Next Gen Only! Rise of Iron is exclusively for Xbox One and PS4. Anyone can get the Gjallarhorn Y2 from a quest, you forge it from the armor of fallen heroes. However, you can only get the "Iron Gjallarhorn" from a preorder (Iron Gjallarhorn is the black and silver one). Plaguelands. Inside old Russia. It's been locked off for centuries by the Vanguard and Lords of Iron. It has new patrols, public events, etc. The Wall. It has "changed significantly" from when we first saw it. New Raid! "Very exciting and very cool". New and updated Strikes. New Patrols and Public Events. Updated Crucible. New Maps, New Mode (Note that mode is singular), and New Features (ambiguous). Rise of Iron costs $30 USD. "The Cosmodrome has changed significantly". Felwinter Peak, which overlooks Old Russia, holds the "Iron Temple", where the Iron Lords kept watch over humanity. The players will have to take back the Iron Temple, which is the new social space. It is likely that the first mission in Rise of Iron will be taking back the Iron Temple. You can learn more about the lore of the Iron Lords in this temple. Technological plague called "Seeva" ("Civa"?, "Sieva"? "Ceeva"?) the Iron Lords (except Saladin) sacrificed themselves to contain this plague. Jolder, as known by the gun "Jolder's Hammer" was female. The expansion will delve into the identities of the Iron Lords. Players can not get their own wolves like Saladin has. The Fallen, being infatuated with technology, have burrowed into Golden Age vaults and found SIVA, and are using it to transform themselves into "Machine Gods". The big walker towards the end of the trailer was referred to as the "Death Zamboni" but no further elaboration was offered aside from the implication that it is part of the Raid. Maximum Light will increase "significantly". However, they would not give a number. It's an axe, not a hammer. It is known as a relic, similar to the scorch cannon or Aegis, it is a temporary powerup that can be found in the world. More information will be revealed at E3 in LA. www.destinythegame.com/rise-of-ironwww.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/4nbyac/rise_of_iron_poststream_megathread/

New features for Crucible? You mean lighten up the SBMM so I'm not playing the e-Olympics? Recent lobby I was in before people think I'm a member of the BNP: I should compare to other games in case it's something on my end but Destiny should be matching people up within close proximity more often than it does. This was a solo queue and I think everyone were solo themselves too.

can someone provide a cliffnotes version of what this new release will be like?
I haven't really done any gaming in ages. I've played the 'TheGolfClub' video game a bit in the past six months, and returned to BO3 very briefly (less than a week(, before quitting again. I might have some time coming up this fall. I'm going to back off my jj training a bit, so that would free up some evenings here and there. It would be nice to get back into some form of gaming, but..... no matter where I turn, there's just nothing out there that captures my interest. Is this new Destiny coming out in September, will in continue to make improvements on the randomness stuff? Like will people all start over again fresh, or will I be completely behind in what is going on?
thanks for any help

It's an expansion, not a full fledged sequel. New story missions, quests, patrol space and a new raid. Light level max increases, and there will be some new stuff to collect. New crucible maps and a new mode. If you haven't got characters close to the current max light level, you got some grindin' to do, fool.

Refresh my memory iw5000 when did you quit? Did you get TTK? Brad is right; RoI will be more like Destiny 1.75 rather than Destiny 2

No TTK for IW5K if IIRC. That being said, with the infusion system we have now, getting big bumps to light level is relatively painless. So, iw5000, to answer your question, yes, you will be behind a decent amount at the start. Yes, there's still a decent amount of randomness inherent in the game's design. But, with that being said, you'll be able to catch up very quickly, probably in a week or less, because getting upgrades for your gear is easier than ever with the infusion system. Let's say your current gear is 250 light level (no idea what it actually is, but bear with me). You get a new piece with 290 light level, but the stats on it are bad. Just infuse the 250 piece with the 290 crappy stats piece, and boom -- your 250 piece is now 290, and the crappy 290 piece is broken down. Add to that that any engrams you get will decrypt at or above your current light level, and you can gain ground very quickly just by turning in 10 or so blue engrams (which drop pretty frequently). TL;DR -- don't worry about being behind at the start, you'll catch up so fast it won't matter.

Without getting too specific.... TTK changed a lot of things about Destiny. There will be a learning curve for what is new, as well as relearning and adapting to the old. That being said, Bungie has made it very easy to max light without being pigeonholed into one activity path... you can hit 335 via strikes, Court of Oryx, Chalenge of the Elders, or the most obvious... The Kings Fall Raid My advice IW: if you're going to do it, do it sooner than later... definitely before RoI drops.... right now, the drops are good and most importantly, it's a lot easier to do... in the April update, Bungie boosted player LL to 335, but kept the difficulty at 320... anyone with half a brain and half the skill can beat oryx now. Furthermore, ever since the announced the Moments of Triumph for year 2, at least for the ps4, there is a lot of activity. I dunno how many XBone players still play, but if you want to PUG, the pugs are there Here is a nice reddit link for returning players... it's a read, but it'll cover the bases of what you want to know.

He will have to glue his disc back together first, iirc. probably have to rebuy the game I guess. That said, you have no clue how good that felt to snap that disc into two pieces a year ago. It felt awesome. And....It was worth every penny I might have to spend later on another game. Snapping that disc just immediately freed up TONS of free time in my life. I felt free. I don't think anyone realizes just how liberating it is to suddenly find an extra ten hours a week to use (I might be understating that too). I took that free time I had a year ago, and got back into jiu jitsu again, returned to it . . .been going five to six days a week for the past year. Basically, that time was swapped with my gaming time. But I do miss gaming some. I just can't find any games to play. It kind of sucks.

EDIT: Scratch that, it's available 9/20, same day Rise of Iron releases. So maybe not as good of a deal since you won't be able to use these next 4-5 weeks to catch up on stuff you missed, but still a lot of content for the money. iw5000 : Destiny: The Collection is available now. Includes all content released to this point plus the new Rise of Iron expansion for $60. Seeing as you haven't done any of The Taken King stuff yet, this is a lot of content for the money. Probably your best bet if you want to get back into Destiny.

Yes, The Collection includes the new expansion Rise of Iron. All your old characters should be there -- can't imagine any reason why they wouldn't be unless you deleted them before you snapped your disc.

Actually just did some checking, and Amazon has Destiny: The Taken King Legendary edition for $20 right now (might be Amazon Prime only though). This includes the original Destiny, The Dark Below, House of Wolves, and The Taken King (aka everything that's been released so far). Rise of Iron is $30 as a standalone download. So buying The Taken King Legendary edition now plus Rise of Iron separately on 9/20 runs you $50, while getting The Collection on 9/20 runs you $60. Plus getting TTK Legendary now means you get a month or so to play through that and catch up a bit before Rise of Iron comes out. So yeah...that's the way I'd go if I was you.

Just picked Destiny back up after 10 months off. Do we know if year 2 items will be upgradeable to year 3 levels? Should I be spending my time trying to rank up and get to 335, or should I focus on unlocking all of the exotics and doing the year 2 achievements thing (or focus on something else completely)?

I thought I was just seeing things... As far as I've seen, year 2 gear will be upgradable to year 3 levels...and it will still be a 1 to 1 infusion ratio as well. Getting to 335 would get you nice and ready for RoI, but there's a decent chance that it won't be necessary (I probably won't be 335 until after RoI comes out). And that ultimately depends on if you want the year 2 exotics and Moments of Triumph.

There should also be a reference chart for jumping puzzles. Looks like there may be some in RoI. Allow me to editorialize for a moment. I motherfucking hate jumping puzzles. That is all.

Engrams will decrypt to my level or higher in Rise of Iron? That will be a nice change! I'm still only just above the 300 mark on light level because it takes maybe 50 engrams to decrypt even one near my level or above.

Eh...they generally already do, but it seems like it really hits a wall around the 290 or 300 area where actual upgrades are pretty hard to come by. At the beginning of TTK though, nearly every engram decrypted was an upgrade in terms of light level. I assume that will hold true for RoI as well, so the jump from (for example) 330 light now to 360 or 370 in RoI will be pretty rapid, but you'll have to rely on raiding, rank up packages, nightfalls, Archon's Forge, and so forth to get above that threshold, basically the same as now.

I'm torn as I have 20+ saved exotic engrams that I've been told won't decrypt to the new exotic from RoI (the logic that HoW, TDB, and TTK all didn't do this... The April update did but it wasn't a dlc/content expansion)
I'll just keep em and even if I get dupes, they'll be a higher ll
