DICE said that they boosted the damage of non sniper rifles by 25% but was this change made to PC too?

It does not appear to be so.
Yet.

Really? It definitely feels like I'm killing people a little faster using the same guns and specs than from a few days ago.
They wouldn't tell us if they released it anyway.

So are those damage charts for PC or consoles? I kind of want the 25% damage boost, not necessarily cause I can't aim or want this to be like MW2.

Don't know about the PC, but I can confirm the 360 had the 25% damage increase - my M1911 is to hit killing peeps all over the place with magnum equipped.
I'd assume the PC has the update, though.
Maybe someone could Twitter Demize?

Have you guys seen this? It seems it is supposed to be on PC too?
So that would mean:
Head = 2.0x Chest = 1.25x

|
|
Post by SheWolf on Mar 12, 2010 12:41:06 GMT -5
i would think that not head 2.0x, rest of body 1,25x, but rather that all weapons would recieve a highened damage by 1,25x...that's at least how i understood it, but that's just my oppinion and might very well be wrong.
i do not own a console, so someone with a xbox could confirm either theory by some testing perhaps..

None of the files or archives have changed since I downloaded them from Steam on the 2nd. The damage modifier for Bullet to SoldierBody in Materials_win32.dbx is still 1.0. With the exception of a few number changes from the Beta version I made on March 9, nothing is different.
Unless there's some other hidden variable somewhere, the chart reads exactly what the actual damage is. At least for PC.
With a lack of irrefutable proof either way, we need in-game testing. Console guys, would you kindly test the shots to kill to the body at point blank range for... The M9, MP443 and 1911 pistols. The 9A91, SCAR-L and XM8c SMGs. The AEK971, XM8 and F2000. Just for starters.
If the shots to kill are fewer than what the chart's numbers would add up to, then that's evidence something has changed.
I hope I can get some of the guys I play with to help test on PC tonight.
--- Oh yeah, and typing of Materials_win32, I was able to figure out a bit of the stuff that wasn't decoded - different bullet projectiles have different multipliers to SoldierHead. 2.1x Bullet Headshot multiplier 3.25x Sniper_Bullet Headshot multiplier 2.5x Buckshot_pellet Headshot multiplier 2.0x HMG_Bullet Headshot multiplier

DICE said that the 25% damage boost would be server side, so no files would be modified client side.

where did they say that?
if that is so, why do the files with the weapon stats even exist clientside?

I went through all of the assault rifles, a couple SMGs and the pistols. On two different servers. No change in damage. For PC, "25%" is 0%.
How about you console guys, any test results?

Den, so you are saying from your testing on PC the damage numbers you are getting from the game files (and posting in your charts) are accurate?
And as such it doesn't appear that PC got the 25% damage increase.
Then again it looks like there is no confirmation from console people that they have 25% more damage than your numbers for PC.
That all correct? I'd love to know for sure whether or not consoles have 25% more damage than PC.

According to your chart, my M1911 with Magnum should not 2HK, unless with a headshot. (42.something damage with Magnum) I've been two hit killing peeps without headshots with my M1911 (with magnum) since I've been level 15... In other words I can confirm the 360 has the 25% damage boost. I could try testing some other guns on immobile snipers, though.

best test with some friends, otherwise you could run into guys who are not at full health or wear armor..

Is it confirmed that this 25% damage boost does NOT apply to the semiautomatic snipers? I really have no way to test this out.
On a somewhat unrelated note, Den, would you mind making a second chart for the consoles where you just tag the 25% on the guns that get it? It's quite a pain trying to figure out which guns actually need Magnum with all these modifiers.

The lack of a damage increase on PC contradicts statements that damage was changed.
A change as plain as putting 1.25 on the material multiplier is questionable. That would affect everything from pistols to semi-snipers (most notably, a Magnum headshot from one of them would be a one shot kill).
There must be more to it. Each weapon has to be inspected in controlled tests. I don't have it for a console, so I can't test it.
For the heck of it, what the numbers would be if Bullet - SoldierBody 1.25 modifier is the actual change.
-BASE > UPGRD > MAGNM 01.00 > 1.25x > 1.25x --------------------- 39.00 > 48.75 > 60.90 31.00 > 38.75 > 48.44 25.00 > 31.25 > 39.06 20.00 > 25.00 > 31.25 16.70 > 20.00 > 25.00 14.30 > 17.87 > 22.34 12.50 > 15.62 > 19.53 11.20 > 14.00 > 17.50 10.00 > 12.50 > 15.62 09.10 > 11.38 > 14.22 08.40 > 10.50 > 13.12 06.70 > 08.40 > 10.50

Well then why did Demize say PC got the 25% damage boost and why would they give it to consoles not PC? Yeah and I've tested all the pistols and a lot of the guns for all classes and it takes the exact number of bullets your current PC chart says it should.

Thanks Den. Even if it isn't accurate it helps a lot to see which guns I should think about putting Magnum on.

I think the console gets the damage boost due the in inate inaccuracy of a console controller versus a mouse. It makes sense to have more 1/2HK weapons on a console when the chances of actually being able to get 2/3 hits is less.

though i would like to see it for pc too, would make for more realistic and tactical playing in my oppinion..
on the other hand, it could lead to more people tactical loitering with their sniper rifles on the edge of the map -.-

They didnt increase snipers damage on consoles, right?

I know console has the boost. M1911 gets 2 shot kills with Magnum, REX is 2 shots without.
Not sure about semi/fully-auto snipers if they got increased or not, but I never seem to get better than 2/3 shots to kill with them.

I'm on PC and I've done some pistol only lately and my M1911 with magnum kills with 2 hits at close and 3 at long range, like the 25% upgraded chart says.
I'm kinda lost I don't know what damage model it is anymore

Dice said it was done on PC, server side, I think by R7 server version, we are R8 now, R9 soon, so it should be good.
