Speakeasy is there.
But yeah this is hilariously stupid. Let people pick any variant they want each Prestige. The fact that the Obsidian Steed and Goliath come early is cool though. Like this will be an improvement but so much less of an improvement than it should have been.

It looks like you can get Speakeasy at Master Prestige 12. But if you play the game that many hours to get that prestige, shouldn't you already have the Speakeasy and most worthwhile variants by that time through supply drops? I'm sure someone with some statistical ability could figure out the odds here.
Oooh, and don't forget you get a flashy purple gear you get for maxing out at lvl 30. pffffff!

Yeah, file this under "We have no idea what incentivizes our player base." Interesting to see the shit begin to roll downhill on Reddit.
Would also be nice if they took time out of one fucking modeler's day to make new gear rather than just palate-swapping armor. Apparently they're coming from the Mortal Kombat Trilogy school of design.
You know, if they're this clueless, it might be best for them to tell the community what they're planning to do months ahead of doing any work, then sit back and watch comment threads for the ideas that are inevitably better than the ones they come up with. Lots of people had creative ideas of adding weapon challenges, trading elites, etc. At least this obliterates the weapon trading idea I thought was possible, so I can delete my extra/crappy elites out of the armory. So long, elite crossbows!

You have to prestige 22 times for an AMR-9 variant.
Seems legit.

And here i am, stopped at p5 because extra CaCs was all i need. Since you're not loosing much when moving through these, this is the good deal for those who maxed out already but if you not prestiged for some reasons, well this is quite generic news. Also, this Strider... swap it for Nugget because if you made that far you surely are. A purple nugget.

Obsidian Steed, Goliath, Speakeasy, Loophole. Four guns on that list even worth having, out of 15. The rest are either shit weapons to begin with, or there are better variants out there. I've deleted many of them myself.
GG, SH.
The only good thing is they made it where attachments don't reset when you 'steege, past master. Doesn't matter for me, as I stopped at 5th, like the cat.

The other funny thing about this that I realized thanks to following Reddit's ball of angry rage is that a lot of this waiting-with-baited-breath got started when Ali-A said, "Boy, I'd sure like to earn the AK-12 RIP" to which Condrey replied, "You soon will." (Paraphrasing, obviously.) As that list shows, uh, ain't no RIP there and no further info on any way to actually earn it. Condrey has made so many promises via twitter that I don't think he can keep track of them any more.
Seriously, as a "brand ambassador," Condrey's effectiveness is even less than Tina Palacios', which is saying something about how out of touch he is with the community he's supposed to represent.
Calling it here: Prestige level 15 unlocks all variants. They can shoehorn that in and dangle it like a carrot at anyone thinking about jumping ship from the CoD franchise between now and November.

Like everyone else said... Poor choice of guns. I dont have the obsidian or goliath so i will do the 2 extra prestiges and just stay with the gold scull emblem most likley. How many more times i prestige is going depend on how good the next 3 dlc map packs will be. I dont know if anyone else already pointed out but its pretty dumb that they just reskinned the prestige emblems with gold. Same with the purple outfit. Wtf

Apparently they're coming from the Mortal Kombat Trilogy school of design. You know, if they're this clueless, it might be best for them to tell the community what they're planning to do months ahead of doing any work, then sit back and watch comment threads for the ideas that are inevitably better than the ones they come up with. So long, elite crossbows! SledgeHammer does seem completely lost at this point. Even Clan Wars is having issues, where BeachHead a few weeks ago actually backtracked on improvements they made EIGHT months ago, bringing back bullsh1t three-day Diamond wars....that people went nuts against last summer. Seriously, the people at these companies are just lost. Fortunately for ClanWars...a huge twitter outcry broke out, thousands of feedback...and BeachHead postponed the CW, and finally dumped the 3-day war. The made the war last weekend...and it was a 2-day Diamond...as everyone wanted last summer. Again, just baffling how these people think. Speaking to the elite Variants...I only have one now, the Mp11 top variant. Don't have a single other one. And this pisses me the fvck off, as I have said a number of times. I pretty much only play AW for the competitive side of things (mlg/CW's/etc..)...and it burns me up to no end, like during last weekend's CW's...that I am at disadvantage while playing this game. Right now...Clan Wars is pretty much the only reason I play this game. And for the record, Clan Wars is still a ton of fun. That makes the gun extremely interesting.

Calling it here: Prestige level 15 unlocks all variants. Wishful thinking. If it did, Sledge would say so. I have a feeling they're going to need to do damage control for their brand based on how poorly received this system is. The only people digging it are the one percent of the one percent of the playerbase that's already at master prestige, because they're a prestige away from an Obsidian Steed if they don't have it already. The system is stupid because it's arbitrary. What if you were in a small town and really wanted a Domino's pizza to open up, and when they took your first order, they chose sausage and bell peppers for you. People don't like other people picking for them. Even randomness would be fine, if prestiging gave you two guaranteed Elite weapons, and you could do that 15 times. That's working within the context they've already established. But what they've implemented here is just baffling. Sledgehammer isn't saying that they're going to open up everything at Grand Master now because they haven't planned on it. My take is that they will once they realize the magnitude of the disappointment people feel. But it's absolutely the easiest way to do some kind of lip service to the fans without having to seem like utter idiots and redacting what they've been telling us for about a month what their "big plan" for earning Elites is. Aside from being easy to code (presumably), it also doesn't break the meta-game. Someone playing that long has access to OP stuff already, statistically speaking, and since the people who actually make it to that goal are going to be extremely rare, it's not going to drastically increase a person's chances of getting gunned down by an Insanity any more than what they are now. The biggest thing that small change would do is ideological. Right now, people feel they were lied to, because they have no way of earning gun X if it wasn't one of the 15 the devs picked. Instead, people will feel that they CAN earn gun X, though it might require a long grind.

The fact that they are even discussing getting Elites to the player population, is in and by itself...a testament to how much they know they failed on this loot based bs. It's a failure. No ifs, ands or buts about it. Fail.
If I wanted fvcking RNG/loot stuff, i'll play Destiny. I have that game, played it to death, and still am jacked I don't have two of the better weapons. Yeah, all the frustrations with loot stuff already going on. But CoD? Fvck SH. And Fvck Activision for being such weak kneed pussies who can't even stick to their roots, and have to bring in sh1t like this from other games.

I don't know..am I a casual? Play a few hours a month? According to.. people, 2 hours a day is fucking casual. I'm not ever going to manage 15 stupid prestiges, let alone 30.

Worst resolution ever. I don't know..am I a casual? Play a few hours a month? According to.. people, 2 hours a day is Foxtroting casual. I'm not ever going to manage 15 stupid prestiges, let alone 30. It seems like this year, Activision has panicked in it's attempt to keep people playing their games. They really have. I say this, comparing things to the past. In the past with games like MW1, even as late as BO2.... it didn't take that much effort to get maxed out. And what did most people do? They kept playing the game, because the game itself was fun. People didn't need motivation of getting special armors or unique DLC crap to keep them going. But the problem these days? It's one thing to put incentives into the game, to keep people playing. But Activision's Destiny and CoDAW now ALSO make those time requirements NECESSARY if one wants to play on an equal level with opponents (CoDAW), or play most of the content in the game (Destiny)/. It's completely bvllshit. Take Destiny. Average an hour a day? You won't get jack sh1t done in the game. You'll be so woefully behind in all the goodies that you might as well stop playing right now. Most of the good stuff will be out of your reach (Hard raids) and even special events like the Iron Banner, completely off limits as a few hours ain't enough. Bump it to 2 hours? Probably still not enough time put in. Most people I know how have everything, ...like have kept up with the game itself, getting all the 'stuff', are putting in 3 to 4 hours plus a day (average time) It's ridiculous. And now CoD? Everything being discussed above is basically the same tired Destiny format. It's like Activision is taking stats from Destiny and now crossing them over to CoD. Speaking for myself. I want to keep playing CoDAw. I want to have the same weapons my opponents have, when they kill me with better stuff. What do I have to do? I NEED to ramp up my play time now to more hours a day, and/or grind out to level 15...or pay Actvision some cash so I can compete better. Great options for me. I do enjoy certain parts of Destiny and AW. For the most part, like playing those two games. But I am growing more and more edgy, frustrated, annoyed, ..with the just INCESSANT time demands being shoved down my throat by these companies. That if I don't maintain like 3-4 hours a day, even more, I am hopelessly screwed with having a level playing field.

I disagree in that the difference between the best variants and the base variants is not large. I'm 15th prestige and still don't have the Steed, RIP, Insanity, Goliath, or Speakeasy, but that has never held me back.
I'm going to grind and reach 30th prestige not for the guns but because I actually enjoy this game.

I'm going to grind and reach 30th prestige not for the guns but because I actually enjoy this game. You are missing the point mega. That's nice if you feel the difference isn't 'large' (I never specified any amount of difference, note that)....but that doesn't remove the fact that there is a difference, and it's one that cannot be closed unless one logs in an ungodly amount of hours (and then that might not even be enough). That's never been the CoD way before. I don't like this new direction. And even if the difference is only a small sliver, in a game where milliseconds matter it can be the difference maker. Especially if one is doing stuff like clan wars, where winning (and winning fast) is all that matters. Many of you guys are missing that point, when dismissing the variant stuff as a nonissue. And I enjoy this game too (at times, under the right conditions)...but again, that still doesn't take away the fact that SH & Activision don't trust this game to sell itself, and have now resorted to gimmicky RNG/loot, time grinding measures to try and entice their present player base into staying on the game. THAT is real. THAT is going on. I think it's lame.

Oh, it is an issue and a huge one at that. It's simply shit design and I pray that it doesn't return in future games. However, the armory slot DLC probably made enough money to ensure that AW2 has supply drops.
For me, I just don't touch guns where I don't have the favored variant. I haven't used the AK and HBR since launch.

I'd also say that it is strange that ranked play still allows variants. Against the best of the best, having an Obsidian Steed or an Insanity against everyone else is about the CoD equivalent of doing Roids or HGH in pro sports. It isn't a substitute for talent, but with talent and that I can see how it would give you an edge over everyone else.
