Hey! I'm a new player to BC2, and I've got a few questions if you wouldn't mind helping out please I'm playing on the xbox BTW. 1) If you use the increased explosive damage perk, does it help much against enemy tanks when used with the recon's mortar strike? I haven't unlocked the perk yet, and find that the mortar strike isn't much use against enemy tanks unless they're already low on health. 2) If you hear an electronic ticking noise, (not the base capturing noise) does that mean you are in the vicinity of an enemy motion sensor? 3) When looking at people's scores, some of them have a number to the right of their rank. I've seen numbers 1 to 15. What do these represent? 4) What is skill level? Seems to go up to 200. Does it affect the games you join? 5) I've read on here, people mentioning about 'spotting' enemies. I can only seem to do this when using the Spotting perk which comes with the recon class. 6) Besides motion sensors and spotting, is there anything else which shows enemies on the mini-map? Firing with an un-silenced weapon doesn't I assume. 7) How do you open your parachute? I can't seem to figure out what button it is. 8) I've seen enemy UAVs using a machine gun, but I can only seem to fire a missile. I've tried all the buttons on the controller to no avail. 9) What's the best set up to get the longest range OHK with a shotgun? Excluding the underbarrel perk. That's about it I think!

1. Explosive Spec will improve the Mortar Strike's damage. 2. Yes, that's the Motion Sensor beep. 3. Veterancy, linking other Battlefield games/CD Keys to their EA account. 4. ELO Skill Rating, doesn't mean much. 5. Q key on PC. Back button on the 360. Select button on the PS3. Point at an enemy and he'll get a red triangle over his head for a few seconds. Point at a friendly and you'll ask him for ammo/repairs/healing depending on his class. 6. That's it. 7. Spam the heck out of the jump button while in the air. 8. ALT V vehicle Spec to give it a machinegun on secondary fire. 9. Slugs and aiming for the head.

den wins again, but i'm a little unclear on one thing, does shooting with a non-suppressed weapon make you show up on the minimap? Also, do non-suppressed weapons have any disadvantages (giveaways) vs suppressed weapons other than the audio que?

firing a non- suppressed weapon does NOT make you show up on the radar
also a question about the rating system, what is considered a good rating

something's wrong with the rating system, i don't know if they just didn't give it enough range or whatever. mine flicks between 197-200 and 0 basically constantly. i think everyone's ratings are so old/high/low or whatever that any change is completely extreme
i wouldn't sweat it too much, basically.
even the bigger rating on the stats site doesn't make much sense, mine tends to decrease when i'm doing well and increase when i'm playing worse

Silenced weapons don't have trails on their bullets, too, which is a huge advantage for the SVU, for example.

When a motion sensor is in your location, does anyone know what type of movements make you show up on the minimap? Does rotating / moving your crosshair count? What about reloading or swapping your weapon?
I've noticed the Rex has a decent range, probably around 10 metres before its max damage begins to drop. If you're using Mag Ammo, it's a great sidearm, as it's a pretty quick 2 shot kill.

It looks like Den's chart says 6 m, but the slope of the damage drop-off is pretty shallow. I like the M9 and Grach a lot better personally for the higher rate of fire, but the Rex has its place, too. I'm pretty sure you have to change your character's location with respect to the motion sensor in order to show up, but that is just from my personal experience. Maybe someone can confirm or refute this using the game data.

yeah that's correct. on xbox it's the two analog sticks - left stick (moving, stafing) makes you show up, right stick (looking around, turning) doesn't. you can crouch too.

Oh man, that's good to know! I thought it was like a "real" motion sensor in that if you did anything to affect the Doppler response you'd show up. Especially helpful for those times where you happen to be sitting still when you hear the first beep, because if you're already moving when you hear the beep it's too late to stop yourself from showing up for ~5 seconds.
