Hi Guys, I was just wondering how reactive Armor actually works. As far as i know it completely blocks an AT Shell from each side (left and right) and the back but not the front. And it has some kind of recharge time. So my Question is: Does it completely block 1 hit and how long takes it to recover. Can an Engineer repair it faster?
Thank you for any hints.
You are my bro, bro.

i don't even had it unlocked, but i started youtubing it out of curiousity
apparently it's strapping on explosive plates to your tank, which blow up once an RPG hits them. The force of the explosive plates prevents the rpg from penetrating too deep into your tank, thus protecting the crew. "recharging" explosive plates seems too unrealistic for DICE's tastes

I know how the real reactive armor works its an interresting approach i'd say^^ Saw the vid where they showed how an RPG really works and what it does to armor and how reactive Armor affects it. Since in reality there a many pods attached to the outside of the tank that explode seperately when hit, i think the recharge version isn't that unrealistic. They can even be reattached on the field if i got it right. But nevertheless if it didnt recharge wouldnt it be kind of pointless? 1hit and the whole perk lost its sense... I'm not quite sure though i just read it takes about 2-3min to recharge... would be nice if someone could just tell me anything specific. Unlocked it a few minutes ago eventually will update this post tomorrow if i got some infos

The tank have back, left and right reactive amors, AAV-7A1 have front, left and right reactive amors. IFV and M-AA have all 4 reactive amors.
The reactive amors can block one RPG/SMAW, guide missile,TV missile or Tank shell. When the reactive amors worked, it was destroyed itself at the same time.
The reactive amors can restore by repai tools. You must repai the side where the reactive amors lost, after 4 seconds, it restore.

does it block ALL of the damage from one attack or merely reduces it?

Doesnt seem to recover itself but repairing from the right direction for about 4sec works. Awesome perk... saved my ass quite a few times i guess

does it block ALL of the damage from one attack or merely reduces it? Block all the damage of one rocket/shell/missle. However, if can`t block the rocket pods fired from Helicopter/Jet and the cannons weapon.

Reactive armour only works when you actually hit the plates, if you hit a part without a plate on it it does regular damage based on what part of the vehicle.
Basically always target treads.

so does that mean if u get hit on the right side, your left side will still have reactive armor?

Yes. You are protected from every side except the front for one hit. That means if you can turn your tank in a 1v1 vs another tank to the sides and keep it frontal the meantime you might not even get disabled but still score the kill. Doesn't recover by time but can be repaired if your tank is at 100% health and you repair it for about 4sec from the side you want to protect again. It is just awesome How many times you get ambushed and rockets come from all directions and youre down within no time? That'll save your ass countless times. Sure you still need a soldier on your rooftop HMG but you're nearly unstoppable with the combo: Thermal Sight / Canister Shell / Reactive Armor Enemy Infantry drops in no time and when there is a hit from the back you dont expect, you just turn your main gun shoot that sucker and dont even lose 1% health. Will try the combo Reactive Armor / Guided Shell / Thermal sights though. I'd love to see how it works with a good teammate on the CITV....

I use Reactive Armour all the time and it doesn't matter where it hits, as long as that side has reactive armour plates on it it will stop the damage. It even works for mines and C4.

Well... guess you just did it wrong ;D Your vehicle has to be at perfect health -> 100% You need to have the reactive armor perk The reactive armor panel on the side you want to repair has to be destroyed. Then you just repair your vehicle for about 4sec from the desired direction -> TADA! But you have to be careful... there are so many idiots that just steal your tank when you repair it without a visual reason -.- Then they usually go for the next enemy mines and blow up everyone in the vehicle There are so many people that should not be allowed to drive tanks^^ Tanks are a huge force in the right hands but yet so many idiots waste the potential and completely screw everything up...

hm i did just that, to no avail.
maybe someone with the perk has to remain in the tank for it to work? i can't imagine the perk "sticking" to the tank when you're not in it.

If it's just you in the tank and you get out the armour will disappear, but you can still repair it and it will appear when you get back in the tank. The HUD indicator is a bit fussy though and may show you don't have armour on a side when you do, just use 3rd person to check. If you're repairing a tank and the driver has armour you will actually see the plates pop back into place when you repair after 100%.
