Some insider is saying the game will not be like older games and basically said that EXO suits are coming back, but movement will be different from AW. Cant re-find the link, it showed his tweets. May have been on reddit. Anyhow, you can count me out.

There's always these uncredited things. Remember that one big "official perk" list that had things like "pilot" that doubled your time in aerial killstreaks? Anyone can claim to be an "insider," and nobody's ever going to offer bona-fides because if they did, they'd be fired for violating their NDAs. I couldn't even get a guy who worked at Respawn a few years ago to tell me what they were working on at a party, and both of us knew the host pretty well. The risk vastly outweighs the reward of letting protected info loose into the world.
In any case, I'm skeptical about Exo suits. From the BF Hardline games I've been playing, going back to a game without them is not difficult nor aggravating, and while I'm middling to terrible at BF Hardline, I'm actually thankful that all of what I've begun to call "jumpy jumpy horseshit" doesn't ever rear it's head.

Is this what you're talking about? imgur.com/CPTyod5I vaguely recall the same guy implying a long time back that BO3 was going full-Titanfall back when AW was announced. My understanding is that he's reasonably credible and does get inside info from COD-folk. But it's all second hand information, so who knows if he's getting bullshitted or not. They'll reveal whatever they've got going in the next couple of months officially I'm sure.

News Flash: SMGs and ARs will dominate and shotguns will suck in BLOPSIII.

We could totally come up with some bullshit rumor and get it spread around the internet and force vonderhaar to tell everyone that blops 3 doesnt actually come with free candy. That could be fun. The Youtubers tend to treat these forums like gospel. I mean, look at how far your Klingon thing went. I'm still not sure of what the hell happened there...

well, the wait shouldn't be that much longer should it?
It's almost April. Don't the companies typically start dropping general info before the summer arrives? Especially about the campaign. And then the MP release details (perks, gun details, etc..) during that big July expo?

There's always these uncredited things. Shinobi has leaked corrected information before. Or so I am told. The Youtubers tend to treat these forums like gospel. Because they are the Gospel. Look at how far Skill Cannon went.

Oh man the best were the lists that had two identical weapons, the Noob Tube and the Skill Cannon. I can't believe Sledgehammer made two identical variants and had the balls to give them similarly punny names.

the biggest influx we ever had by far was when marvel found some discarded camos Really tells you of the user-base, doesn't it?

Just give us unlimited sprint, dive-rolling, further jumping and higher reach for climbing ("mantling").
You guys are the ones making the game, right? They've finally started hiring people from these forums, right?

I feel like skill cannon didnt come from here but i have nothing to prove it. denk doesnt really have an absurd presence outside of a few youtubers. the biggest influx we ever had by far was when marvel found some discarded camos Naw my weapon variants list was the #1 google result for "Advanced warfare weapon variants" and thus got 300k+ views in the first month and links from every youtuber. Our filter made the Noob Tube puke out as Skill Cannon and got copy-pasted all over the internet. Everywhere it got copied to people would write in about how they got a new variant not on the list, the Noob Tube! So the copier would add that in, and thus their list would have both the Skill Cannon and the Nube Tube with identical stats. The funny part was that my first list was just a compilation of copied information from people's imgur screenshots and the oh-so-reliable COD-wikia.

Also I wasnt responding to you for the skill cannon thing, i was under the impression that megaqwerty was implying that the use of skill cannon came from DenK when i have no reason to believe that den actually made up the term rather than just picking it up from somewhere else. The Advanced Warfare weapon list with Skill Cannon in it definitely came from here. The term, "Skill Cannon", definitely did not come from here (and is probably from Halo 1 PC, in reference to the fuel rod cannon).

I heard a rumor some long time ago that Noob Tube came from CoD (either 2 or 3), in reference to the Bazooka. I'm not exactly sure about that though.

Skill Canon originally referred to the Flak Cannon from the Unreal series, the shotgun/grenade launcher. Totally pulled that from my ass, but it's the first thing I think of every time I hear skill cannon.

Made it up quite some time ago, picked a word that was the opposite of "noob" and an alternative word to "tube".
"Pro pipe" and "skill cannon" were used by my buddies and I to describe the M4+M203 in Soldier of Fortune II after we had a lengthy argument about the applications, balance and ease/difficulty of use the weapon, against all others calling it a noob tube. I carried that nickname to antagonize the use of "noob tube" for any launcher weapons afterwards.

Some insider is saying the game will not be like older games and basically said that EXO suits are coming back, but movement will be different from AW. As an aside I am torn on this. The movement aspects. I've been playing AW more and more (my Destiny playing has almost dropped to zero). The other day, I tried to play the old school version of AW, with no exo suits. It felt just god awful. The lack of freedom to get to where I wanted, the speed getting there, just felt so wrong moving the old way. Now that said, I'm not sure if that bad feeling was being correctly placed. It could have been due to playing bigger, more vertical maps, ...without using exo. AW's maps are made for exo jumping. Not old school movements. I don't think the exo movements is the problem per se. The freedom to go vertical, get around players, go over them, isn't bad. I think (just my opinion here) the problem is with the animations. That initial 750mph rocket boost that shoots a player 30-40' up or to the side. The initial animation that from my perspective, renders the target completely invulnerable. You can't kill them. To me, that initial 'boost' (whether up or side straffing) is nothing more than a bigger, more glorified knife animation. Try as I may to justify this, I can't. I don't see how adding more of these invulnerability animations into a game, on top of old networking/coding, is a good thing. It just seems like something that falls prey to the ongoing issues with lag. The game doesn't seem to handle more of that stuff very well.

I'm totally okay with the exo suits. The exo suits are one hundred percent okay. Great, even.
It's these maps and spawns that make people not like the exos.
That said, if we ditch exos, I'm wholly okay with that.

Yeah the maps in AW are total AIDS which IMO leads to bad spawns and Exo doesn't help. It's basically SH was too scared to put cover in game otherwise "people might get stuck on things while mario triple jumping with their rocket pack". This problem is PC exclusive but Exo movement makes the EM1's sheer power beyond comprehension on PC.
I remember one of my pet peeves in BLOPS2 was the lack of cover and power points, however after returning to BLOPS2 if found it was a veritable cornucopia of cover compared to AW.
Basically the moral of the story is: It can always get worse
Ib4 AW3 maps are just perfectly flat maps with barrels because "muh jumpin'" and "using cover is campin'".

Is the EM1 really that overpowered with a mouse? All the impression it gave me on consoles was it being a novelty shotgun becoming gradually decent via patching.

It's the 0 ms fire time that makes it overpowered on PC.

Basically the moral of the story is: It can always get worseIb4 AW3 maps are just perfectly flat maps with barrels because "muh jumpin'" and "using cover is campin'". I've talked about this before. One of the greatest elements to CoD in the past, has been it tactical play, of controlling power positions on a map. The grind of 1v1 mini-battles between the teams, each team working for spots on what was at times, very clearly defined battle lines. Even with TDM. There's the line, you can force your way into it, or flank it! Your call. Tactics. The elements of time versus power. Maps like interchange with MW3, maps like Hijacked on BO2. The above doesn't happen anymore with CoDAW. It's just 12 people jumping around engaging in dozens of mini 1v1 battles, on a battle line that is non-existent. Hell, for that matter, the battle line is everywhere, depending on where the quirky spawns are sending people. I feel like it's pointless to even discuss this anymore, as the makers of CoD don't get the above. They just see one problem with CoD Ghosts (maps to big, to much hiding)...and then direct all resources to solving just one issue. Now maps are smaller, there is no hiding. No thought to overall gameplay flow. The exo movements are liberating. But as said before, they are still way to 'animation-heavy' It's one thing to be able to avoid enemy fire by jumping, but it gets ridiculous when both players have invulnerability animations popping up left and right, boost jumping all over like Mexican jumping beans. That shit just plays right into the hands of lag issues. Any gaming design that leans into the lag area, and away from tactics, is bad. But agree with the above point. BO2 has a crap ton of power points and such, compared to AW.
