I partially disagree Den,
In non-HC, the Barrett did have a very nice niche to it. It had slow scope-in and re-chamber speeds in exchange for a much further OSK to the body. Now it's useless.

More or less this. The slow speeds made the m95 not that great anyways in large games, but the m95 did shine as a very competitive sniper rifle for Squad Rush, as you could use it in medium-long ranges, and have a nice deadzone to protect yourself with OSKs using it with an ACOG. Considering how many soft nerfs there are in-game right now to the ability to snap off midrange headshots with bolt action rifles, this is a pretty big blow to their viability in small team games. Even apart from the OSK thing, the difference between dealing 75 dmg at max range and dealing 50 dmg at max range is significant when playing competitively. m95 or m24 Mag ammo was still useful in squad rush because dealing 98 damage to 3 guys very quickly sets them up for being mauled by your teammates.

Thanks again for your time Den, much appreciated.
Do these changes effect the consoles and PC?

dragoneye,
Agreed man. Regardless of how you play ( competitive, pub, etc. ) or what game mode, it's a big smack in the face to all the Snipers when you have to shoot a guy in the chest with a Barrett ( or M24/GOL ) from 35m away with Magnum Ammo and then still tag him with ( not 1, but ) 2 shots with your M1911.

@den
thanks for the great update,
few questions though:
what was the AA damage before and after values?
what was the chopper gunner cannon damage before and after values?
Was the mortar strike reload time changed to 45 seconds? i thought it was that before.
Are all vehicle specializations shared for all players in a vehicle from all seats?

I forgot to upload the updated vehicle thing. It's on there now.
AA has been increased to 25 damage. The gunner has been decreased quite a bit. Mortar Strike is now a sixty second reload. No.

Check the PP-2000's numbers again, den.
Someone told me it got a damage drop slightly.

Check the PP-2000's numbers again, den. Someone told me it got a damage drop slightly. I was about to post about the same thing. The BF Blog says the PP-2000 got a damage nerf but your chart numbers haven't changed.

Its damage hasn't been nerfed. Den's chart is still right. I don't know if nerfing its damage was on their to-do list (the same list they referenced for making the changelog in their blog) and they simply forgot to get around to that one, or what, but the PP2000's damage numbers have not been altered according to the files.

Im pretty surprised they nerfed the pkm at long range... it was the only reason to use that gun and would say it was far from cheap

Are you sure that the new sniper damages aren't only for Hardcore mode? It just doesn't make sense to me why they'd nerf them so bad in normal where they were pretty well balanced.
I can only guess that they meant to have two different damage models and messed it up or something.

Why is the PP2000 so good? Its damage is lower than some of the other SMGs, so is it because of the STK/TTK?

I'm with Mossy on the PP2000 thing. Granted, I only have a little bit of experience with it, but I've found the Uzi(with ACOG) to be far more effective than the PP2000 so far.

Its damage is lower than some of the other SMGs, so is it because of the STK/TTK? it is mostly because of the lower spread value compared to the AK74 while retaining a good TTK (thanks to the high ROF) and to round things of it has a big clip the arrows indicating the patch changes on the stat paqge are very nice, thanks den

well, i didn't have time to play with the new patch yet, but i SO hope (i play HC only) that this thinned out the sniper plague there a little bit.
but i would kill to know what the actual health in hc now is, to know weather or not one can bypass that with magnum (and that again can get canceled out by body amor and so on^^)

Short of simply testing it, it might be some time before we know definitely). So far, I've found that the rifles are still generally OSKs, but at the distances I'm comfortable fighting, I'm likely not hitting for the lowest possible damage. The only time I haven't gotten a OSK is when the target is a medic and clearly is using body armor.

sooooo is there any word on the exact ammount of health in hard core? how come we don't exaclty know anyway? I'm now 100% certain that Player health is still 50. "We didn't exactly know anyway" because the file that had the variable that I figured was the Hardcore health setting did not exist in the patch. Believing I may have been wrong and the 50 health setting that we found to be true through testing was just a coincidence, I tried looking in vain for another variable. But no, the class type "MinHealth" was not changed, the actual health was not changed. I finally tested it with a bunch of poor saps in a packed HC server and after a huge kill streak, I discovered no difference. Hardcore health was 50. Hardcore health is 50. A bolt action rifle without Magnum can kill a guy without Armor to the body at any distance.

ok, that opens up for another question:
just an hour ago or so i tested around a little with a friend of mine on an empty hc server, and alas, we both were able to survive hits from each other with bolt action sniper rifles (without magnum) when not wearing body armor and reaaaally far away from each other. so either one of this:
- bolt action sniper rifles deal 49,99something damage. unlikely since den has checked the files. - health is 50.1 or something^^ - health is still 50, minimal damage for sniper rifles is 50, but it's forced in the game via some other mechanism, maybe the "material" of the soldiers body reacts different or something like that
i will do some tests with the PKM...if someone can survive 4 body hits with it, i would favor the 50.1 HP theory..if not, then they solved it by some other means..
edit; ok, we must have messed up or something when testing the other day, and a fourth option appeared:
- dice lied in the changelog
as den said, sniper rifles without magnum still one-hit-kill a guy without body armor, i withdraw all charges..

It usually takes a week or so for the consoles' QA to let a patch pass.
Could be any time. Like next week. Or 2012.
