The whole spotting system makes cover feel useless.. They should make it like BF1942 and have the player who spots the enemy flash yellow on the mini map instead of the obnoxious red triangles. Spamming select during gunfights on consoles isnt really that fun.

It's fun for me. I spot probably 90% of the enemies that I shoot. It helps me aim at long distance. The only time that I don't spot someone is if they are 3 feet away from me.

I use spotting every chance I get. I think the way they did it in BC2 is way better then BC1 or 1943.

I like it more this way too. Normally it bothers me in games when I can't judge what the enemy knows (there's no indicator to say you've been spotted) but it doesn't bother me at all here.
Also it's pretty easy to strafe right and spot at the same time on 360, so you'll find most of my gun fights end up with me doing that.

The spotting system is great as-is. Helpful to teammates (who aren't dumber than the average CoD player) allowing them to take out a marked target, helpful to you as even if you lose the fight you'll get support points, and it works well as an "anti tactical loitering" measure, which I'd hope would make people happy considering how often people complain about "tactical loitering".
Plus, it doesn't make bullets pass through cover any more easily, so I wouldn't say it makes cover useless.

I do wish you know when your spotted and when your unspotted. That would be nifty.

I do wish you know when your spotted and when your unspotted. That would be nifty. Yeah, add in some more vocalization. "Aw shit, I think they fucking saw me!" "Fuck, fuck! They got my ass marked!" I wonder how they could add a subtle enough indicator that average players can still pick up on. Maybe a simple "You've been spotted!" just above the obituary at the bottom of the screen. However, that kind of indication would then make it obvious that someone saw you and you'd go scrambling for cover or jumping around like a maniac so the Scout who just put you in his sights has no chance at making a stealthy kill. ...A "you're spotted" indicator probably wouldn't work as it would be counter-productive to spotting (which is already rare enough).

Voice Commands seems the way to go. I still wish for a more obvious "Stay fucking still noob, I'm healing you tank, charging the enemy tank at 1/3 hp is suicide dumb shit" indicator when your tank is being healed. Especially if its my tank, and you just hopped in...
Anyways. Smart players are keen to pick up on the ingame voices (I frequently listen for "Oh shit I'm out of ammo, Damn I'm out, Fuck last mag" when playing assault) but the stupider, or newer players, will just pass it off as idle background noise and then die in some stupid way...

All in the name of "playing for fun", too.

Seems kind of unnecessary to listen for players out of ammo when they show up on the map and HUD. Also, if you hit the socialize button while pointed at an occupied damaged vehicle, you shout to the driver to let you repair it.

That's assuming the general player is capable of paying attention to those signs.

That's assuming the general player is capable of paying attention to those signs. If they don't hear the whir of the repair tool and see their health increasing, I don't think even a flashing indicator in the middle of their screen would stop them from driving off to their own death.

It might get spammed a little but i feel it is better than constantly saying to your entire team "hey theres an enemy by that tree"
Not only does your team not know where you are, its just plain difficult to communicate such information where you could just point in real life.
Maybe a good improvement would be if they simply left a silhouette and marker where the enemy was last seen as opposed to tracking the target with a triangle.

I agree with w4gasm. That is a good idea. To add on to that, perhaps the enemy could be highlighted with the triangle only if they are in full view.

I wish I could spot an enemy with a button other than select, on PS3... stinkin' hard to fight and spot at the same time.

It is kind hard at tiimes, but anyway, there isn't a way to find out you've been spotted? I kept hearing this triple beep and i thought that was it. (no there were no motion sensors around either)
