Why grind Heroics to 365 when you can just get the blues that drop from Sepiks Perfected? No annoying arc burn to worry about and, if you have a ghost that adds Glimmer for kiling Fallen, even more of a bonus. You can do the same with Omnigul too.

P.S. Archon's Forge is currently a trap. Brad and I got lucky last night... I was just wandering and got lost, when I entered it and there were 6 others taking names and kick ass and doing all the heavy lifting. I mean, brad and I got our fun in but I'm glad I wasn't soloing that! I entered the AF at 349, and left it 351/2/3 with 4 350+ bonds, a few 350+ helms, a dozen strange coins or so, a fusion rifle called "saladin's ____" that rolled with max impact and almost max stability... and I got the 2 shiro bounties done as well as the parts of the book that were for public events, 2k kills in the PL, and a few other things... All for the price of 3 splicer keys (because self reviving is a force of habit) lucky us

I'd say this is the raid that is least sniper-dependent. Fusion rifles and sidearms are still pointless, but I used a shotgun a lot. For almost all of it, you need to have something for close-mid range dps and something for long range dps. The choices are basically Sniper+Sword, Shotgun+LMG, or Either+Ghorn. I used Shotgun+LMG for the entirety of my first 2 runs. Are all of the raid weapons dropping? I have the Launcher, Fusion, Shotgun, Scout, and Auto Rifle, but no one I have seen has received any of the others. Sniper is pretty important for the first two bosses and you should be using snipers on the final boss unless you absolutely need a shotgun to kill the yellow bars (why not use a OHKO super?) My group killed the bosses in less cycles than the top streamers were on the first day by focusing on DPS with sniper + gjallarhorn. If you have a decent primary you shouldn't ever be fighting any enemies in CQC other than the aforementioned yellow bars. You listed all the drops available. Also every piece of armor has dropped for various members of my group (though only one person got the helmet). Btw this auto rifle is FANTASTIC. Most of my core raid crew uses it throughout the entire raid. Its like they made a necrochasm that actually WORKS. We like it even though you cant really crit too many things in the final fight. It is a blast on strikes though! I agree, the auto rifle is lots of fun. In terms of Sniper vs Shotgun, it's not that a Sniper isn't the best choice, it's that a shotgun is a legitimate choice for the first time. In other raid boss fights, your loadout was completely restricted. BTW, have you tried Sniper+Dark Drinker? After the third teleport, your team can rush him, pop a WoL bubble, and just start spinning.

Archon's Forge tip - the offering says in the description when you hover over it which enemy it is for. They don't stack, you can only hold one per character at a time, they can't be transferred through the API, and I don't believe they'll drop for you if you already have one. If you pick one up and you're in the Forge, obviously you can just use it immediately. But if you're not, you might want to see if the enemy is the type you need for the weekly bounties and discard it if it isn't.

Are the rewards better if you use an offering? Because i never did and mine were nice
hell, I don't even know where to offer them up

Someone needs to put in an offering to start the event, same as Court of Oryx. It doesn't seem that it matters who put in the offering for the rewards.

Some spoilers in this post pertaining to the final boss... wings' suggestion IS the new best strat for getting to 365. If you can get a good team together with the right gear you can farm omnigul where she first spawns. She won't drop skeleton keys, but she will drop the blue engrams. TheHawkNY I think so too (though I had alot of fun with the shotgun in the VoG raid 2 years ago ). Also your point seems to be proven over mine since the team that just TWO MANNED the final boss both used shotguns. Save the super and horn shots for the boss. Use the shotgun on the captains. Use the hand cannon on the shanks. On my past runs I have been trying to emulate the DPS strategy of slayerrage.... I just need to get another good shotgun before I start to use that over the sniper. I haven't tried the sword. That miiiight work for the final phase, but the highest possible DPS strategy seems to be stacking up (and saving) the cannons for after the third rodeo. I actually suggested raze lighter strats to my team, but the consensus was that we would achieve a higher DPS if we spent less time running to the boss and spent more time sniping/shooting rockets/shooting cannons. I've always had a passion for the sword though...the raze lighter IS my favorite weapon of all time in Destiny.

Sword + sniper is awesome! Let the sword go to a self res warlock or a invis hunter, and you can kill the captain easy peasy. One thing I haven't seen mentioned before: It is not always the best strategy to kill the captain ASAP. If one of your two man teams is having a little trouble killing him (aka, not having a sword), you are better off waiting a few extra seconds, because as soon as you kill yours, the servitor will spawn. And once that servitor gets to his destination you are screwed. So if somebody dies, or one side is having trouble, don't power though it, but give them some extra time. I really think the best setups are: Take down captains and get cannons, 3 guys: - Hunters: Nightstalker, any primary, sniper, sword. Don't all save your tether for the boss, one or two is enough, and there is a big chance you will get it back anyway before the third damage round. Throw a smoke bomb, equip sword, to hit captain (or one hit with tether). - Warlocks: Self res, any primary, sniper, sword. Just go kill the captain with your sword, self res if needed (you should be fine but stuff can happen) - Titans: Unless you don't have 3 hunters/warlocks, don't go for captain duty, otherwise just pop a blessing/armour bubble in front of him, you will have other titans who can create a WoL bubble. Throw bombs and major boss DPS, 3 guys: - 1-2 titans with weapons of light, any primary, sniper, gjallar. - Anything with any primary, sniper and gjallar. Ohyeah, if you keep dying to captains (esp mid and right side), don't jump at him! Simply walk! These guys have pretty decent aim even on an airborne guardian. I really like this raid, sure it is short and all, but at least you actually have to kill some adds! Dumien , What shotgun are you looking for to kill the captains? A full auto one? I think the raid shotgun suffices, but it can have a hard time killing the captain (3 shots most of the time).

Yeah a high impact full auto like my old felwinter's lie would be nice. I'm proud to say that my crew got the total time in raid down to under 3 hours for 3 runs this reset raid (according to the game clock). Outside of the raid we did spend a good deal of time infusing, switching characters, and picking up bounties though.

If you grab the cannon on left or right, immediately run towards center, look down for the captain, hit him with a shot if he's still alive. Center is the most dangerous, so it really helps to take that one out with the cannon if it can't be done safely otherwise.

She won't drop skeleton keys, but she will drop the blue engrams. As this week has solar burn, your Weekly Heroic suggestion could be the best suggestion but it will depend on people's loadouts. Apparently the Sunless Cell strike is the fastest to run out of the 320 level strikes, but I stick to Sepiks Perfected since I have the Dread Explorer Shell at 365+.

I'm not desperate enough to sit in one room farming Omnigul, so I guess that means I'll be heroic striking a lot again this week. Should go pretty quick and easy with small arms and solar burn. Currently sitting at 354 with 355 everything except for a 351 ghost, and now nothing wants to drop over 355. I've gotten like 10 or 12 things in a row at 355 which doesn't help me at all except for giving me infusion fuel for different weapons. Annoying.

You don't have to. You can simply start them up from the director (you need hard mode though!). Although the heroic strike playlist does give you solar burn (which none of the enemies have, and your solar sword does...).
You might have to restart a couple of times, but it will be easier and more fun in the end I guess. Depends on your light though.
Personally I would just play the strikes for as long as it is fun, and go to Omnigul after. I didn't play Destiny for about 4-5 months, so doing ~40 strikes was still fun for me, especially with arc burn supercell.

Like qupie said, you can just do the hard mode version, but the heroic this week is probably easier. When you get to the first place Omnigul spawns, use Tether on her (equip Black Hole on the subclass). Any other Hunters in the group should use Nighthawk+Deadeye. Then use whatever you have to kill her right there. She will drop 2 rare items. Pick them up and then die. Do not run too far up the hill or you will have to restart. Equip the two new items to raise your light level, then go back in and just kill thralls until you all have your super, wipe, and kill her again.
Make sure going in that you have at least a couple of inventory slots for each weapon/armor/ghost. Discard encrypted engrams if you need to, as leaving to go decrypt them may cause the game to fill your slot with a random, making your group restart from the beginning if they refuse to leave. The items will cap out at 365, but getting 2 items every couple of minutes will get you there extremely quickly.
I should be on this evening until around 9pm. If you guys want, I can block out some time to help you with it - just let me know what time you want to do it.

Yeah, not doing the Omnigul farm for sure now, at least on this character. I got a ghost to drop from one of the heroics yesterday, and magically all my blues started dropping in the 357 - 359 range, so I'm making progress again. Also got a 365 Tarantella from the first raid chest, so that helps too. I'm focused solely on my Hunter for now, but I might end up doing the Omnigul farm on alts. We'll see.

I have the nifty new Secret weapon that took people working on Bungie's ARG. The whole thing was really well set up. It went from ciphers to raid secrets (ALA the hidden "basketball court of Oryx) to a quest to MATH PUZZLES to archon forge to MORE MATH PUZZLES to MORE RAIDING to MORE MATH PUZZLES all resulting in an awesome weapon (that I only got to use for 10 minutes before I went to work) that defiinty is up there with the vex mythoclast and gjallarhorn.

I thought I could kill 2 birds with one stone last night by doing the farming for the GH and the Khvostov at the same time... but it didn't work out. I need to go to do the mission that's on the bannerfall map for the gjallie... and I think I just need to get the pin for the Khvostov. So while I won't have a gjallie, I will have raze lighter and running my solar class and instead of being a 352, I'll be a 351. Question that I've sort of never really understood... I know the hunter tethers and makes orbs and we kill Omni at the bottom of the hill, but do the other 2 pop their supers to make enough orbs for the hunter to keep going? Or is it essential to have 2 hunters? IF you are on your hunter Hawk, and it's me and Brad (warlock and titan) will we make enough orbs to keep your tether going?

Good point, Hawk. Not sure I would've realized that otherwise, even though I should know better by now. Sleep deprivation means my brain no worky.
I read through the multiple Reddit threads regarding the ARG/exotic pulse quest...pretty fucking awesome. Now I just need to get my level up so I can actually complete the whole raid!
