Someone's trying to convince me it does. I told him V SMOKE and smoke grenades remove tracer darts, but the repair tool doesn't. I'm 99.9% sure I'm right. He may only be talking about helicopters, but I don't think there's a special case for that.

How convincing was he?
Did he show you by sticking a dart on a tank and then using the drill it to remove it?
If not, then that doesn't sound very convincing.

Well I'll take that as a no.
(BTW, it's a lot harder to test these things on console, which I believe is where he plays.)

It most certainly does not remove tracer darts. You are 100% correct, smoke does remove darts.
There is another way to have a dart be "removed", but it's pretty rare and is generally not something you would want to have happen to your vehicle anyways: If the tracer is stuck on a part of the vehicle that falls off with damage, then the dart will fall off as the part falls off. For example, the armor skirts covering the tracks on the Abrams.

Yes, smoke of any kind. Forty mike-mike and vehicle smoke.

Assault with a Tracer Dart and 40mm Smoke = GOOD fun and the best escort buddy for an allied tank, second to an Engineer.

Personally, when playing with a friend, I like to have one of us roll as an engie and one roll with Den's kit described above. Preferably the driver, because when I get darted I can pop out, smoke, and pop back in in about two seconds max, while the passenger keeps infantry suppressed.
If you go the other way then when the second guy jumps out you've got nothing to keep that infantry from poking his head out again and darting you. Just my opinion.
