From today's update:
"Later in Operation Grand Heist, we’re also introducing our new Barebones game mode featuring classic gameplay rules and no Specialists"
Woohoo!!!
I'm so excited!

I'm assuming PS4 for now. I'm curious what classic gameplay rules means. Perks or no perks? Scorestreaks and equipment?

My interpretation was that it'll be another gamemode like core and hardcore with classic (tdm, domination, etc) playlists available within it.
My biggest fear is that it'll just end up being a featured playlist for a week. Which is nice for that week but doesn't really solve the longevity problem (burnout) that specialists are creating for many players.

So after playing it some, my general impressions are that it's much slower. Not necessarily a good or a bad thing. But without all the Intel provided by various specialists there were a lot more times that I just couldn't find anyone.
Dead silence having no counter meant there were a lot more times I got shot in the back, and along with that a lot more people corner-tactical loitering to avoid it happening to them.
Lastly, the lack of free score flowing in from specialists has greatly reduced the number of score streaks being called in.
So far I like it, but there's a couple tweaks that I think could refine the experience. The first would be to slightly increase score awarded for each kill. (I'm a TDM player so other game modes may need different adjustments). The lack of UAVs is probably part of the reason why this mode is slower.
Second, I actually wouldn't mind gear being reintroduced. I don't think many players had issue with gear, and accoustic sensor is an important counter for dead silence. Additionally all the gear functionality has been in previous CODs as perks, with the exception of armor. Obviously equipment charge serves no purpose, but the others (with or without armor) would be decent additions.

I enjoy it, probably more than normal multiplayer.

argyle antiques sure is buddy but it's not that fun. And lol the sound perk is locked out. No footsteps plus random ass spawns... no thank you.

argyle antiques sure is buddy but it's not that fun. And lol the sound perk is locked out. No footsteps plus random ass spawns... no thank you. Yup spawns have always been and continue to be laughably terrible. Spawn me alone on one side of the map. Then I push out and proceed to spawn the entire enemy team behind me where I just spawned... Why spawn me there?! Seriously I can't tell you how many times I've died to bullshit spawns. There's been many a time where I've gotten 3-4 kills on only 2 people. Which is BS from their POV. Only for me to be overrun because they keep spamming there and eventually I can't reload or heal fast enough. Which is BS for me. Spawns are truly awful.
