My evaluation is the game sucks because they gave me a permaban! Why? Who knows. The appeals process is a joke (it straight up tells you unless your account was stolen you will lose your appeal.) So really my only option is to sit around and hope that they made enough false bans in the same way that they have to overturn a nice huge batch. Didn't eat a ban in Warzone/MW despite playing that a whole lot more.
As a more serious evaluation it's a pretty mediocre COD game. You can't look at it next to MW and say with a straight face that it's not a step backwards. Had some gun in Gun Game, FFA is okay when I run a decent weapon but most of the time I'm just trying to level up guns for use in Warzone. Playing CW with the C58 for example was pure torture.
Gunfight is okay, it grew on me a bit. MW Gunfight + MW Launch Maps was just way better. Later MW maps and pretty much all of the CW Gunfight maps lost the opening peek dynamic and just became more of a sad 2v2 hide and seek S&D mode.
Grinding the Gunfight tournaments for blueprint rewards was pretty fun though.
I've literally purchased every main COD entry starting with the original. Many of them double/triple-dipped on Xbox/PS/PC. Even gifted copies of various COD games. But I won't be able to in good conscience purchase the another one if I don't get my CW account back in good standing and soon.

If you attempt to sprint into a window, even from a stop, the window should break. This would solve a lot of awkward "stuck on the window" moments. I think PUBG works like that... I don't know if I have a strong opinion either way. I think it'd be fine if meleeing a window was more consistent. Non-issue for me. Natural consequence of not having team damage. Having rounds penetrate both ways is a bad solution. Just make shooting through your teammate act like a brick wall. In a game where you literally teleport out of a moving vehicle when pressing the exit button rather than have an animation for it, and damage if you move at excess speed, the animation seems out of place. I'd rather they fix the former than the latter but the gas mask could use some tweaks. I think automatic equip is fine. At which point it should just stay on. No clue how 'out of buttons' control players are in this game, but there could be something to take it off in the inventory screen, and dedicated keybind for kb+m. No need to have a full toggle where you can take it off, take damage, put it back on and heal to buy more time in the zone. Or I guess you could do a full toggle option, but make it so you can't toggle off while still in the gas. That way you could milk your health once before putting on the mask. Not sure if this was gas mask animation related, since it never actually equipped, but this shit was pretty rage inducing... streamable.com/7mh3gfDied to the guy in the SUV immediately after since I was low health, had to reload, all that good stuff... Which is why I went for the stealth kill in the first place, he was just driving around third-partying... of course that goober with the RPG didn't bother to explode him because why bother, just hide until you can't hide any more. But yeah... animation starts... the guy makes a death sound... drops his gun like a dead guy... next thing I know he's coughing behind me and shooting a rocket. Really stupid way to lose a game. Can't say I've really noticed this. Well I have noticed that you need to open parachute earlier than you might think to not splat, but I can cut chute, track and shoot people pretty effectively in free fall, *shrug*. 1 million ticks per microsecond or bust Meh, only time it messes with me is when there's some jagged terrain and you're not really high enough for it to give you the option to parachute, then you fall farther out but since you've fallen some you still aren't quite high enough, but you've now reached your terminal (in the punny sense) velocity and splat. Those situations are easy enough to avoid. Cutting and redeploying a chute is a nonsense mechanic anyway. The less stupid compromise is just have one chute deployment per jump. One cut. A weird silly thing that wouldn't be needed if they just made the plates give you a full 50 at all times. Current system is needlessly complex. Agreed, should just give you the plate. I don't think an instant cancel should be available. Heal times are so comically short in this game already, you deserve to take a risk of getting caught off guard while trying to sneak in a heal during a fight. Do you not have pupils or something? Anyway, as illram said, on PC we just work around it with graphics filters. I'd have just let it be but invisible Roze sweats were the final straw. Hey, where the hell is black Roze skin on your QoL list? I guess I know what operator you're running. PC is the place to be, even for controller players, in COD now. I'd rather run into the occasional cheater than have to play on console to get games. But yeah, the cheating thing is something the industry as a whole needs to figure out. So fences break aim assist? And you want it to work through fences? I will always vote for less aim assist. No strong opinion here, I get stuck playing on east coast most of the time when squadding up. 80ms is still playable. In BOCW I'd say you need to keep it to 50ms max before you're screwed. I haven't gotten any major packet loss. Uhh, no opinion on that specifically. For DBNO mechanics I'd just remove self-revive. I have absolutely nothing positive to say about it.

wittyscorpion, I will admit that having watched that Xbox conference live, Destiny 2 going to GamePass was just about the only interesting thing they showed. I think I have about 2 years left on my Game Pass. So assuming I stick with my plan of buying the consoles when they come out, the path of least resistance would be to play on the Series X. I could skip the expansion on PC for now and migrate back whenever they finally ship a proper cross-play solution. A couple of issues with that. I'm not currently playing D2... and am putting all my grinding time into Elite... where I've just about done all the boring work and can now actually enjoy the endgame such as it is. And Microsoft and Sony are playing this weird game of pricing chicken. Nobody wants to announce their MSRP. I'm not sure if they're looking to undercut each other, or they just know their boxes are going to be expensive and want to meet each other at $600+. Every day they don't announce and put up pre-orders makes me less and less interested in the consoles. If it comes down to it I will prioritize a new video card upgrade over the consoles as every dollar I put into my PC tends to pay off.

I've just been grinding away at Elite Dangerous after many years away... subsurface deposits (which were new to me) are crazy right now for low-temp diamonds, saved up a couple of billion to buy the new fleet carrier then did some rank grinding to finally pick up an Imperial Cutter (for even more SSD mining). ED has some similarities to Destiny, they both have really fun core gameplay that is completely sabotaged by the rest of the game design. And they both kind of require using websites to play in order to keep your sanity. Though unfortunately ED doesn't have an interactive API so you can't do things like managing your ships from a fast responsive website and instead have to suffer through the god awful UI which has amazingly only gotten ever so slightly better in like the last 4+ years since I seriously played.
Is Destiny going to get any of my grinding time back? That's a good question... so I guess a weekly reset is about to happen... so there is potential for a patch/hotfix to remedy the issue I'm having with not being able to continue with those Warmind exotics... And you know, that's the main reason I'm not playing D2 right now. It's such a momentum killer to start working on something and then the game just saying "nope". In Destiny's defense at least it doesn't have anything quite as boring as refreshing mission boards or grinding powerplay merits. But as boring as those things are... they at least work.
As for weapon sunsetting in D2, that's not a big deal for me at the moment, in fact anything that encourages me to toss old weapons is kind of welcome. Taken King made Y1 stuff obsolete if I recall, and that probably helped me get into Destiny a bit in the first place. In ED the engineering system changed, and all of my pretty good mods are kind of obsolete... set to level 4 instead of 5 and if I want to max them out I have a pretty big material grind ahead of me again which is kind of annoying. It's not too bad aside from engineering being one of the "not fun" parts of gameplay. But all of my work back then as far as unlocking engineers still counts, so that's nice.
Anyway, ball is in your court Bungie. Fix your game.

Pegasus Actual I thought that you still play on X1 sometime because I noticed that you were playing Warzone with Argyle a few weeks ago. Now I realize Warzone supports cross play. So you no longer play on XBox anymore? What is your plan when the next gen consoles come out? I don't think I've played anything on Xbox in about 3 months. I was doing some R6 Siege, then the new season started and we didn't hop on it right away and I just kind of fell off. And it's been a full season since then. A few days ago my PS4 Pro wasn't detected by my monitor so I stole the Xbox's HDMI cable to play Last of Us 2 (almost done). So now I'm *really* not playing Xbox. Warzone crossplay is great. argyle antiques actually purchased MW on Xbox, so if we want to do Gunfight or something he has to play there, but he's been playing Warzone on PC, with a controller. He would cite FOV slider and higher frame rates as the major reasons to play on PC. And yeah, I'm extra harsh on Destiny's lack of cross-play seeing as it's more LFG than matchmaking based, cross-play would have the biggest impact. And all these other companies are getting it done while Bungie falls farther and farther behind. Stadia probably had good load times by Destiny standards? And it's 60 FPS I believe. Did you find it to be a clearly better experience than base Xbox? Gamepass is good value if you're someone who wants to play lots of games. Also available on PC btw. I haven't gotten a ton out of it, but there was a deal to upgrade your Xbox Live Gold so I have it I think for another two years or something. So next gen consoles... I'm planning to get both of them. Not because I expect to play them a lot necessarily, but I just always get the new consoles. Going back to Sega Genesis I've gotten most major consoles during their release windows. Series X is in kind of a weird spot. Microsoft is putting all their stuff on PC (and XCloud). In previous generations there were always decent reasons for a PC guy to also have an Xbox. I'm not sure that's the case any longer. PS5 is a little more interesting. Sony has their big exclusives. They doubled down on SSD bandwidth. And their SSD might be the first true advantage consoles have had over PCs at launch in a very very long time. Xbox's SSD is really good too, but it doesn't seem like they put in as much engineering effort as Sony from the raw throughput they are quoting. Very interesting stuff. Xbox's solution is like 50x as good as current gen hard disks, which at first glance looks more than adequate. Sony is more like 100x current gen. Will devs really make use of the extra IO performance or was it overkill? From a pure resolution/frame rate standpoint Xbox is going to be a bit stronger. The CPUs in both machines are quite good by modern PC gaming standards. That wasn't the case when XB1/PS4 launched. They were both married to AMD and AMD was just that much behind. And like last gen, both boxes share way more similarities than they do differences. It looks like they're both going to support variable refresh up to like 120hz which is really cool. But meanwhile Bungie is saying 4k60hz which is absolutely the wrong target to aim for IMO. And you gotta wonder, is a FOV slider coming (Destiny console FOV is the worst)? Is a 120hz mode coming? Some companies do better than others with this stuff on consoles. And Bungie has not proven themselves in that regard. When Series X and PS5 launch, it looks like a really good time to be a console gamer to me. But I'll still be mainly PC.

I can help with the Whisper mission if you're still interested. Polaris Lance was the top tier gun for players without Whisper and pick them off from behind the 'pillar' just before you drop down into the boss arena. Which character did you try soloing it with? I did the Whisper missions on my Titan. Thanks for the offer... do you still play on Xbox? I'm on PC at this point. I probably won't play much Destiny in the next week or so (I might log in to finish a couple of weekly bounties that I have decent progress on) while I play through The Last of Us 2. I was doing the mission with a Titan. But with like blue armor / weapons for the most part. I like "challenging" content so I'm happy to lose a few times while doing it solo. I don't think it will be a huge deal once I put some effort into my build. I see Polaris Lance is in the Warmind stuff that I'm unable to proceed with thanks to Bungie QA... and ick, "16. Complete three Crucible matches". Yep, here's 15 PVE steps in this quest and whoops, now you have to go play PVP for some reason. I would love to give the guy who signed off on that type of quest design a swift kick to the nuts.

So Whisper mission, I can get to the combat section in 4-5 minutes. I got to the last room with like 7+ minutes left and did maybe 1/3 damage to the three bosses' health pool. I'll have to figure out a loadout... and I probably need to upgrade some of my armor. I have yet to engage with the Armor 2.0 system but it seems like you have to install mods to upgrade your stats... so all my armor is in... poor shape. First time I tried to do the platforming part my character literally wasn't fast enough to get through the section where the walls push you off the ledge (early section, right after the 90 degree around-the-corner blind jump), lol. I had to dig up a couple of armor pieces that had decent base mobility just to get through there.
So I went and tried to do some other stuff. I started doing the new season stuff and immediately hit a roadblock where I couldn't take the Engram from Drifter because I was full of the seasonal engrams from doing random old content. And I couldn't decode any of those Engrams because you need to take Drifty's gift engram first. Lol. Did look up the workaround of just doing it on another character as that unlocks the engram decryptor thing account-wide. What's also kind of funny is that they said it would be fixed in Monday's (Jun 15) patch and clearly it wasn't.
Then I started working on Warmind exotic quests and... the thing where you have to unlock 'nodes' or whatever is just completely broken. Looked it up and Bungie is 'investigating' but it seems like everyone who is trying to do that content has been stopped dead in their tracks. Some people wasted their time trying to do it on new characters and all kinds of nonsense but nothing works.
Bungie, I'm not impressed.

The supply copters in solo are annoying because no one shoots them down, and they just fly around endlessly. Yeah, I played one game with them... eventually towards the end the one by me had taken enough damage to go down... finally... but then it was completely impossible to loot it anyway. Other than that they are just loud and obnoxious. They gave solo mode zero attention, it could have been a lot better.

Good tips wittyscorpion. I will definitely give d2checklist a shot whenever I end up deciding to load up on Destiny. Peace of mind that I'm not melting down good rolls would clear my biggest barrier to trying the game again. Oh there was one more of my usual Destiny complaints that I forgot to mention. Quest steps that require Crucible. That's a big nope for me. I suffered through it some in the original... and maybe even a little on D2 Xbox, I can't recall. But in D2 I played 3 games during launch week on PC just to see if I would feel better about it, won all 3, and retired. Because nope. Crucible just isn't good. And it seems like they still have no interest in providing alternate quest steps for people who aren't interested in their PVP. Though granted COD Warzone suckered me into going into regular multiplayer to level up some weapons... so I'm not entirely immune to the concept. But I'm happy that at least with Destiny I didn't waste my time. And frankly, as campy and lame as base multi is in MW, it's still a ton better than Crucible. And MW's Gunfight is still awesome, but I've been playing that from the beginning, it's just useless for focus-leveling weapons as you don't get to choose your loadouts.

I watched the Bungie stream and their plans were less than exciting.
No real crossplay anytime soon. I thought a year after enabling cross-save wasn't an unreasonable expectation but here we are.
And they're just tossing vast swaths of content into the garbage... I mean vault. What even is their messaging here... "We're sorry about FOMO, we are going to stop doing that... but also we're just deleting entire planets and raids from the game"? I kind of get it, there's a lot of garbage in there that's not really worth playing, and anytime I try to log in my quests tab is a confusing mess. I don't even really know what a Raid Lair is, that's my level of Destiny engagement at this point. But I know they're going away. Does the loot from them matter? Did I see that the "Whisper of the Worm" was going away? I guess that's basically the Black Spindle from D1... the Black Spindle thing being one of the more fun things from that game. But with expansion power creep it's probably super easy to do at this point.
Playing on the new Xbox might be somewhat tolerable since they at least announced 60fps support. (though the new machine could easily handle a 90+hz VRR mode in like 1440p). I can't wait to see people on gen 8 hardware complaining about how unfair it is they're playing 30fps Crucible against 60 fps though.
I'm sure I've complained about it before, and I'll probably complain about it again... but the inventory in this game is so seriously tedious. Aside from the assualt on my senses that is the quests tab, there's also the alarm of logging and seeing that my vault is completely full of random shit where I don't know if any of it is good so I'm kind of scared to delete it. Another counter-intuitive thing they did a while back was add a way to buy back stuff you had melted down... great! But at the exact same time they added a random rolls system of stuff that weren't compatible with that new system. Why not just have it track all the rolls you've unlocked so you can buy anything back you need? Sometimes you might be deleting stuff that kind of sucks and then down the road balance changes could make suddenly viable.
Just looked at my Steam, last time I played it was in March... I remember logging in with the intention of finishing the campaign from the last expansion and for some really stupid reason that I can't quite recall I quit out without completing that goal. Like... the next step in the expansion was to get some kills with an LMG or something, and I didn't have any LMGs?
So yeah, I don't know. One of these days I'm going to log back in. I'm going to try to get the Whisper... and I'm going to finish the campaign from that expansion that I don't even remember the name of. But ya know. The one on the moon. Where the wizards come from. But if it's not fun then there's a good chance that will be my last login until at least the fall expansion.

OMG it's wittyscorpion !! I don't know so much about the state of D2 these days, I'm on the PC version and usually get bored a few hours into each expansion. That game really needs crossplay. I know that Dumien would happily run through D2 content with you though.

yeah that attachment is pretty cool. I feel like 60 rounds is enough though, considering the 100 round mags' downsides Give the M13 a try, it's a true laser, especially combined with akimbo snakeshots. I had a lot of fun with a Oden/FAL + MP5 class too, to go little bit off meta. AK with conversion, mono, Romanian, skeleton and grippled/tac laser is the best solo's AR imho. I think this is the best "tactical BR" I have ever played. And I sincerely love how they have limited the effect of RNG with the loadouts. However, this game is already starting to bother the heck out of me, tactical loitering and slow play is just far too much rewarded. Even when I try to slow play it, there is always another team that is playing it even slower... If you want the best chance to win the game, you don't engage anyone past the 3rd circle and only move when you have to as late as possible. I don't think that is great design, and partially the armor economy is the problem imho. Dead players should always drop one or a few plates at least to make up for this. I think Apex is still the better BR, but this is a welcome change for a while. I hope the loadout idea gets build on by other BR games. i've tried the m13 but i dont think it kills fast enough to warrant using. It's an A tier weapon though for sure. I hope Apex tries out a Gulag system and starting out the game with armor already. Apex's backpack system is very dumb too, everyone should have the max backpack by default. Apex backpack is indeed lame. M13 is great because of how effective it is out past 100 meters, at a little closer ranges you need to go for some headshots if you're trying to trade DPS with a stronger AR, but if you're not getting shot, it's so absurdly good at tracking runners at mid range. And paired with the snake shots is probably my most effective overall kit. FAL makes me sad. Best thing ever in Black Ops 2. Here it's kind of an awkward short to mid range spam gun. Still short a couple of unlocks but with the amount of recoil perks I have on it, it's still not really viable at range with a 3x. Gruen with skeleton stock is a solid weapon. What's everyone's go-to tier 3 perk? I keep switching between spotter & tracker Amped is pretty useful. EOD is more useful than spotter so I just use that. Tracker seems really good too but I need my fast weapon swaps. Im really liking the Grau as a tweener AR/SMG type paired with a sniper. I'm still leveling it so I haven't settled on a final build.

Hey Pegasus Actual. I saw Taco Bell is doing a console giveaway. Is this similar to your old scheme? If so, what was your key to success? It is indeed the usual. Key is enter at stupid hours when filthy casuals are not, also it probaby doesn't make sense to enter right after a 10 minute interval. So right at 3am for instance is bad, whereas 3:07am or something isn't a bad play. And to abuse the 5 entries per household, the web entry site makes you put in your address info first, the SMS version doesn't, so playing all your phones before using the website and your emails is the best way to go since it might skirt the way the rules are worded. Free code goes live like Nov 8 or something or you could actually eat taco bell but uhh, I dunno man... metal shavings and all... Either I got less lucky over time, or more people are on to the good odds as I haven't gotten any wins in the past couple of contests. But I would like to grab that updated Elite Controller moreso than the Xbox so I'll be in tryhard mode for this one.

I liked a lot of what they did with the game. I had the same experience as far as sweatiness of the lobbies, hell I played against shroud and dizzy in my first game of Ground War. Didn't get a chance to do Realism or Night Vision. Cross-play implementation is pretty good all things considered. Was really fun doing 2v2s with argyle antiques (mostly) representing (and carrying as) Xbox controller scrub race. We got a chance to test all sorts of combos. Gunfight was very strictly matched based on input. Whatever input combination we brought to Gunfight, we ALWAYS got a mirror match. X controllers and Y mouses, that's all that mattered. In other modes it was pretty random. The aforementioned Ground War round when I solo queued was all PC m+k. When queuing cross platform it was a mix. Sometimes skewing controller, sometimes m+k. Sometimes I'd be the only mouse user in the lobby. The game modes were a little meh. 2v2s were fun. Ground War was a shitshow. It is going to need a lot of work to really compete with Battlefield, though it was reasonably impressive on a technical level (though not on BF's level). It should bode well for the rumored BR mode... which probably is the only thing that will keep me playing long-term. I would have played more Blackout if they hadn't progressively made it worse and worse and killed it with the P2W boxes. Cyber is basically Search and Rescue, which wasn't a great mode either... this one could be improved if it had BR style revive mechanics, as in you could finish a downed opponent. Infinite revives of crosses that the opposing team doesn't even see? Bad design. TDM and Domination are pretty much just the usual. The game is on the campy side, but that problem is exacerbated by the relative complexity of the maps. My impression of the maps is that they're actually decently well designed but they take some learning. Sound wasn't good. Footsteps need to be a bit louder and positionally I was a bit confused. Part of that might have been playing stereo headphones on PC whereas most of my COD career has been with 5.1 -> surround processing -> headphones. It doesn't seem like there's any HRTF going down here. My brief sampling of the COD YouTube community during the beta has been... yikes. It must be hard to try to push a franchise forward when your customer base is that loaded with idiots. M4 seemed pretty OP in the AR category. MP5 and MP7 were both nice, Aug felt bad. The attachment system has potential, but it was kind of confusing as to what was still left to unlock. Like... sometimes stuff would show up as locked if you clicked grip... and then other times stuff wouldn't show there, but once it was unlocked it would be there. And every little thing pulling you out of editing your class is still just annoying as hell. I don't regret my PC pre-order, which was kind of optimistically placed just as a show of support for the cross-play initiative and returning to the modern setting (and I suppose enjoying the 2v2 alpha on PS4). I'll enjoy the single player I'm sure, and I'll get some mileage out of the Multi. Little chance I will play that long-term. And if they come out with a quality BR, it'll be an excellent package. Oh and who knows, maybe Spec Ops will be good. I enjoyed that in the original MW games. Though apparently the Spec Ops Survival mode is PS4 exclusive... Until October 2020. Foxtroting lol. Horde modes aren't really my thing though so not a huge deal. But. C'mon guys. Enough with that shit.

Logically you would think the 50ms firetime after shot 3 is just ignored It wouldn't be logical to ignore it. Otherwise a burst delay of 0 would allow you to fire faster than a fully automatic weapon with the same fire time. It comes down to how you're modeling it, and just from the variable names it's ambiguous. My initial interpretation of the term "burst delay" was time between the last bullet of a burst and the first bullet of the following burst. That's not at all unreasonable. It wouldn't make any sense to have a burst weapon with 0 burst delay in that model sure, but so what? Some values don't make sense in certain models. And if you were really worried about your edge case you could always just assert that burst delay is greater than or equal to firetime. The implementation doesn't really matter either way, you'd just use a 250ms or a 300ms burst delay to achieve the exact same thing. edit: And really the 0ms burst delay wouldn't even have the problem you pointed out from the model I was working from as the whole idea is they would execute in parallel so the firetime would still lock you out from shooting early. Which is also why I referred to a stacking firetime as 'extra'.

So, what did you guys think of the beta? Sadly with the SBMM and the likelihood that the game will die on PC in 3 months I don't think I'll be buying this game. But I'll play the beta again this weekend for sure. Someone forgot cross platform play is gonna be a thing so how does the pc scene die off in that scenario? I'm actually curious. It dies on PC if they ship the final console version with cross-play disabled by default, lol. Though you will probably be set regardless if you... play with a controller (*cough cough* XIM) on PC since that apparently puts you in a different cross-play queue.

I'm assuming they don't stack an extra firetime on top of the burst delay but that's not something I actually know Technically, there isn't an extra fire time. The burst delay doesn't replace the last fire time of a burst, it just... delays the next burst. I'm not exactly sure what you're saying, I understand the difference between burst delay and fire time. But it's a question of how it's implemented. Logically you would think the 50ms firetime after shot 3 is just ignored, but I could see it coded in a way where the burst delay of 250ms doesn't start until after that 50ms fire time is applied giving you an effective 300ms burst delay and would of course throw my numbers off, it was just a disclaimer.

Well, depends on what you mean by 'overall RPM'. You're being vague and lazy here by not defining it.
Shot 1, there's no real firetime as there's no gap between bullets as you are only shooting one shot. So that's a divide by zero kind of situation.
Shot 2, you need the firetime from your RPM.. so 60/1200 and you end up with a 0.05s gap between shots. One firetime, so you just convert back, 60 / 0.05 and you're back to 1200RPM.
Shot 3, you get two gaps of your 0.05s firetime, so 0.1s divided by 2, and then convert back and bam, back to 1200RPM obviously. It should be pretty obvious that 1200RPM is your best case scenario.
Shot 4, it starts getting a little more interesting. You have a third gap, this time it's the burst delay (I'm assuming they don't stack an extra firetime on top of the burst delay but that's not something I actually know). So you have the 0.1s from before, plus 0.25s from the burst delay, to fire the fourth shot, but that is three gaps you are measuring. So your average firetime is (0.1s + 0.25s) / 3, or 0.116666666667 (the six is repeating infinitely of course). So if you take that number and convert it back to RPM by dividing 60 by it you get 514.29-ish. It turns out this is your worst case scenario
Shot 5, you just add another .05s to the pile, and average over 4 gaps.. so (0.1s + 0.25s + 0.05s) / 4 which works out to a nice 0.1s average and converted back you've rebounded to 600RPM
If you automate this process quick and dirty in PHP you get something like:
<?php $burst_rpm = 1200; $burst_delay = 0.250;
$fire_time = 60/ $burst_rpm;
for ($x = 2; $x <= 1000; $x++) { $total_time_component = intdiv($x - 1, 3) * ($burst_delay + 2 * $fire_time) + max((($x - 1) % 3),0) * $fire_time; $effective_fire_time = $total_time_component / ($x - 1); echo "Shot $x = ", round(60 / $effective_fire_time, 2) , "RPM<br>"; }
?>
Which for say a 40 round mag would output:
Shot 2 = 1200RPM Shot 3 = 1200RPM Shot 4 = 514.29RPM Shot 5 = 600RPM Shot 6 = 666.67RPM Shot 7 = 514.29RPM Shot 8 = 560RPM Shot 9 = 600RPM Shot 10 = 514.29RPM Shot 11 = 545.45RPM Shot 12 = 573.91RPM Shot 13 = 514.29RPM Shot 14 = 537.93RPM Shot 15 = 560RPM Shot 16 = 514.29RPM Shot 17 = 533.33RPM Shot 18 = 551.35RPM Shot 19 = 514.29RPM Shot 20 = 530.23RPM Shot 21 = 545.45RPM Shot 22 = 514.29RPM Shot 23 = 528RPM Shot 24 = 541.18RPM Shot 25 = 514.29RPM Shot 26 = 526.32RPM Shot 27 = 537.93RPM Shot 28 = 514.29RPM Shot 29 = 525RPM Shot 30 = 535.38RPM Shot 31 = 514.29RPM Shot 32 = 523.94RPM Shot 33 = 533.33RPM Shot 34 = 514.29RPM Shot 35 = 523.08RPM Shot 36 = 531.65RPM Shot 37 = 514.29RPM Shot 38 = 522.35RPM Shot 39 = 530.23RPM Shot 40 = 514.29RPM
So every burst delay you add to the pile hurts your effective fire rate, but the effect is biggest in the first burst and sharply declines over the following bursts. If you look at shot 39 you're already at 530-ish RPM which isn't far off the start-of-burst worst case scenario. If you look at the output far beyond that point you would see that the end of burst shots are clearly approaching that worst case scenario though that's not super relevant as after shot 40 you're looking at a reload anyway so who cares?
Is your overall RPM the worst case scenario of 514.29RPM because that's what you're worried about? Is it 514.29RPM because that's the value when you actually finish an extended mag which happens to also be the a worst-case start-of-burst shot? Or is it 535.38RPM because that's where you'd empty a regular mag on shot 30? Or is it 1200RPM because you're the man and you one bursted that fool? Or is it 600RPM because god dammit you always fire three bursts just to make sure?
Or is it something else entirely because I fucked up my logic or math somewhere? I *think* those numbers are right. At least, if I plug in 0.05s as the burst delay (to simulate a constant 1200RPM weapon) I get the expected 1200RPM result at all shot values.

Damn discussion about the M-Dub full multiplayer reveal is absolutely poppin' 'round here.
Xclusive Ace's impressions seemed kind of wack. That dude really seems to just want the same old COD over and over again.
This almost feels like a reverse Battlefield, like it's almost more inspired by BF4 than the original M-Dub. BF always tries to make smaller player count modes that are going to compete with COD, and it never succeeds. Here we got 20v20s? Up to 100v100? Rumored 200 man Battle Royale?
The gunsmith stuff is very BF4 as far as allowing you to pile on whatever attachments you feel like, and they have pluses and minuses. Did I see they're going all in on projectile weapons rather than hitscan? Also very BF. The gun porno is on point.
I was already really excited about the crossplay implementation. All their ambitions as far as I'm concerned are in the right place.

Seems like it would be off of hitbox detection. I don't know much about Halo. It's going to have different aim mechanics, maybe that's part of the problem? I haven't played much BO4 multi, and haven't touched Blackout for a while either. I do know that in general on COD waggling the left stick really helps the aim assist lock on. And from using a XIM, when you introduce digital left/right strafes it makes it kind of tough to fight into the hitbox. They eventually added a setting where it simulates analog behavior as you change your strafe and that makes it feel a ton better. So the left stick is definitely a big part of the equation. In general I *think* the idea is that they add a component to your stick input towards the center of the hitbox. So as you try to leave the center of the hitbox there's a pull back to the center. And maybe if you enter the hitbox at less than max stick deflection it will accelerate you further into the hitbox. I'm too lazy to try to actually test it, but hey you haven't gotten any other replies so my half-assed speculation is what you get! And I know when you strafe without right stick input you get some pull from the hitbox as well.
As for multiple targets, I think it's just the high strength of COD AA that's the problem. Logically if there are two targets within aim assist range of your reticle, at best the system could give priority to one and not the other, but that's going to feel bad if that's not the target you were going for. Or the behavior could stack and the assist fights between two targets and that's always going to feel kind of bad. I don't really remember which case it is, but I do recall it being bad at handling multiple targets.
I think Apex has pretty similar AA mechanics to COD, along with a lot of controller options including aim assist strength. And I think the test range targets have aim assist on them. So if I really wanted to try to work out the mechanics I might start there.
But I don't. Aim assist sucks anyway, the most played FPS on Xbox (R6 Siege) just goes no aim assist and is better for it!
I know that to get on and stay on the hitbox waggling left stick input like a madman along with pulling down and waggling my mouse slightly left and right works stupidly well (much better than say... trying to fine tune my aim towards the target). But what are these youtuber techniques for causing aim assist to throw people *off* your hitbox?

"Serious match"... in COD pub lobbies? What exactly do I need to even "justify" about footsteps in a game where if you shoot your gun or if someone gets a UAV at a whopping 3 kills it pings your exact location to the entire enemy team? I never really felt like "man I can't move" because other players were going to hear my footsteps in COD. And I never found it that hard to 'solve' a guy who is tactical loitering/soundwhoring in the same 2-3 spots on a map. Footstep sounds in general prepare players for encounters rather than making it a visual stimulus reflex test, and gunfights play out more interestingly when both players are aware of their opponent before they have line of sight.
Trade-offs between your sound profile and your movement speed work great in other games and only add depth. Between the "I hear so good" and "I have ninja slippers" perks in the various COD games you tend to have a bad audio experience no matter what you do.

I think snipers are pretty much always viable in SND. Modern COD general respawn modes though... yeah pointless meme weapon for the most part. I haven't played much of regular multiplayer on PC but it seems like if you have the aim and reflexes to make a sniper work, you'd still be more effective with an AR. I don't know, I'd say I haven't really enjoyed snipers in multi since... MW3 or so? Even though I'm a filthy hardscoper I think the other main issue, aside from the Nuketownification of the map pool over the years is that ADS times went up. Or that could just be a tale from my ass as I don't have the numbers. But it seemed like in older games your fast ADS perks would work on snipers and at some point that went away. Or maybe old age reflexes are the culprit. Either way ADS, re-acquire target and flick plus shoot just didn't work.
I just don't see the point. You can go into Blackout and get a pretty fun sniping experience. Or play PUBG and it's even better. Or any Battlefield game if you want to snipe in a regular multiplayer mode. Quickscoping has always been stupid shit.
I'd say current COD would be better without snipers entirely, sure, but there are a million other ways COD could be better at this point. But maybe MW Reboot sniping will be good. What with the supposedly more tactical gameplay and all. Are they actually doing something different? And wtf is BOIIIII 2-year cycle cross-gen panic development going to put out? Seems like if MW is actually different, and a big hit, BO5 might feel like a huge step backward.

I don't buy the 'realism' angle at all. Movement speed compared to a real life encumbered soldier is completely off, so why wouldn't you scale footstep distance along with it? And let's not act like tactical loitering isn't viable in lower sound COD games. If there's slight footstep sound, tactical loitering ends up being the only way to hear it. And having your back against a wall staring at a doorway is always a great way to not get run up from behind in a low sound game. The sound perks that fuck up balance don't help any. It's funny you should mention spawns, COD spawn manipulation is the lowest form of gameplay IMO. If anything loud footsteps are useful for not getting instantly flanked in a completely unearned manner by random ass spawns of some guys you just killed.

An official source from IW confirmed a Forbes article about it saying it works like Fortnite. I'd like to finally get to play with people from the forums after a decade if any of you are willing to brave the PC players. Really no reason why they shouldn't. There are so many complete potatoes on PC. At least when you're a console potato if you happen to get a shot on target the aim assist will often track long enough for you to get a kill. The real question is if my Xbox COD friends will be so dismayed by my PC k/d vs my XIM k/d that they demand I get the Xbox version.

Did Driftor seriously fake his dog being stolen? I heard 8thoughts joke about it, but I just assumed it was, you know, a joke. I mean, I'm joking too, I don't know one way or the other. The videos are seriously stupid though. His dog goes missing and his instinct is to go 'radio silence' and assume it was a dognapping. Huh? Put up some lost dog posters like a Foxtroting normal person. Or you know, put a collar with a tag with your contact information if you're letting your dog outside unsupervised. I hate irresponsible dog owners. The other day this little Foxtroting thing was running around the street, I nabbed him, found the phone number on the collar... called the guy and he was like "He got out AGAIN??! That collar is the only thing that keeps him alive." Yeah, just barely you useless bitch.

The story trailer looks good, and I do like the modern warfare 'realistic' tone. But rebooting like this is still kind of goofy.
I wonder what the PC/console cross-play is... if it's just co-op then it's barely a selling point. If it's 'for real' crossplay it's going to be a fucking mess, with PC players complaining about console players having aim assist and console players complaining about m+k. If it's the PC player drags console party members into PC lobbies like Fortnite... I don't think there's enough of a PC player base for it to accomplish anything.
