So I *should* lower idle sway if I want more precision when firing? Strictly speaking, yes. Practically speaking, the more recoil the weapon has the more that will impact accuracy and overshadow the effect of idle sway. (Unless exaltedvanguard is right and I just completely missed something.)

Unless it changed for this title, idle sway turns off during firing. That's the way it's always worked in previous CoDs (including the most recent title BO4. This could usually be seen the easiest on semi-auto rifles or snipers, where frame by frame will show no sway for a brief period after recoil resets from a shot. Hmm... I think maybe you're seeing recoil whose impact on aim is far greater than the slow movement of idle sway. I'm almost certain that if you fired a weapon with high zoom and a large idle sway amplitude you'd see the pattern had continued throughout. (But I'd be happy to be proven wrong.)

With the caveat that I haven't touched MW and therefore don't know if anything has changed since the last CoD I played: yes, idle sway is always in effect as long as you're ADS.

Gave the beta a try. I'm sort of confused about how some of the mechanics work. (I've read nothing, watched no YT videos, etc.) I have to heal myself, or something? Equipment like the acoustic sensor (I can hear everyone, AND I get a big mini map warning they are near me??) seems "always on" but it's in the same slot as concussion grenades? (Am I not remembering that right?) What is the big circle around me on the minimap? Etc. It looks and feels sort of fun. I am optimistic. Keeping the sliding and losing the jumping/wall running seems like a good compromise on the snooze fest that is WWII, vs. the crack smoking insanity that is Infinite Warfare. Also "tactical rifles?" Huh? And WHERE ARE THE SHOTGUNS! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?!?! (I assume this is a beta only omission.) Almost forgot, good lord is the UI terrible. Does this just get worse and worse every year? Shotguns are in the secondary slot again.

the more gun you shoot, the more recoil you feel the more fun you toot, the more boil you peel To the OP: that's a really hard question to answer succinctly. What you see with each weapon is an emergent phenomenon that depends on the recoil model (how recoil is "simulated") and the parameters defined for each weapon in that model. And unfortunately, there's no simple way to relate exactly what those parameters do, as the model makes heavy use of physics concepts to produce the final effect you see. In short, it's not exactly intuitive how changing even a single parameter affects the behavior of any given weapon, except in a broad qualitative sense (e.g., increasing adsViewKickCenterSpeed improves viewport recovery between shots). So, as much as I'd like to be able to point to a single variable and say "that's why you're seeing what you see", I really can't. I recommend you read this: Recoil Explanation. It's a bit technical and not entirely up-to-date, so feel free to ask me questions if you have any.

you guys honestly might be clinically retarded if thats the interpretation you got from his post like i have no idea how someone whos read this conversation manages to think hes talking about how people should decide who to vote for I've been reading this conversation and I've concluded that the conversation itself is clinically retarded. That's not a reflection of its participants, though, just politics generally.

I'm guessing here, but I imagine there's no functional ADS delay in MWR. (It was patched in BO2.) If Marvel4 corrects me, listen to him.

So does the suppressor just decrease the range by a specific amount of units, or is there an actual multiplier behind it? The CoD 4 sheet doesn't have an attachments page showing the effects (understandably, since there are only 3 attachments that affect weapon stats and it's easier to just show their effects in the sheet for the individual weapons). What bunny said. Before MW3, the game did not have the code support to represent attachments as objects in and of themselves. Thus, weapons with "attachments" were actually just duplicated weapons that included whatever modification to its stats the attachments provided.

intro: Hi all, I redid my Black Ops 2 recoil numbers because there were some errors in them. Here is the new spreadsheet. I calculated the recoil by measuring the area where the viewpoint can move to (the area of variance as I like to call it). < drive.google.com/open?id=1dfdKIfPP-1gzrYcKInyT0JMJ8c9E2KIyLH_M4p9bw60> Also here is the reasoning behind some of my formulas: the peaktime is when the viewkick reaches the highest of its point. This is used to determine which distance formula to use. d=1/2at^2+(si)t where t/2=peaktime 0=1/2at^2+(si)t to find when the viewkick returns to resting point assuming no weird deceleration 0=si + 1/2at^2 factor out t=0 t= -2(si)/a peaktime= t/2= -si/a probaddie's dist formula for 1/16 partial deceleration only occurs if the gun is returning back to its initial point. so columns N-Q just checked that firetime>peaktime (they are hidden now). recoil can never go below the inital aimpoint in black ops 2, so u can assume viewkick down = 0 for the first shot. Eh, sorry for being late to the party. You asked this while I was in the middle of a busy school term and overlooked it. Looks like your calculations are mostly pretty solid. This is close to what I used to do to calculate the recoil scores way back when I started here. But eventually, I found a few shortcomings with that approach. The biggest problem is that the average distance from the center over time generally does not grow linearly. This is because of the locking that happens at the center of each dimension and the fact that velocity rolls are also dropped to 1/16th of their value when they are opposed to the current position. The only case where growth in average distance is linear is with weapons that only kick in one direction and never re-center. Thus, calculating the first-shot inaccuracy generally doesn't say a lot about inaccuracy beyond that point. There is one snag with your process, though. I don't see how you're accounting for the case where the weapon can re-center on the first shot. In essence, there's an accumulation of probability near the zero point in each dimension that simply calculating the area doesn't account for. It's possible for two weapons which have the same "area" - in the sense that you've calculated - but where one has a non-zero chance of coming to rest on the edges. Thus, both weapons would have the same measure of inaccuracy but one would actually be superior. Hope that helps. If you have any more questions (or I've overlooked something) fire another post.
