Why, on BC2, do I so often kill the guy that killed me, at the exact same time?
More so than COD?
It's like the beatdowns from Halo.
Is it lag? It feels like a lack of sync between the two players involved.

I think it is because bullets are travelling projectiles in this game, and maybe this is compounded by lag. It happens to me all the time, too.

On a related note, it seems like burst fire weapons finish their burst even if the player is killed mid burst. It seems like I'm "mutual" killed by the M16 all the time.

There are traveling projectiles in this game, if you shoot off enough before you die, they don't disappear, and will continue on to your target. CoD didn't actually have projectiles, meaning when you die, whatever you shot vanishes in midair.

happens when sniping long distances too, you shoot him and then watch his bullet come hit you in the face.

I love it when that happens. If in mw2, I would have probably been the dead one; Hah

i actually quite hate this about bfbc2. i understand why it happens, that the bullets are still traveling - however, when the guy is 5 feet in front of you, it just does not feel realistic or right at all. i think it has to do also with server lag.
there are all kinds of time-based glitches here and there, sometimes in the opposite way. just today, i fired an AT rocket at some guy in a village house while he was shooting at me - i clearly heard the AT launch sound and even saw the very beginning of the smoke trail. however, when i was made to be dead by his bullets, the rocket vanished. also, no damage done to the window frame framing his head making his face a wonderful target bullseye (also, do expose him and his mates to my team, and thus they remained hidden). so, i was hoping for an explosive life cancellation (plus, being a defender, no tickets lost for my team, but yes for his). but, no...
all in all, i think the network engine driving battlefield is a bit slow. but, still love the game, though.

well, if you wan't it realistic, think about it this way: when shot your body does not stop working right away in most cases, there is quite a while before the organism collapses when the body is still partially operational..long enough to still keep the trigger down a little ^^

Well I definitely agree that it is more realistic.
Plus it has an added advantage of leveling the playing field against those who camp... If you know where they are before you approach them, that extra lethality of traveling bullets might be enough to take him with you where in call of duty he may only be damaged to 10% health.

i don´t believe it´s from the bullet travel. in CoD 3 it was too, that both player can die at the same time. perhaps it´s because of the dedicated server. u kill him, but the enemy don´t get the data and kill u on his screen. then the server get both information send it and both players die

I dont understand how the person who killed me runs away with 0% health left ?? To venture a guess, it probably has to do with the decimal places in weapon damage.

No, it is not bullet speed.
At close range basically there is really no travel time. The server codes are just downright terrible that also causes hit-reg issues.
For example, an enemy player and I killed each other at same time, BOTH using knife.
How this can be possible without such terrible netcode on this game?

Aside from hit-scans, I've heard it might be because BC2's hit detection is server-side, while COD's hit detection is client side?

Don't listen to these guys. Read Den's info about recoil. It's different then in CoD. Here, a cone of inaccuracy is added and increased with every shot. The iron sights don't show the truth.
Always burst-fire if you're not in point blank. Also, try taking as much chances to hip-fire as you can, because then you can actually SEE your cone of inaccuracy.

Why i think this happens a lot more than CoD is that in CoD, at the moment you die, everything you have shot will disappear. You can notice it more when you use last stand and still get kills from your primary when you go down.
