Here's a question... when is a good time to pickup TK and make another go at Destiny? Obviously I want it as cheap as possible... I don't think I'll get it very cheap, though. So, sadly I won't be recouping any of the lost value spent on the hugely overpriced year one DLC's, but oh well. They kept me in the game for a whole year.
I'm not jumping right back in, mind. But I am wondering when I should and how late is too late? I know they'll do some big something for year three and that will likely make all of the TK content obsolete as every other major DLC has before... so I guess if I'm gonna play TK instead of skipping it then I better get going soon...
Thoughts?
PS. This could all be moot if No Man's Sky lives up to even /10th of the hype... although I kinda feel like parts of it might, but overall it'll just be a thing instead of THE THING. We'll see.

You should lie down until the notion passes.

My understanding is that there will be one more paid? Update/dlc/whatever and then destiny2's coming out.
If there is some semblance of continuation, I'd say jump in. Listen forthe hype.
Irregardless, Brad and I will get you caught up quick

If you really feel the DLC in year one were "hugely overpriced", you should probably not buy any of this game at all imho.
I am still having a lot of fun, but the end game starts to get stale at this point.
There is a very limited grind at the moment, so the time you need to spend before you can do literally anything you want is pretty short.

Yeah I know. I won't bother unless I buy it. I'm just not sure what I'll do. Part of me doesn't want to skip it, but dat time sink... At least it's less of a grind now. So mebbe it would actually work out. We'll see. I got a lot going on right now and I'm still playing BO3.

The grindiest part of the game are getting weapons brought forward from year 1 from the Vanguard and Crucible rank up packages for me at least.

It is more like the only grind imho.
Getting top tier weapons (even though you probably already have a lot of them through quests, gunsmith and vendor weapons)
For somebody who has never played TTK this is a very good point to go in imho. There are so many places where you can get end game gear.

But like I said, if you really think DLC1 and 2 were hugely overpriced, I think you should not play Destiny anymore until the sequal comes around. Because to be honest, they were the best bang for my buck I have ever spend on DLC (others were battlefield and COD a.o.).
If you feel that different, you probably don't really like the game anymore. And you probably won't have fun with this DLC either (even though it is better than the last 2 combined)

I wouldn't say I don't like the game anymore. I say they were overpriced because they included very little actual content and were priced at $20 apiece. Combined that's $40 tacked on to an already $60 game but provided way less than half as much content. That original $60 bought a LOT more content. Hence the DLC's are a very poor value compared to the base game and thus, a ripoff.
I still got a lot out of them, more so House of Wolves... In fact I honestly didn't get all that much out of The Dark Below because I didn't run the raid 50 times. I'm fairly certain I've only completed it once or twice.
It's just when DLC is called an "expansion" and they charge $20 for it, I expect more. I can buy a whole game for $20. It isn't that it's bad or that I got nothing out of it. It's just for the amount of actual content provided and the amount of work that went into it $20 is asking a lot by comparison to other ways I can spend my gaming dollars.
At least it wasn't horse armor. ;3

Okay I can see your way of reasoning. I always thought of DLC this way: spend a little money to make the game you bought interesting again. I never expected 33% of content for 33% of the price of the original game. My 20$ made that 60$ game worth playing again. I bought every DLC for every COD game I played, and every single one of them were worth it. Even though there is way less content compared to destiny. To each their own I guess But TTK gives you plenty of content for 40$! Even if you compare it to the basic game. There are plenty of new strikes, which are all more fun than the old ones. There is a new raid and a lot of new quests and story missions and stuff. I think this is the time to buy, and it won't really be a time sink either. Just decrypt engrams one by one, that is all you really need to do, other than that. Just play whatever you want and buy three of coins to speed up the process a bit. You will get to 320+ naturally.
