After a recent update, the game population has now been split into pass-owners and non-pass-owners.
This has completely ruined the game for me.
Wait times are longer. Connections are worse. And EVERY LOBBY IS SWEATY.
There is no longer such a thing as a casual game for me. Every lobby consists of everyone on the opposite team jump-shotting around corners.
Don't get me wrong, I don't mind the occasional try-hard lobby. But it being EVERY SINGLE MATCH is getting kinda old.
And I know it's the pass because when I party with my friend without the pass, we get instant matches with great connections and normal players.
I paid money for this. And I can't even opt out. This sucks.

You're not super quick to this conclusion but hey I'm glad ya got there. Most companies have accepted that the map pass model isn't healthy for online shooters and have tried to make their money from people who want to spend cash on... playing dress up with their little video game lady. For some reason Activision went with "why not both?" Their season pass sales must still be pretty strong if they're not willing to let them go.

I dropped off shooters sound 2012-2013 so yeah, I'm a little late to the party lol. Only started back up thanks to pubg piquing my interest. Back then map DLC was the de facto standard.

I've seen DLC maps in the map vote less than ten times since the first two came out. I've seen Elevation five or six times and Lockup once, never seen the other two. It's a shame since Lockup actually seemed decent.

I think in the majority of COD games I've gotten the season pass for I have failed to actually play every single map. Sometimes you move on from the game early. Sometimes you play in a party with that one Foxtroting cheapskate who doesn't want to pay any money on a game he played for 1,000 hours. And if you're not there with map packs on launch day, and instead come back a couple of months later that shit is all dead. That got me on multiple Battlefield games. The no season pass model can be a bit shit too if the game doesn't take off. Battlefield V is looking a bit sketchy in the long term, everyone is worried that they'll never actually get to like D-Day, Wake Island, Battle of the Bulge, Stalingrad and all that iconic shit. Titanfall 2 ended up having one new map, and then just a bunch of ports from Titanfall 1 once they realized it wasn't going to be a big long term hit. But... I'd say I got more out of that 1 map and the TF1 maps than I did out of a lot of paid map packs so I'll stick with that system. And when it does work out, like R6 Siege, it's much better than any game with paid map packs. The last time I really felt like getting the map packs worked well for me was like... Black Ops 2. A lot of good DLC maps, a lot of solo queueing, and it just seemed like the population was always there. I've seen DLC maps in the map vote less than ten times since the first two came out. I've seen Elevation five or six times and Lockup once, never seen the other two. It's a shame since Lockup actually seemed decent. You're living the PC life, I'm surprised you've ever seen a DLC map!

I bought the season pass for BO3 and IW and played a hell of a lot of hours in both. I feel like I got my money's worth. I don't remember before that but I think I just paid as I went for individual DLC's. I was never a pre-order/$100 for a video game type consumer, took a while for Activision to beat me into submission I guess.
I have not paid for one since IW though and it has been a good idea. I hardly played WWII at all, and all I play in BO4 is Blackout, and they cheaped out this year and only give people 2 MP maps per DLC release rather than the usual 4 which is absurd. This cycle takes the cake for cheaping out and just scraping the bottom of the barrel with rehashed content.
If I remember correctly a few months ago in an update, there was a bug that showed everyone in the lobby who did not have the map pack (a yellow warning triangle appeared next to your name) and basically everyone had the warning sign. I.e. the numbers for season pass owners this cycle are pretty dismal, it looks like.

Wouldn't mind if they released the season pass maps for free but I'm not holding my breath. It's pretty crazy how much it costs for DLC maps in old games.

I hadn't played BO4 for about one or two months, got on today.
I had multiple games where it was 4 v 5 for a while, or less. I would agree fewer and fewer people are playing this game. Which is fine by me, BO4 MP really isn't that good. There's nothing really new or updated in it, other than maybe slightly better graphics. And the one new'ish thing, slow TTK's, only makes playing solo incredibly frustrating. Especially since almost no one actually plays the objectives. Which is nothing new, as well as the fact that every new iteration of this game, the developers fail to address this. Seriously, ....why can't these pencil necked nerds just once, address objective play. They'll put every incentive in the world into getting players to buy camos, uniforms, guns, reticules, all these extras...but no incentives to actually play the objectives.
It's become old and made the game stale.

hey
I'm hanging in there. Went into remission last Sept, then came right back in November. Fired my first doctor, and switched to a new one in December. Difference of opinion on how to fight this. Old doctor wanted me to go to the next line of defense/chemo drug...i insisted the original one still could work, we just stopped to soon. New doctor did what i wanted, so i switched and went back on original chemo drug. Been taking it since December. It's working, what's showing up right now is one 10mm swollen lymph node. That's it so far. Hopefully i can smash it back down again.
Chemo hasn't been to bad. It's just a few days, every other week. Not missing work, and have been able to do my wrestling/jiu jitsu 4 to 5x a week throughout. Feel strong and good. For now, as no clue what my future holds. I just don't think about it to much, just live in the present. It's not so bad doing that, in fact, refreshing.
Still playing BO4 and that's about it for games. I am excited about the release of World War Z on Xbox in a few weeks. Pumped for it, as i love zombie shit. I really hope this game doesn't suck lol.
