Nice, I don't know if the sorta confirmation is really new, but I guess it's pretty unambiguous. Good to hear it's their main focus. There are a couple of interesting nuggets in there though. Like how non-committal he Zampella is about a proper single-player mode. Even though I didn't hate the campaign mode for what it is... I don't think I could find a single person who would say "God damn, I can't wait for a sequel multiplayer campaign! I just hope that Graves can live up to the leadership that James MacAllan displayed!"
And the thing about maps, oh thank god! I figured they finally get it after making the map packs free for the original, but I think free maps from the get-go is really going to help.

Lovely. I hope "expand the lore" infers that they're going to have some sort of solo content. There's a massive underestimation of how important it is to be able to engage a game's content alone. Learning the ins and outs of the movement system is paramount and you really can't do that when you have a bunch of opposing players trying to ruin your day. If I could skirmish against more fearsome bots, maybe even some rudimentary NPC Pilots (and not need to be always online (and not need Origin)), I'd be all in.

Switching to Steam will be vital to any sort of success on the PC, I would think.
I absolutely hate the way the new Call of Duty games handle map packs. As I recall, when the map pack launched on COD4, it was automatically in every playlist, and matchmaking just split the players into "has DLC" and "doesn't have DLC". Then in WaW, having a lower player count, they said "fuq dat" and just put the maps into every playlist on launch and didn't split you up. It just booted you from the lobby if you didn't have the next map. That was probably my favourite system, and it doubled as a sneaky marketing ploy - it was so irritating that I bought the maps to stop getting kicked. MW2 went back to the same system as COD4, which worked fine.
But the games since - putting new maps on their own separate playlist? Not getting to actually play them in normal playlists in rotation with other maps until months and months after they come out? How stupid. Makes me want a refund.
I'm very curious and interested to find out what Respawn's new idea will be. I think the smartest move would be to implement some intense cosmetic customization (like, beyond what we have in COD:AW), and pump it full of micro transactions. Then implement some sort of season pass that just gives you all of that. This should earn them just as much money as charging for maps, and they can just give the maps away for free.

Switching to Steam will be vital to any sort of success on the PC, I would think. Unless something crazy happens during development it's going to stay on Origin because EA is publishing it. I'm glad that the maps will be free. I didn't buy any of the DLC specifically because the PC playerbase is so small. I hope they deliver on the lore expansion, the universe seems so cool but it doesn't get explored hardly at all. Huge wasted opportunity IMO. REMOVE SMART PISTOL AND C4

Smart Pistol is fine, always has been. It really excels at farming grunts in Attrition, but it's flipping awful at killing pilots. EVERY SINGLE SITUATION where the Smart Pistol gets a kill on a pilot, you would have been able to get that kill faster and easier with any other weapon.

I agree and it gives you a different way to play where you can focus on movement and tactics without having to deal with precise aim.

Come to PC and get absolutely wrecked against smartpistollers if you ever get into their range. They are incredible annoying to deal on PC that even C4s might not save your ass against pistollers that have any kind of parkour skills.

Come to PC and get absolutely wrecked against smartpistollers if you ever get into their range. They are incredible annoying to deal on PC that even C4s might not save your ass against pistollers that have any kind of parkour skills. This. Unlike slower thumbstick aiming, it is effortless to keep the target near the center of the Smart Reticule with mouse aiming even with frantic movement. Said frantic movement gives the advantage further to the Smart Pistol - it doesn't need to be accurate, just reflexive, and while other weapons need their sights up, the SP is free to move aiming from the hip*. The most common tactic is to combine the smart pistol with the Cloak, building up the triple shot before revealing oneself. In maps with mostly close quarters, they dominate. In open maps, they can get around cloaked and don't have too much problem getting close enough unless you are keen to their approach and have a shotgun. It's quite the turnaround - Burst fire weapons in COD are heralded as amazing on consoles because aim assist, but are among the least used on PC with a mouse since the higher speed of a mouse user and the full manual aiming make it less likely to land the full burst. The Smart Pistol is way too easy to stay on target with manual mouse aiming, but the thumbsticks and aim assist of a console can't keep up with the evasive movement of Titanfall pilots. It's all a matter of evasiveness versus aiming performance. *Idea if the SP shows up in TF2: Rather than an expected suggestion to lower damage or lengthen lock time or something like that, switch the two aiming modes around. Manual fire from the hip, lock-on when sighted. Maybe that lowered mobility with the Smarty's sights up can cull it's combination of superb lethality and no loss of evasiveness.

Lowering the damage would make the gun useless and making it lock slower wouldn't fix the core issue, it would just make it slightly less effective. It should have 100% strafing speed though so the pilots aren't complete sitting ducks. If this change is made I think lockons and partial locks should decay instead of completely disappearing instantly.

I only own the XB1. I'm glad it will be on all three dominant systems. More love across the board might translate to longer lifespan.

It's going to be glorious playing day one on PS4 with all the noobs that didn't play the first one. I'll stop by the Xbox version eventually too, but I'm not missing Titanfall 2 PS4 launch for the world.

I'll have to decide between PS4 and PC... or both... maybe both. Lord the PS4 noobs will be delicious! That and I understand that lots of console players aren't as good at the parkour. I'm a claw grip user and fairly certain I'll parkour just as much on console. Plus the console community will probably be larger and active for longer than PC (though I can still find games on PC now, at least Attrition anyway), and I think my bro will go PS4. Plus if the smart pistol comes back it should not suffer at all from lack of mouse control.
But I do love playing FPS's on PC and I have a new 970 so my PC is a bit more powerful than my PS4 now. (It would be a lot more powerful if I weren't CPU limited.) Yeah I think I just talked myself into getting both versions. heh Maybe getting both day 1. I don't know.
I do know that of all the shooters to have come out in recent memory TF is my favorite by a wide margin and I cannot wait to see what they do for a sequel. I really do hope they give it a SP/COOP campaign this time, though.

I thought it was "science meets magic" which is just an odd way of saying "sci-fi." Either way...

I thought TF1 was perfect, off the top of my head I can't think of anything i would change. The network connection was great. I like not voting for maps it stops the same maps coming round and round. The amount of pilot weapons was enough, you don't need 10 variants of each that are mostly useless. The Titan weapons were great. Too many perks or abilities seems to water them down a bit so hopefully they don't over do it with those. The way you ranked up was a great idea. I suppose really all it needs which is something that doesn't really bother me, is challenges for camos and calling cards to keep some players interested, I suppose it's always good for bragging rights. I didn't really follow the campaign story. I never play the campaign mode when it's single player so I did like the idea of getting some back story and lore and I still would but it sort of just passed by with it in the background. The 'magic' does sound a bit worrying but all we can do is wait and see, I'm sure they know what they're doing (fingers crossed).

wait what? tv series? why? Don't worry, it'll be right alongside the Battlefield Bad Company TV series, and the Halo TV series.
