anyone else ever just have these stupid annoying instances of complete garbage hitreg when playing on certain servers?
A while ago on Arica harbor rush im tapping away with the vss on this guy thats just sitting on a stationary AT and blood is just fountaining out of him and i keep seeing no hitmarker.
Just 2 minutes ago i was playing on this conquest server and i just had to quit using the assault rifles with the 40mm shotgun cause a couple of times i would just blllast someone who is practically right in my grill and i either got no hitmarker or i did 20% damage or some rubbish.
Then on another server at another time you will be instakilling people with it from 15-20m away getting wierd longshots with its randomness.
Im pretty much 100% positive that moving hitboxes are in a different place than the character model. Mainly looking at close range moving targets here, it seems you need to consistently aim a bit behind people to hit them.
Its irritating because bad people that are aiming bad will just get hits on accident...Or it teaches you to NOT aim at the thing you want to hit. The inconsistency takes away from bringing your game down to a nice practiced science.
I read about how the latency compensation got adjusted or 'fixed' in the last patch. Riiiight.
This stuff will happen occasionally but ive never gotten angry enough to want to say anything about it until now.
Srsly you would think that BF devs over the YEARS would read about all these people saying how crap thier game is with hitreg at times. I mean yea you could say its just the server or whatnot but other games dont have the same issues on such a constant basis. Im sure they are fully aware of everything.
Its going to be the same crap in BF3 im pretty sure.
Then theres this situation with Punkbuster lag spiking you for 5-10 minutes when you join a server. I really dont get why punkbuster is so angry and hungry like that. Its like a fat stupid bear that somebody poked with a stick really hard and its gobbling your internet.

yeah man, I've been preaching at aiming for the hitbox to everyone for the last two updates.
hitbox is behind the character model and the distance between them lengths when moving. (this is why DICE "fixed" the hitreg by making hitboxes wider when your a character is moving)
up close "in their grill" is even more noticeable because your weapon doesn't get a chance to spread enough to nick the box. when you shoot from afar, you won't notice it as much because you get a lot of help from luck when you lead targets and their hitbox moves into your weapon spread.
basically, against all logical thought and subconcious reflexes, you need to aim left or right of your target by a small amount when they are crossing your path, depending on which way they're moving (aim left of character model if they are crossing you by moving across your screen to the right, and vice verse for left)
don't deviate too much, but when you get a blood spray and no hit marker, you're seeing a very good example of the disembodied hitbox.
on stationary weapons, their hitbox is behind the character model, if you get blood spray only, aim just behind them for the hit
most people won't recognize this and just call it "bad hit reg" but honestly there's no such thing as "bad hit reg" it's either lag (their character is somewhere else than your client displays them at due to latency) or you are missing the hitbox entirely.
Some servers are worse than others at updating the character position+hitbox to your client

Yeah, I was playing llamarama desert yesterday trying to max out my marksmanship headshots so I can stop playing recon and noticed at times that hit registration can be ridiculously bad, most noticeable when you're making long shots with the VSS.
The worst part is that the game's literally retarded when it comes to hit detection - it will give you blood splatters from HITTING an enemy, but it won't give you hitmarkers unless damage is actually done. Which means you can make somebody explode into a blood fountain and yet they aren't taking damage.
Once I got knifed by some scrub after dropping so many rounds into him that his character model was completely obscured by the blood - to the point the number of particles slowed my machine down. The damage that should have been applied to him would of been enough to kill the whole enemy team thrice over.

just the other day i came upon a recon manning a UAV and **Tried** to knife him. my character did the actual "Kill" stab instead of the generic slash. i didnt even get the kill and/or hitmarker. so i sprayed 2 clips of my UMP into him and nothing. so i threw a grenade and destroyed the UAV station, booting him off, and he started trying to spray me down with his SVU, but i finally got him before he got me. I don't get it

Everytime I put C4 on a quad, I flank the tank like a boss, and as soon as I press the detonation button my character starts dropping infinite C4s. It's a glitch that happens far too often, and it's very annoying.

I don't get it I have tried and failed on multiple occasions to roadkill people at UAV stations. I blink and stare stupidly for a few seconds and then kill him with my mounted weapon.

Yeah, ok wait 2 seconds and then it will work. But what i dont get is why is the glitch there in the first place. Its just one infraction among many that keep me from truly loving this game.

Its just one infraction among many that keep me from truly loving this game. nothing in life is perfect. these days you're lucky if you're buying a finished video game for $60 when it hits the shelves for all its flaws, I love BC2 because it is the best (imo) of its genre. imagine playing a game you didn't even enjoy (people do it) that have bugs like BC2.
