I remember hearing that it depends on what gun you get hit by and I really would love to know how much each gun does in terms of this stat. I just remember someone saying that the SCAR-H in MW2 did more than any other and I really hope someone can dig up that info for Black Ops or MW2.

I think its simply broken up by weapon category, not by individual weapons, although I could be wrong.
Guess Not.

35 viewkick in a direction relative to the direction you were hit from.
Amount of damage and weapon type doesn't appear to matter.

I think that variable damage view kick was suggested by the community, but apparently it wasn't implemented.

I think that variable damage view kick was suggested by the community, but apparently it wasn't implemented. A: A good portion of the community is/are idiots, morons, children, and super swell and/or otherwise great. B: Since when has anything the community wanted been implemented.... Scratch that, I feel like with both MW2 and BO they developers sat down with 10 year olds and asked for suggestions. Dev Team: "So what do you guys think would be cool in the next Call of Duty?" Naive Children: "Ah it'd be sweet to get nukes, and there needs to be remote controlled cars with C4 strapped to them, and thermal scopes, and guns have too much recoil, make it easy to appeal to the lowest common denominator all players!!!1one" Dev Team: "Really? We were contemplating finally nailing down weapon balance and getting to work on dedicated servers, but if thats really what you guys want..."

Honestly, a ton of the features in MW2 and BO are things I, at one point or another, thought "That'd be cool" or "I wish you could"
I wish you could change classes whenever (OMA) An automatic shotgun would be cool (AA-12) Shotguns need to be stronger (MW2 shotguns) Shotguns need to be weaker (BO shotguns) It's be cool to dual wield like in Halo (Akimbo, whatever BO calls Akimbo)
And other stuff too, but that's all I can think of now.

With MW2 I felt like IW watched an episode of Future Weapon and decided to add random weapon prototypes to their game. I'm amazed the XM8 wasn't an AR.

So the L96 would be ridiculously bad when being shot at compared to, for example, the PSG1? [L96 centerspeed is 500, PSG1 is 1000] Well theres a fix to the DVK issue.. add weapon specific DVK recovery.

Yah but DICE has loved the XM8 and its SMG/LMG variants since BC1. It's kinda a trademark weapon, at least given how its B Companies signature weapons in campaign. MW2 had the Intervention, Javelin, Vector, F2000, and AA12 so...

XM8 was never on Future Weapons, but Tavor Assault Rifle (TAR-21) was. While CoD4 had a quite realistic weapon selection (most unrealistic probably Deagle and maybe Colt 1911), MW2 drew its weapon selection from popular culture sources. Future Weapons, Terminator (1887s), Shooter (Intervention), etc. As a result, you get a completely obsolete gun made in 1887 in a game called MODERN Warfare 2. I'm still not sure where they came up with the WA2000 though...

^Because of the sheer novelty of its production? Treyarch seems to have added it only because it was in MW2.

niteshade, none of those guns were prototypes. The F2000 is actually relatively old.
The WA2000 came from James Bond, most likely.

There's one (big) thing I've overlooked.
The view kick is only a small part of the "Shock" from being hit.
"Shock" is the accurate term and the effect that is also used by Stun and Flash grenades.
On top of the ViewKick (which is actually a very small camera shake), the Shock causes the weapon itself (rather than the camera) to jump relative to the direction you took damage.
It's like GunKick... except not. Shock is particular in that it is an over-time effect, meaning a weapon's recovery is irrelevant, the effect itself determines how long it will take to recover.
This Shock appears to last 0.4 seconds. That is to say it takes 0.4 seconds for the gun (and where the bullet will go) to return to the center of the screen.
Hardened shortens the Shock length to 0.08 seconds. At least, I think so. Testing such a thing is difficult when PC doesn't have splitscreen. Bots and online players are incapable of the precision timing.

If not, I can imagine the Bros would be more than willing.

Online. No splitscreen. Meaning latency.
It is virtually impossible to synchronize some guy shooting me and me activating a half (or one tenth of a) second delay macro in the very same instant when there's some fluctuating period of time between him shooting and me getting hit.

Bah, Dedicated servers nothing. I'm lucky to get less than 100ms ping. I had equally fast connections from peer hosts in MW2.
And pretty much everyone I play with live in Texas. Or Canada. Or Britain. Or [location hundreds of miles away]. So nobody's gonna stop on by with their PC just to do one little thing.

In West Philadelphia, born and raised, on the TV is where I spent most of my days... Den, time and time again I'm amazed by how laid back you are. Look how off topic this thread is. It went from flinch stats to future weapons, to LAN parties and now Bro locations. I know back on Gamefaqs, the mods would have shut down a thread like this faster than you can "Cool Story Bro."
