veteran.battlefield.com/Log in with an EA account (the same account you would connect to Bad Company 2 multiplayer or previous Battlefield games with). Select the game(s) you own. It explains itself after that. Though, 1943 and BC2 are currently unable to be added to Veterancy... since they are recent and all. The 1911 can be unlocked regularly. While you may not be able to get the Garand without at least a Veterancy of 1, the M14 is near-identical to it.

If you need games (cd keys can have problems); Sign up on Battlefield Heroes (a free game) with the same email account you use as your Bad Company 2 profile. Veteran should recognize BFH automatically.

Even being registered as a veteran (got the F2000 in BC1), BC2 fails to recognize me as a veteran.
The solution in the BC2 blog is to log into the BC2 website, but logging into that site is currently disabled...
If you want your M1 Garand, the easiest way is to call EA directly by phone

How long does it take to unlock the M14 and how do you do it?

How long does it take to unlock the M14 and how do you do it? Level 20, All Kit unlock. I cannot wait for this gun myself, considering the medic needs a medium-long range weapon to perform optimally at their role, and for some reason they were handed all short-medium range guns.

Then you aren't using the LMG correctly, LOL. It's hip fire is horrible, making short range combat poor. The ability to put rounds down range without reloading make it decent a medium to long range. Sit back, crouch, and fire in bursts. Most LMGs are fairly good at medium-long range if used correctly. That's just my take on it. Your play style might be different, hence the different results. Sorry for the thread-jack.

Sorry for the thread-jack. I can't but disagree sir. The only guns in this game worth hip firing even at knife range are the pistols, shotguns, and very very rarely the M1A1 in miniscule bursts. I'm trying to use the LMG's crouched, from cover, ADS. It fails horribly in bursts as you can't do enough damage in one before the recoil pulls it away at anything resembling medium range, and holding down the hammer under the same conditions won't start paying off for a full three seconds when the sights steady down again. I'm maintaining a positive KDR with the medic build while primarily doing nurse things, but really think the class will only excel in combat with the LMG specialization talents (Which I don't want to use, +Heal/+HealR) or with a carbine. If you're willing to drop all the healing talents, the LMG's suddenly become just fine, but you're barely a medic at that point.

I've found the +Heal and +Range to be largely useless because randoms don't sit in one spot long enough to heal, and my friends move close enough to the med pack that range is useless and a couple seconds saved by the +Heal isn't usually worth it (though I can see where it could be). With either Magnum Ammo or LMG Training, the LMGs seem fine to me. Just weighing benefits, to me the medic specializations don't bring as much to the table as other specializations. But like I said, different play styles, can't fault you for that. You definitely opened my eyes to your style a little more. I'm a level or two away from the M14, and I think I'm going to try your tactics when I do get it.

In the right situation you can really rack up up points as a medic using the +heal and +range combo.
Also, i am pretty sure that i somehow earned the M1A1. The gun popped up and it said i had unlocked it (even though i already had it from VIP). I probably got it through some achievement.

Just to derail this even more, I tried Jackson's style last night with mixed success. Using the M60 and M36 with LMG Specialization, I actually found it fairly easy to hit people at medium-long range, and even kill people who didn't move when the first round hit them. The loss of HealR+ wasn't as noticeable as I expected, though there were times I could definitely feel it was missing. Overall it resulted in a slightly lower XP per game, but a higher KDR and survival rate, and I did more rezzing than healing compared to my usual build.
At the end of the day, I'd say I enjoyed it more than my standard Nurse build, and am glad I tried it. I'll employ that strategy until level 20, then hopefully go back to the dual Heal+ spec with a carbine.
Thanks Jackson, glad you brought it up.

I haven't done this myself, but intend to tonight, so I'll report back here if I get my rifle.

You know what's funny, I tried your style last night and loved it. The range and healing boosts were a lot better than I remembered. I was consistently top player in points. The M14 was a pretty good weapon for the role. Good accuracy and power for medium-long range combat. I'm glad you brought that up. That's now two great ways to play medic: Sitting back with the healing/range upgrades and nursing, or playing closer and doing more reviving, less healing.

Is anyone else having trouble?
