Not sure how to feel about the health seringe thing. Will have to see how I like it. Potentially faster than a 5 second heal, but I'm not sure who asked for this feature. Reminds me of more Fortnite copy pasta.

i usually forget to play the campaign so i dont care. might hurt them pretty bad seeing how people reacted to titanfall 1 and street fighter 5 leaving them out. they needed to give up something so they could focus on the battle royale mode. People cared that Street Fighter 5 left out its campaign? Even for beat-em-ups' standard Street Fighter has never really done well in that area anyway.

I am in the " I don't give a shit about a campaign" camp.
Haven't attempted to finish one since Kevin Spacey blue balled me half way thru AW.

Spacey? I haven't attempted to finish one ever since Soap died and Price threw some Cosack commie down a flight of stairs

In case anyone is interested, the decision was based on the campaign gradually having fewer and fewer completion rates, see here.

First, that ignores the PSN which, and I might be mistaken no I'm not is a sizable chunk of the console market.
Second, and even bigger, it ignores the bigger issue that that maybe... just maybe... the stories were absolute poopookaka and not worth our time?
You know, the whole "If you build it, they will come?"
I believe, especially for the PSN, if you make a decent campaign mode... players will play campaigns. There are a lot of great single player campaigns in 2017-18 for the PSN. I'm not saying that they had to make an epic saga ala GoW or HZD, but especially on PSN, there is a market for it if done right

The only one I ever enjoyed was BO3's co-op campaign. The others I just played because I paid for them. I will say that Rourke's antics in Ghosts were hilarious and I want to see more but it'll probably never happen.

Yeah I never understood why people bothered with the campaigns. They were like 4 or 5 hours of boring glorified rail shooters. The last one I finished was Black Ops 1, I think. Zombies is more compelling even for single player so I'd much rather they concentrate on MP and zombies.

The reason there is no campaign (according to the seemingly reliable leaks) is because they tried to make one, it went shitty, and they gave up to focus on BR instead. Black Ops 3 campaign clearly went shitty as well given that it's a confused mess of a game. I think it's just a case of ambition without talent. You could really see with BO3 that they thought they were making some mind-blowing shit.

And it's not like there aren't plenty of events they can choose from for a campaign so people can't say "everything has been done before so they ran out of ideas" or something else ridiculous.

Campaign completion for Playstation platforms (source: psnprofiles.com/search/games?q=call%20of%20duty ) Call of Duty Classic: 21.46% World at War: 45.47% Modern Warfare 2: 58.54% Black Ops: 50.45% Black Ops: Declassified: 28.75% Modern Warfare 3: 51.81% Black Ops 2: 38.97% Ghosts (PS3): 40.34% Ghosts (PS4): 39.07% Advance Warfare (PS3): 39.43% Advanced Warfare (PS4): 42.51% Black Ops 3(PS4): 22.98% Infinite Warfare: 26.50% Call of Duty 4 (Remastered): 29.12% WW2: 31.57% Average campaign completion of Steam/Xbox/Playstation platforms: Modern Warfare 2: 49.11% Black Ops: 40.15% Modern Warfare 3: 46.27% Black Ops 2: 32.56% Ghosts: 35.98% Advanced Warfare: 37.34% Black Ops 3: 13.36% Infinite Warfare: 19.77% WW2: 30.72% There's a comment on the article wings posted that lists completion rates for some single player games. Does it really matter if most people don't finish the game?

I had no idea that many people played the single player campaigns.

That big spike for ww2 tho. CoD has devolved into a directionless franchise that has no idea what it wants to do anymore; devs and Activision are entirely reactive now.

On top of all that, Treyarch said this isn't setting a precedent, there will likely be campaigns in the future, just not this year.

MW4 next year will surely have a campaign. Apparently people who actually played the IW campaign thought it was decent so who knows... maybe MW4 will be good? Well at least I'll like it. I mean I liked MW3 so clearly I just have a soft spot for that subseries.

Unless the terms of the deal have a time limit, which is certainly possible. I’d take this rumor with a massive gain of salt, though.

CoW-TitanWarfare
agreed; big mountain of salt

If it's going to be a modern setting, I think Ghosts 2. Campaign ended on a cliff hanger, besides I think the mask and unit is supposed to be a loose connection to the Modern Warfare trilogy. It's apparent that remakes/remasters are legal for them.
Off topic: Is the like button the thumbs down?

The "Black Ops Pass" seems to be popular; it can't be purchased separately, the maps will drip out over time rather than in packs, and none of the content will be available apart from the pass. It's also only available digitally with pre-order of digital version of game. People getting disc copies understandably miffed atm.

Split the user base early on to try to force players to purchase the pass. They’re essentially doubling the price of the game. Haha, no.

Wait, what? That's just stupid. Does Activision really want to stop publishing hard copies or something, cause that's basically saying "Buying a hard copy? We don't want your extra money" which is bizarre.

I guess they looked at what everyone else was doing and decided, "Naw, fuck that, we want every single penny you have at any cost"

The PC version has been using this business model since BO3 and it's always been $50. Not only is this $10 cheaper but you get a ton of extra stuff on top of just the maps.

Drift0r just put out a critical video on the BO4 nonsense. It's a solid watch. Interestingly, in it he specifically mentions MW4 as coming next year.

I think that's just what everyone is assuming the next IW CoD will be. Anyway, I'm not sure how this will turn out. I think the most likely is that sales will go down a bit but the large majority will still buy it anyway since it's happened so many times in the past. CoD has an actual threat this time so it might change. PC really needs BR and the DLC maps to be free.
