Lol are we on our way to become rahools salt imperium?
The story was ok guys, and so was the character development. Not every game can be last of us or horizon on story telling.
It was better than destiny 1, it was better than cod. it was better than all the MMO I have ever dabbled in (long time ago though).
As a matter of fact, the only FPS games that really jump out to be better were halo and titanfall 2 for me. But now I think of it... those games are not multiplayer games. I can imagine telling a story is hard as fuck when players are sitting in full chat parties, in which half wants to grind asap skipping every single cutscene... I would personally give destiny 2 story a 6/10. Which is satisfactory.

People were jamming those bright engrams that first week just to get gold trace shader and the salty emote lol. I remember hanging out in the tower and seeing the feed. As much hate as the shader change gets... it was really profitable for Bungie. I personally don't mind it since I took the shaders I didn't like and converted them into fireteam medalions to help me get the gear I wanted.
Yet, Lots of people on Reddit are calling them out for lying in that investor call. lol...
Eververse is how they made all that money... and they got people to stick around to hit max light (and probably spend $) because you can hit max light doing whatever the hell you want to do.
Eververse is one of the more cleverly designed aspects of D2. They don't sell you anything egregiously dubious like the Blops3 Marshals, but they do give you the ability to purchase shortcuts. If you Touch Football it like I did for the first month, you are going to have a full set of everything with some extra medalions to boot without ever dropping a penny on eververse.
For the casual though? Dropping a little bit of cash for some cosmetics isn't bad! And hey! If I don't get the stuff that I want, at least I get to make some fireteam medalions so me n' my bois get the sick benefits!
I have high hopes for the future of D2 if the liveteam comes in and shapes things up. I had fun in the raid with the DenBros this week, but yeah... no real reason to play outside of the lulz until they give the 1% some incentive. Turns out that maybe I shouldn't call myself the 1% anymore since it is super easy to reach max power and being 305 doesn't really give you a benefit lol.

Honestly, I think Eververse is completely fine, and so is the shader system. I am having way more fun with it personally. I create different colored loadouts for PvP / PvE / subclasses.
Players complaining about Eververse are really searching for stuff to complain about imho. In destiny 1, you had a chance to earn a special loot box once or twice per week. The new mechanic so you can grind out bright engrams as much as you like is giving us as much free eververse as you like, as long as you grind. Really if anything, micro transactions have been more friendly than it ever was to players who are not spending any money.
(although, the fact that every special ship/speeder/etc is not locked behind Eververse is a letdown on the end game part of the game. No cosmetics can be earned except for some shaders)
Lying the in the investors call? Lol I am going to get some popcorn and head over to Reddit I guess. Diehard players are so oblivious to how many players quit really early in D1. I think a higher average hours played in the first month per user is no stretch at all. And don't get me wrong, I hate the current "end game", but as a company and game developer, they did a really really good job on Destiny 2. A couple of friends of mine who play a few short sessions a month are having a blast, they hated D1.

Gambling is fine? For a game catered towards teens? What?

I would personally give destiny 2 story a 6/10. Which is satisfactory. I just think gamers hype up Bungie story telling with regards to Destiny and Halo. There are plenty of shooters far better out there for story telling, many of which are third person. It's not a bad story though. Just a shame that the potential of story telling is probably dictated by contractual obligations, e.g. keeping this a teen rating so no dark scenes if this is true. That would explain why stuff like the Book of Sorrows didn't make it in the game and Bungie has never done human v human combat in their games (from what I remember). Would love to fight Dredgen Yor etc.

Gambling is fine? For a game catered towards teens? What? Well that is the only argument I can kind of agree with (any form of random loot is gambling though so ehhh it gets really thin real fast imho). But that is never the argument that is being discussed around destiny honestly. Still, I don't think kids are the ones spending money on D2 cosmetics. I mean, 5 bucks for 3 engrams? That is not something kids are going to buy. Grinding in game would be more proficient than taking a job and buying silver.

Xur is on the ledge of the Wandering Cove by the Cabal drill PE, in EDZ, selling
Graviton Lance @ 270 (265+5 Legendary Mod) for 29 Legendary Shards... apparently it's a lot better on PC than on Console Young Ahamkara's Spine, Hunter Gauntlets @ 270 (265+5 Legendary Mod) for x23 Legendary Shards... same as D1, but with tracking instead of extra trip mine Mask of the Quiet One, Titan Helmet @ 270 (265+5 Legendary Mod) for x23 Legendary Shards... a bit inconsistant, but very good Nezarec's Sin @ 270 (265+5 Legendary Mod) for x23 Legendary Shards... in datto's opinion, the best PVE exotic and top 2/3 PVP one so long as you are using a void energy weapon and don't need to be a void subclass... I recently started doing this and I quite concur....

Get an exotic engram and hope you get the exotic you're missing. Get tokens and hope Shaxx gives you Better Devils. While I'm against any and all "loot crate" systems, Destiny has at least done a good job of actually keeping it to strictly cosmetics (unless you want to count fireteam medallions or rapid summon sparrows which I don't think give very much of an in-game benefit). I do think the option should be there to just straight up buy exactly what you want at any time, rather than having to wait for it to hit the "featured at Eververse" thing in a given week. That being said, this isn't CoD where statistically better gear is locked away behind an RNG paywall, so that's a plus. On the subject, I think I'd read a while back that some court somewhere ruled that loot crates weren't gambling because you're guaranteed to win something out of them, even though that something is very often not the thing you want. That seems hilariously shortsighted to me, but it's also technically correct given the way gambling laws are written. Legal or not, it's still scummy and shouldn't be a thing, but it's going to exist as long as people are dumb enough to keep buying the gosh darn golly gee whiz things.

Ah, but what if I told you that the XP gains have diminishing returns because you have earned too much XP too quickly? It's being talked about here. I have noticed it myself so I don't bother to grind XP without the Well Rested bonus. While I personally wouldn't buy loot boxes, I find it hypocritical that we live in countries that seem to 'protect' people of certain ages on certain content, whether it's violence or sex in media etc. whilst stuff like this goes on. The Isle of Man, a British territory, considers it to be gambling because the digital rewards are given financial value, which makes sense because that's partly why they are protected by intellectual property laws.

The Isle of Man? Really? Really? Really.... Well I wouldn't expect anything like that to come from North America tbh. Japan does the same too anyway.

Minor patch today Source: www.bungie.net/en/News/Article/464591.0.6.2 The about hitches. Fixed an issue, introduced with 1.0.6.1 patch, causing periodic hitches during gameplay for some players

BUT WAIT.... there's more Because, we can't do this all day More details.... to be fair, most all of those are soft stats. There's really only one measurement that kind of matters. How many units did they sell (which then ties into revenues) When Activision was setting record after record with CoD, they openly disclosed (and bragged) how many units they sold. Total, per country, and every little detail. When the numbers drop, they immediately drop back on the soft stats.

Close enough I suppose, as that video is just beyond epic. One of the best biking films ever made.
