So i know this isn't big news anymore but I honestly don't understand how he didn't go to jail for this? Can someone please explain?

Civil suits do not lead to prison time. The state has to bring a case for any punitive measures to be considered. That's still possible (though highly improbable), but even then all he'd likely be saddled with is a fine or some significant community service hours. With civil suits you're talking about paying damages to the other party. If the case is decided against him the court will order him to pay an amount of money to the plaintiff(s) and he will be given a timeline on which to do so. The only chance of him going to jail in that case is if he violates the court order by failing to pay the plaintiff, failing to pay the the correct amount, or failing to pay by the timeline decided by the court in which case he is breaking a law by violating the court order. He could be jailed for that, but not for a significant amount of time.

You can't go to jail for not paying a judgment. That is debtors prison which we outlawed 200 years ago. You can however go to jail for "contempt" which is violating a court order other than a money judgment, such as violating a subpoena or not paying a court fee or fine. Shady debt collectors often use fines and fees and court deadlines to get contempt orders and get the threat of jail time for people who owe debts. /Pedant

Wow. Seriously? How in the fuck? What a colossal screwup ruling. Well gee, did he get a timeout in the corner at least?

Rulings like this encourage people to go out and break the law. Absolute disgrace. If this is the kind of results the FTC can get with a simple, slam dunk case against individuals without access to unlimited legal funds, they have no shot a protecting us against corporations.

Honestly IDGAF about justice- what am I, a lawyer? I just wanted to see some pitchforks and torches for once because this was a really scummy thing.

Not shocked this is still going on. Trevor Martin, aka TmarTn, his behavior is almost pedophile like in how he preyed upon unsuspecting young kids online. It would serve that pencil necked geek right to be thrown in prison and raped a few years. His other criminal buddy, Tom Cassell, aka proSyndicate (of a few names), ...he has already fled the country. He's also run afoul of numerous past laws too. Sounds like the lawsuit is still moving ahead, but slowly. Trying to figure out what venue to move forward in. The attorneys lost on their RICO filing, so they had to move it back to the state court jurisdiction. www.pcgamesn.com/counter-strike-global-offensive/csgo-tmartn-csgolotto-lawsuit-2017

More to the point you can't rape the willing. We could just be prescribing him jailbird ass, and that might just be exactly what he was vying for in the first place.
