hhnnnnnnnnnggggggggg
this gun is the worst gun of all time, ever.
Any tips on how to use it? Basically feels like if someone notices that I'm shooting at them before the second shot lands, either they get away or they kill me. It has, for me, the slowest killing time of any gun, by a huge margin.
Shooting fast = overly-zoomed in scope careens literally thousands of miles off target. Shooting slow = never kill anything
So far the vast bulk of my kills have been point blank hipfire-spaffs and shooting someone who fortuitously was only on 1/3rd health already.

It's an M1 with a scope, of course it's crap.

Hehe, funny story about this gun... My very first Squad Deathmatch game in 'Nam was about a week ago. I had died and was trying to respawn as rapidly as possible in order to help a teammate that was cornered and about to get dead. I clicked on "Respawn" or whatever with maybe 3 seconds left, and then thought Recon would be a good kit to use, as it was Hill 137 and sniping is pretty effective on that map, plus I totally thought I was picking my "Recon SA" class, which is a VSS mid-range beast. It suffices to say that I most certainly did NOT spawn with my VSS, and in fact spawned with the SVD. Not only that, but I spawned without any Specializations whatsoever, having just come over from Vanilla.
The crazy part is that once coming in on my squadmate, I proceeded to go on a 11 kill streak, taking us from a distant second to winning the match on the 11th kill. I thought to myself "Wow, this gun is amazing, I was one shotting people at mid-range and didn't even have Magnum!!" Yes, even though I know better, I fell victim to Results-based analysis, completely ignoring the fact that I 100% knew that that gun was incapable of such wreckage over a large sample size...
And because of my momentary lapse into willful ignorance, I proceeded to play the entire next match with the SVD, with every death followed by a voice inside my head saying "That one was just luck, this next life I'll go on another streak"...
Needless to say that streak never happened. I went 2 and 22, with my only two kills coming after picking up a different kit when I ran out of ammo thanks to the SVD's "awesomeness" (Sarcasm, for those of you unable to detect).
Never going back, never lying to myself like that again.

Wow, an SVD WORSE than the one in Black Ops. Whoda thunk it.

Would have been cool if the SVD came with a 4x optical instead of the standard 6x. Would give them a better usable niche. Especially since there are no optics in Vietnam.
