it was when I actually caught an event and destinypublicevents.com said it was 20 minutes out. So then I was able to hit a few by checking for the next one supposedly happening closest to 20 minutes instead of next. Surprised it was so off today. I got a few, and tons of patrols and bounties, though. Loving carrying around 10 bounties.
BTW I actually earned a new legendary hand cannon from doing the weekly. I forget the name, but don't think I'll bother until The Devil You Know is fully upgraded. Still no legendary assault rifle.
Did some Iron Banner. I lost two games solo, but personally did pretty well and got up to 16 of my 20 spread for the exotic bounty. Then I played 3 more games with some friends, lost them all and the spread as well. heh But a couple hours later I played one more game and boom, redeemed my five coins and got a decent way through the bounty as well. I think I might be okay solo. I won't be upset about losing games as long as I win some too. In fact I oddly feel a lot better about it. Like I don't even have to break even to feel okay about a session, as long as I win enough to cash in my coins I don't think I mind so much. Normally if I go 3 or 4 games without a win I get much more down, although I was pretty down until I got that win. I'm kinda sad that IB will end so soon. I'll have more time next weekend, but no IB to fill that time. Oh well. Maybe I'll do some regular Crucible, or try to nutt up on some AW, or hell... Maybe I'll talk some bros into carrying me through the raid. ;3 (I do finally have some legendary weapons, just 2 hand cannons, a fusion rifle, and a rocket launcher. But only the hand cannon is upgraded any, and not fully. I bought telemetries from Xur, but only the fusion rifle actually matches what I've got. The RL is void though.)
Anyway, good times. Also finding that having the 20 fusion rifle multikills bounty is far less a burden when you can carry 10. I just worked on it here and there when I knew I could get a couple, then found a few spawns where I knew I could get at least one multikill in the Steppes. Not that big a deal since I was doing other stuff. When I could only carry five it was a huge waste.

IB and a quick weekly with Marko to finish off my exotic shotgun. Thanks Marko! That was fun and lucrative, and I immediately put it to use in the IB. It's decent, but really needs those upgrades. I need to learn to manage the recoil and empty the mag into people so I can extend the lethal range past the 1HK range, but great for ambushes and very good for melee combos.
Yesterday I did fairly well in IB. I lost lots of games but was going positive. Tonight was rocky. I didn't start until late and was immediately negative. I lost six strait, which sucks since the last loss had no rep gain other than contribution towards bounties, but oh well. Several of the games were close and I started doing better. Finally I went a tad positive on the last game and won the game, yay! Rank 2 +500 rep towards 3, got my shader too. I'll be ready to grind out rank 3 tomorrow... I hope. We'll see.
I did switch from Fireborn to Radiant Skin. I'm split on it, but I think I like it better. It lets me play my super offensively rather than hanging on to it for a hopefully surprise revive. Generally after they've seen you revive once they're looking for it and they'll camp my corpse waiting for it. I've even been kills before I can actually move after using it. Radiant skin keeps me alive so I can get more use out of the super it-self, so I think I prefer it for PvP except in certain circumstances. With a better team maybe fireborn would work better than it has for me going solo. But I love playing it offensively. Hell in one match I popped it and then covered B in about 5 or 6 grenades one after the other. Voidfang is also really nice for PvP! I normally cap A or C with the team for the points but I'm starting to think I should actually race to B. The reason being I spawn in with 2 grenades fully charged. So that means if I can get to B I can stall the other team by defending two entrances to it with AoE, at least for a few seconds. Hopefully the team can then catch up to defend and cap since I certainly won't hold it solo for long, but that's could give a pretty good head start on B. It would work a hell of a lot better with a team of bros, though. I may give a go, anyway.

Iron Banner for about an hour then I desperately need glimmer, but only about 9K which is farmable in about an hour. If I get on early enough I should have time to spare for a Weekly run for coins if you want. I've already got the 9 coins, but I figure I would get glimmer during and it's more fun than farming. I could just finish farming the rest of the glimmer I need after.
You looking to run it on 26 or just go for 28? I soloed 28 so it's certainly doable. I'll run Sunsinger for sure, though and we'll prolly both be holed up in the room at the end since they are tough as hell on 28. Though I might can hang out below like I did towards the end of our previous run. I was able to kill adds and put damage on Sepiks from down there without getting in your way.
I think we could even manage the nightfall, but it would be a hella long grind and we might have a wipe or two if we get sloppy and the XP buff resets tomorrow.

Okay it took about two hours to grind the IB rep because I didn't have any easy bounties. In fact I didn't have much luck with most IB bounties other than that simple XP one. But I did play quite well tonight and actually won more games than lost for a change. One game I even was totally the MVP going 2.63 KD. Yay me! I started going immediately for B while my team capped the easy cap. In some games it didn't go well, but in most it let me get there and setup a defense. I didn't have to survive, just hold off the enemy team until my team got there. Kinda worked, kinda... Really need a good team with voice to do it properly. Next IB we need to get some bros and throw a team together to rock this.
Once I got that done I had to go farm glimmer... which was a pain. I don't have access to Mars, but I do have tons of ether seeds so I went to Venus and ran the spawns at the ember cave. Easy to massacre everything, plus I got tons of items to deconstruct, lots of engrams, lots of XP. It still took longer than I had planned, especially when I got so excited about having weapon parts I maxed out my Devil you Know... before I realized that costs glimmer. ARG! Back to the grind I went. But I did pull it off and get my boots. YAY! Now I need to upgrade them as they actually drop me to 27 right now. heh heh I briefly considered farming more glimmer to get the other boots, but I don't have it in me tonight, and I don't even have a good scout rifle anyway.
Anyway, I'm sorry I didn't have time to meet up. I can run a weekly with you this weekend, mebbe Friday.

No worries at all
Here's what I did last night....
I logged on, went to the steppes, threw a axion bolt at the devil walker, killed it (or helped kill it), got my 3 stars for 5 seconds of work, went to the tower, collected my shard, went to the bounties, got 4, and logged off. Spent all of 4/5 minutes.
EDIT: you don't have access to mars? Mannon mon ami, we're gonna have to fix that. Especially since I need spirit bloom.

I actually feel a bit guilty for doing Iron Banner this weekend and not running hardly any missions with you. lol Not that I feel like you're my responsibility, but I like to help out and you have returned the favor many a time. But, needs must do. And I got my first 30 light armor so I'm a step on the road from 28 to 30 and haven't even run VoG yet. ;3
BTW next Iron Banner I'm dragging you along. You're going to kill some guardians, and you'll like it. ;3 Srsly, it was a lot of fun, and having an intelligent human being along to coordinate with would just be that much more fun. Plus there's some cool rewards. But really it was just a load of fun, especially the games I would just carry my team and wreck the other guys. But even when I was only going about 0.8 KDR, but managing to keep us on two capture points, I knew that I was contributing to us winning the game. I don't mind taking one for the team. Apparently I'm alright at it, at least in IB, and I'm not level 30 so it wasn't only my gear. I think that IB drew in a lot of people like me that don't do a lot of Crucible, so I may still suck at normal Crucible. But I'm all about IB now. Next time I plan to go all the way to rank 5. The tricky part will be having enough glimmer to actually purchase everything due to the glimmer cap. I'm tempted to stockpile those items the Cryptarch gives you glimmer for instead of turning them in. Although glimmer farming wasn't too hard and was actually kinda fun, plus it leveled up my weapons. Prolly be even more fun and efficient as a team. heh
Yeah I know PvP isn't generally your thing, but I think you should try it with me. You might have more fun than you think. I sure did.

That's what I totally dig about what we do... it's totally casual, it's totally fun, and we do what we do and if we don't it's not the end of the world. BTW next Iron Banner I'm dragging you along. You're going to kill some guardians, and you'll like it. ;3 Srsly, it was a lot of fun, and having an intelligent human being along to coordinate with would just be that much more fun. If I wanted PVP, I'd be playing CoD:AW.... I chose destiny for the raids and story, not the PVP. I might do it when I start to get bored, but because I'm taking it slow and the new update is coming out, I won't be bored for a while As for the glimmer restrictions, here's how you hit it and hit it hard. Step 1: do the seeds (I think) to get the bonus glimmer for the fallen enemies Step 2: enter the cosmodrome. Step 3: go to the left and kill the 3/4 fallen by the downstairs entrance Step 4: go right and kill the 4 by the ship Step 5: go right and kill the swarm by the big garage Step 6: go straight and kill the 6 by the stairs leading to dock 13. Step 7: rinse and repeat steps 3 to 6 for a bit Then go to the divide and kill everything there Then go back to the steppes and kill everything there for a bit Then go to the mothlands and kill everything there for a bit Then go to the forgotten coast and kill everything there for a bit Then go back to the mothlands and kill everything there for a bit Then go back to the steppes and kill everything there for a bit Then go to the dividee and kill everything there for a bit Don't spend too too long in one area, lest you get bored and want to shoot yourself in the head Step 8: all the while doing this, buy and upgrade nothing. Use different weapons to keep things interesting. Oh and if you see spinmetal, get it so you can turn it in for marks, rep, and 250 gillmer. And chests too. you'll be pissing and $hitting glimmer. Honestly, I bought 10 of each ammo pack and I hit the max again. And you'll probably get a mote or two of light. All while never leaving the Cosmodrome. Seriously... don't go anywhere else Fire up the combine, my son.... time to harvest that crop o' glimmer in the fields

Marko. There are faster ways to do it.
Cosmodrone/patrol - Just go to the Three Musketeers spot, with a boost on. You can get about 124 glimmer per minute. About 4,000 in 30 minutes.
Mars - Exclusion Zone store - Go about two min into the story, first stage. Do level 28 (or what you can) Tons of enemies. Kill. You can average 150+ glimmer per min with a boost on. Intentionally die before the end of that section, and you can immediately be killing the same enemies again. Repeat over and over. I've gotten around 5,000 glimmer in 30 minutes here.

Agreed; I just chose the cosmodrome because there's variety and literally, unless you kill yourself falling off a cliff, you have 0 excuses for dying. On mars, there are actually enemies that can hurt you if you jump in the wrong spot. In russia, you should have no excuse for dying (misadventure withstanding) Honestly, I gave my wife the controller while I had to go take a whiz, and she stayed alive. All while hipfiring and running away from things. This from a woman who either plays the super NES or the Wii

I think if doing Steppes it's good to kill the Hive underground as well. They are majors and worth a good bit of glimmer, plus a fast respawn. Venus was good for a change of scenery and some spirit bloom which I'm sure I will need sooner or later. It wasn't the best place, but it was decently efficient. With my ether seed active the cave would spawn a captain plus adds all in a bunch worth about 73 glimmer a pop. I'd use a rocket if I had them (and usually did) then pop the captain in the head a couple times if he survived. While waiting for the respawn I killed off other Fallen in the area. One group was routinely worth ~32. I figured out that if I went down a ways I got more spawns so I'd do that then race back up to rocket the captain again, and every once in a while go collect lewt. There was sooo much. heh I even got a legendary engram. (I think it became AS or AE, which is cool I guess. I need the stuff.) The captain also dropped some goodies for the Cryptarch. In all I think I farmed something like 14 to 16 thousand glimmer in about two or three hours. I wasn't really keeping track.

I saw a youtube video of a guy playing Dark Souls 2 with his 5 year old daughter and when he got invaded she would get excited and ask for the controller. I think she won all but one of the fights in the video. ;3 Srsly, if I had kids I'd let them piddle around in the Cosmodrome for hours while I do chores. heh heh I don't think my GF is keen on it, though. Not that she doesn't play games, or even shooters, but that's actually the problem. She does. And Destiny does not tickle anything inside her. She thinks it looks boring. But then I think she's somewhat biased because she can't/won't play it with me and it competes for my time with her rather than playing Borderlands 2 or something on PC with her. She doesn't like CoD either, but for those and many more reasons besides. She does like Halo, though. ;p We've played coop all the way through 2, 3, Reach, and 4, and recently restarted Reach after we beat 4. (Graphics aren't as nice but it's a much better game than 4 was.)
I need to open up Mars so I can glimmer farm there. I think that's the best of the methods I have researched. Though there was another one on the Moon that sounded pretty good too. I chose to go with Venus because I specifically wanted Fallen and I wanted something fast and repeatable as I had very limited time before the NPC poofed back to wherever he lives when Iron Banner isn't going on. (Srsly, why doesn't Bungie let the NPC hang out and still sell us stuff for a while after the event is done?) I had tons of ether seeds, but I've been saving my wax idols because I hear they may have another use in the expansion. (But that's just a rumor I guess.)
I hadn't thought of the spinmetal or I would have traded some in. I'm practically swimming in it. heh Though it wouldn't have been worth an awful lot of glimmer. I'll just keep hording it for now.

I won't lie to you.
I'm a middle/high school innercity high school teacher.
I don't care what people say. I know from first hand experience that young kids should not play any form of realistic video games or violent video games. Mario Kart and kid oriented stuff, sure.
But I've spent my entire teaching career with kids who grew up on violent video games and it has an effect.
I never play video games with my 5 year old around. And no one else should either.

I would suggest not letting the wife play it, long before you worry about the kids. You can tell the kids 'no'. But if for some reason the wife actually likes the game, and wants to start playing it? You have serious problems to deal with.

I only have a few bits of life wisdom to share with bros on here, and that's one of them:
1. Never go full retard 2. Don't drink soft drinks like Coke, Pepsi, etc... 3. Never share your video game console with your wife.

They just released a study that violent video games has no more effect on the person than regular news. Anyhow... I made a picture when I got my. wife as far as creating a character in a game... the orientation and movement shortly after was more disturbing than most I've seen in my life. I've known people where the entire family was set up to play a single account... (farming, farming and..... farming)

What did Polo do last night?
Lots of easy bounties... super easy... 3 public event golds, 10 fallen leaders, 9k exp without dying, 100 enemies killed with precision damage... dios mio mang... so much fun.
Then I had to play my favourite game: which weapon will Polo buy with his 150 vanguard marks?
Bachelor #1: the Vanguard Sniper Bachelor #2: The Swarm MG Bachelor #3: the Devil You Know hand cannon.
Which Bachelor dear Bros, did Polo choose? Take the controler in front of you and choose the bachelor of your choice!
