BEHOLD. THE ELECTRONIC ENTERTAINMENT EXPOSITION FOR 2017. HOLD ONTO YOUR NIPPLES BEFORE THEY FLY OFF.
Starting us off is the EA Press Conference. The whole thing.
A lot of stuff you already know about. BUT, the highlight piece has to be A Way Out. There was a guy who made Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. An amazing indie title- play it if you want a riveting story with no words. He's moving onto something new with EA.

I'm hoping Bethesda has some interesting stuff, cuz EA and Microsoft fell flat for me.
The one game I'm hoping makes a surprise appearance this E3 is Cyberpunk 2077, but all signs point to use hearing more next year.

The whole show.
That's right, folks, the new Xbox One X is coming out for $499 And by the looks of it Halo has stepped down as the poster child in favour of Gears of War.
There's a lot to cover, and I don't want to spam 30 videos. I'm picking out ten new releases and posting them. Metro: Exodus Ashen: a Dark Souls-esque brawler. Another Battle Royale game, but with an interesting aesthetic Pirate PvP game, reminds me of Guns of Icarus for some reason. Totally aimed at streamers. AW HELL SON, IT'S CUPHEAD Crackdown 3 trailer with Terry Crews. Obligatory pixelly indie game Ori and the Will of the Wisps (XB1/Win10 exclusive) Life is Strange: Before the Storm Sequel to Shadow of Mordor.

I thought the Microsoft showing was pretty solid and their best showing in quite a while. If nothing else, the mass production of 4k capable consoles will drag the prices of 4k stuff down a bit faster than it would have otherwise.

I thought the Microsoft showing was pretty solid and their best showing in quite a while. If nothing else, the mass production of 4k capable consoles will drag the prices of 4k stuff down a bit faster than it would have otherwise. It's a niche product. I'd be shocked if this outsold the Switch. Only one in five PS4s sold since Pro launched have been Pros. Switch will outsell XxXB1XxX 10 to 1. There really wasn't much to the Scorpio reveal. I guess it's to be expected since they did the spec thing with Digital Foundry a couple of months ago. The actual console itself looks nice enough I guess, but the S is better aesthetically in my opinion. For a product that is $100 more than and 1 year later than its direct competitor I'm not sure it's really good enough. The CPU is still kinda trash. The 4k Blu-ray is nice, but people don't want discs. They want to stream. Sony isn't wrong there. And the S has 4k Blu-ray anyway so saying the X is niche is almost an understatement. Anyone who has been chasing 'most powerful console' has been with Sony for the last 4 years, and switching mid-gen is a tough sell. The only reason to get the X is if you're already on Xbox One and you realize it's bad. Overall E3 was a huge bore. I mean great, maybe if Destiny 2 is awful then Anthem will show up a year later to replace it... though I mean it does seem pure 3rd person which I'm not sure I'm into. The most exciting thing of the conference was that maybe I'll be able to play Mercenaries on OG Xbox Backwards Compatibility at some point in the future. Sony even dumped the COD multiplayer reveal trailer in the middle of a sea of trailers to where nobody noticed or cared. I mean I watched the Foxtroting thing and didn't even realize it was supposed to be the big multiplayer reveal until the next day when I saw the thumbnail in my YouTube inbox. I guess Ubi has Mario*Rabbids XCOM. I mean that's kinda cool, right? And portable Rocket League... Perhaps the ultra-rare quadruple dip for me? Oh but hey look the Switch isn't in stock on Amazon because of course Nintendo isn't making enough of the stupid thing. Games industry get yo' shit together plz.

I think xbox blew the "worthless" PS4pro out of the water with their new console, but apparently nobody seems to care. Even though "the PS4 has better graphics" was kind of a big thing back in the day....
Allover, I am kind of meh on this E3. Might just be my personal Ethereum hype though.

Blowing a year old system out of the water with a new, unreleased system, should be the bare bones minimum it should do

Hardware is nice and all but I don't have 4K, VR, or $499 so the XB1X is a nonissue for me. And I already have a PS4 so without 4K or VR the Pro is not nearly enough of an upgrade for me to bother shelling out $399 either. If I had ~$400 to throw at something I'd be looking at a switch for Zelda, Mario Kart, and Metroid 4 when it hits. Arms and Splatoon both look fun too.
When it comes to XB1 between the price and the lack of any real exclusives I don't feel like I'm really missing out on much by just having a PS4... with the Switch... well that's different and I want one... if I had the money.
What if I already had a switch and the money? hmm... Nah I'd use the money to upgrade my PC. It needs a new CPU/Mobo. ;3 If I didn't already have a current gen console then maybe, but it would probably come down more to exclusives than power for me. But then what games you care about is different for each gamer so I can totally see why some would swing MS and others Sony.
Still, in terms of selling potential here I think Nintendo beat the pants off everybody. I don't think XBox1X really changes things much. Some will get it, but most of those people will already be XBox people. I don't think it's gonna convert many away from PS4. As for people buying into this gen of consoles just now Sony still looks pretty competitive with all those exclusives and while the hardware of the XB1X is impressive they don't have a killer app that blows Sony away. And most gamers don't have 4K anyway so... *shrug*

Until the XBONEX runs something I actually play quite a bit better than the regular XBONE, the whole idea is a non-starter. I play on 65" TVs at a perfectly reasonable 10 to 12 foot viewing distance, so even if I did go out and upgrade to a 4K set I'm not going to see much difference, if any, vs 1080p unless I move several feet closer, buy an 80" TV (which is so enormous I don't know if I could even get it through my front door), or start playing on a monitor instead (at which point I might as well play on PC).
Now, if it ran everything at 60 fps in 1080p, I might consider it, maybe. Too bad the powers that be decided pushing for fancy schmancy 4K graphics that relatively few people can take advantage of was more important than locking in 60 fps at a slightly less impressive graphical level that everyone can take advantage of.

Yeah give me a developer that pushes for 1080p @60 FPS standard and I think that will be pretty big. Of course it is harder to show off. You literally can't show it at all in magazines and most people don't watch streamed videos in 60 FPS either. For that matter its different if you're watching vs playing. If you're just watching something at 30 FPS just a little motion blur tends to make it look really smooth, but if you're actually playing a game that doesn't help you at all. Still I think that developers in the industry underestimate gamers. I think that a lot of gamers do appreciate 60 FPS and if they really pushed it and then marketed it, even the ones that aren't really familiar with it would come around and jump on.
It's just easier to sell graphical fidelity than framerate not only to gamers but to publishers and to executives. They are the ones that really need to learn to appreciate framerate. If only we could get developers to give gamers a choice like they did for Last of Us on PS4. 60 FPS vs some moderate graphical fidelity, and then see how many gamers turn on 60 FPS. Of course you have to make sure gamers know about the feature, but if this were a common feature in a lot of titles then that wouldn't be an issue. I'm pretty sure we'd see differing trends in various genres too, but that's not a bad thing. It could generate some useful feedback for developers letting them know a little bit about how gamers feel about their titles.

All things considered, I think the biggest winner in E3 was this guy. As for the games themselves I personally found nothing interesting because I have done nothing but play Magic the Gathering for the last several months like a hermit. You'd think you'd eventually run out of things to do with 5000 cards. You don't. You really don't.

Blowing a year old system out of the water with a new, unreleased system, should be the bare bones minimum it should do Agreed, but the PS4 pro was just way too early... Why bring out a new console that doesn't really add anything? If you can actually add something to your console the year after? I feel the New xbox could actually pump out 1080p 60fps on things like destiny 2, or other new games.

I think PS4 Pro was about getting a year jump on X, putting something out with some support for VR and 4K, an just to have a SKU to compete with Switch for marketing... in other words more of a strategic than a practical product.
