I don't think the ROF of the G36c is as high as everyone thinks. On 2 separate occasions, I've timed its ROF (on PC) and both times I've gotten a fire rate of ~675 RPM (I got very similar times when trying the AK47). Fred did some testing a while back and got 733 RPM. Someone else should test if they can to see what numbers they get.

You should mention the ridiculous swap time in the OP. G36 is great for Overkill. Oh yeah baby, My favourite Overkill is G36C+SCAR-L and Scavenger, not a coincidence Both guns share similar burst fire behaviour, so I swap instead of reload and pretend nothing happened = G36C with 60 mag and 360 bullets or so = LMG on steroids I don't think the ROF of the G36c is as high as everyone thinks. On 2 separate occasions, I've timed its ROF (on PC) and both times I've gotten a fire rate of ~675 RPM (I got very similar times when trying the AK47). Fred did some testing a while back and got 733 RPM. Someone else should test if they can to see what numbers they get. G36C can shoot at 750rpm, time between shots 0.08 sec. I did not test its theoretical ROF 769rpm, I’ll test it today… Anyway, 750rpm is worse than 666rpm in terms of accuracy = TTK. G36C has highest TTK at 666rpm = double-tripple tap.

To make sure I ested 0.15sec (=800rpm) as well and only 2 bullets fired.

Now is this 0.157 in 3 bullets from thorough testing? Did you record at 60FPS or any higher? *This is with Kick if it adds to the equation at all.*

3 bullets in 0.11 sec ? it is ROF = 1090rpm, ..... or maybe I should have some sleep pils ... > Did you record at 60FPS or any higher? Recording on PC? Frames you mean? Video lies. Nope, I have Intel super duper trillion GHz clock for that

For reference, frame limit in the PC version is something around 90FPS, which would very much explain why you're getting different results than console bros, where the limit is 60 and the actual average is even lower.

Human eyes can differentiate frame rates in excess of 60, but that's beside the point. The Quake engine has a limitation where fire rate and frame rate are correlated with each other: if you have unstable performance, some guns may see a reduction in fire rate. This is also why the PPSh Double Tap was a dumb idea on consoles, but actually viable on PC.

MW3 uses a variation on the Quake engine, meaning whatever limitations the Quake engine has are also present in MW3. It's the reason why you can actually run faster if you run on a wall at an angle than running straight forward.

@turbobrush:
I am planning to push G36C to gold and I want to see what play styles / loadouts you have used that are most effective. Based on what you recommend, looks like the G36C weapon customization has to be sights (to replace iron) + Kick. This means Silencer can't be attached and that is a major problem for AR players. As soon as you show up on enemies' mini-map, SMG/Shotty rushers will swarm at your location and G36C is at disadvantage against them.
On a related note: after you mastered the weapon, do you think that you can live with iron and/or live withou kick, so you can have more flexibility in weapon customization?
Thanks!

First of all, very impressive G36C weapon stat: 3.18 weapon KDR with > 3000 kills. You are definitely the expert on this weapon :-) Regarding weapon customization: looks like to be effective at G36C the first hurdle to get over is to adjust to the iron. It is bulky and visually ugly, but I imagine that it is not something that can't be overcome because the center area of the iron is not bad. Practically speaking, the bulky outside does not harm target acquisition that badly. Regarding loadouts: I have some questions For the 2 G36C classes you are current using. 1) G36C w/Silencer+Kick + Stinger, Scavenger / Assassin / Marksman, Specialist Quick Draw / SoH / Blast Shield. It looks like a vanilla Assault class to me, with which you are moving around and control engagements at mid range. Can you comment on 1) how you move; 2) how you win duels when you and your enemy see each other almost at the same time; 3) how you aim (lower body because G36C kicks upward?) & fire (based on your previous posts I assume that you shoot G36C in bursts, like how you would shoot a Type 95?) 2) G36C w/Silencer+Kick + MK14 (no attachment, can't see what proficiency you are using), SoH / Overkill / Marksman, Specialist Scavenger / Quick Draw / Dead Silence. How do you use these 2 weapons so they can complement each other? In general, looks like you strongly prefer Scavenger for your G36C loadouts. Is it because you feel that it has a greater need for ammo? Thanks! P.S. I know it is a lot to ask but it would be awesome if you can share a video that shows how you use the weapon. Just a suggestion :-)

Thanks for the compliment! Well these setups are actually brand new so the ones you have seen are test runs of different ways I can run this gun. Regarding weapon customization:[/u] - Correct being able to use these iron sights allows the gun to be used with a suppressor & kick, if you do not get used to the iron sights you would have to use a optical + suppressor and that negates the 50% chance to hit the target with the 2nd bullet using the Kick proficiency. 1) - Stinger[/u] I use to help out my team since I'm not running blind eye unless I get specialist pro which isn't guaranteed I want to take the assault kill streaks out as fast as possible. - Scavenger Pro[/u] I put on because the only benefit of the pro version is if you use it right off the bat with your main perks and I do run out of ammo fairly fast with the G36C because of how aggressive I am most of the time. - Assassin[/u] to stay off the radar which is a huge life saver, I don't like dying knowing the reason was because someone could see me on there mini-map and take necessary steps to take me out without me knowing they were coming. - Marksman[/u] is my favorite yellow perk, it counter's Assassin since I strictly pop shot when I am at a distance marksman allows for more precise shots and because it's static it works all the time. - Specialist[/u] - - - - Quickdraw Pro - Being able to aim faster then another player is almost always needed for a player like me running and gunning and or getting the first shot. - - - - Sleight of Hand Pro - Because I am using Scavenger Pro as my main blue perk. - - - - Blast Shield Pro - Stun / Flash protection can be a huge life saver at all times. - How I move:[/u] Aiming before going around corners, drop shot, if I unlocked Quickdraw Pro when I get into a gun on gun situation I normally always win because I am able to aim faster than the opposing player. - How I aim:[/u] I aim at the chest but I have been going for the 1,000 headshot title so the head has been my priority thus far. - How I shoot:[/u] Yes I burst fire even in close quarter situations unless I know that I am at a serious risk of dying that is when I do spray and generally it snags me kills (because, of the fast RPM the G36C has) unless the opposing player has a SMG or Shotgun. 2) This is just a test build the MK14 as a secondary because I was leveling up Overkill to Pro and the MK14 is deadly and is my 2nd favorite assault rifle, I just wanted to level it up aswell. [/i] Primary:[/u] G36C - Proficiency:Kick - - Attachment: Silencer Secondary:[/u] Stinger / MP9 / P99 / Python and etc. (a lot to choose from) - Attachment: Silencers on everything that allows it. Perks:[/u] - Sleight of Hand Pro - - Assassin Pro - - - Marksman (Pro doesn't matter) Specialist Killstreak:[/u] 1. Dead Silence Pro 2. Quickdraw Pro 3. Scavenger Pro[/quote] P.S. I know it is a lot to ask but it would be awesome if you can share a video that shows how you use the weapon. Just a suggestion:[/u] - I don't have a PVR and rendering off of Elite is ridiculous I have been having way to much trouble unless someone can enlighten me on how to use it.

Oh, I forgot you have already put out a recommendation. I'll start off with something similar to this and see how it goes. I am sure that I'll have a lot more questions for you once I have gained some experience with the weapon.
I am no expert on this matter. One simple idea I thought of (never tried because I have nothing to show off yet :-)) is to use Elite to record and render multiple video segments (60 seconds per segment for Elite members, up to 24 slots), and then stitch them together into one video. It is tedious to go through, but does not require extra equipments.

Regarding capture video clips through Elite, check out this discussion thread denkirson.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=nonsense&action=display&thread=3865 I did the following on XBL and it appears to work: All actions mentioned in a), b), c) and d) are done on XBox. If you link your YouTube account to your Elite profile on the Elite web site, the video will also be uploaded to YouTube.

I used to be an acr guy, but I recently converted over. However, I don't like using any sight attachments on the g36c because it tricks me into thinking the accuracy is better than it really is. I mainly used emags with kick on my way to gold.

I have been experimenting no Silencer setup but I found it very difficult to fight against rushing from SMG/Shotty players. They have superiority on speed, RoF, fast draw, and better hip accuracy. Without a silencer, a PP90M1 Striker / MP7 guy will often emerge right after I make a kill and I often lose the fight.

no, forget the irons, RDS+Silencer, or RDS+Impact, RDS + HBS, whatever you like. iron sights thin vertical marker is parallel to the vertical recoil = you cannot aim in mid range...

G36C - my first impressions
I used the weapon in the past but the way I used was to treat it the same way as ACR. After looking through this discussion I realized that's not the right way to go. Yesterday I started pushing the weapon to gold by following suggestions in this thread, below are my first impressions:
1) At least for me the iron sight is pretty easy to get used to. The main problem I had before was not functional, but more of an annoyance about its ugliness. Once I made a mental effort to ignore the bulky outside thingy, the iron is now just the inner circle to me. Functionally it is actually better than MP7's good looking iron, as that one prevents you from seeing thing below center (not to mention SMG's iron only has 1.20x magnification). G36C's bulky outside on the other hand, do not give you much of a problem. You can just think of it as an ugly Holo.
2) Kick + Silencer is definitely amazing. In comparison it feels significantly more accurate than the same setup for ACR.
3) To complete weapon challenges, I did RDS + Silencer and am currently working on Holo + Silencer. Both work reasonably well from mid-range engagement. You need to aim a bit lower than you normally work when going full auto, or control your burst.
4) For long range, I am planning to try ACOG+Kick combo. Kick provides the lazer like accuracy for the first 2-3 bullets, by following turborush's burst firing recommendation, it can be used like a Type 95 or MK14. G36C is a 4HK weapon at infinity, so 2-3 bursts should take care of business.
I have been having a lot of fun using MK14 for long range, but I am not very good at using it for mid-range duel. If G36C can have similar accuracy for long range, then it can be a more powerful alternative. The drawback with this setup is that I can't have silencer on. It's probably OK as long as I keep moving after a kill.
5) In an expert's hands G36C is deadly. I was playing against such a player last night on Interchange, and he absolutely dominated the map by starting with a 23-0 run and ended the game with 36-2. After the game I tried to learn a few things from him by watching from his angle in theatre, but unfortunately MW3 theatre is not good for that purpose as I can't be first person.
For ACR players: I suggest that you try G36C out using the combo I mentioned above. It's very likely that you'll find yourself liking G36C more. ACR still remains as the most flexible weapon in terms of customization, so I still consider the two comparable (+MP7 the trio forms MW3's best balanced weapon for all ranges).
Just my 2 cents.

Nothing special gun. I really liked it in CoD4, but don't like it nearly as much in MW3. It's a viable gun, but just pales in comparison to other ARs like the Type 95 or ACR.

Faster fire rate than the ACR, upward recoil trend, 1600 centerspeed, faster swap time to secondaries, and a faster time to kill just to name a few. This gun beats the ACR up close and at a distance if you pop shot.

^^ exactly.
1. With ACR I tend to press the fire button and spray, instead of double tap ... With ACR+Kick I can be accurate and have a nice TTK, but AMMO evaporates very fast.... That's my impression only, anyone looked at ammo usage vs kills?
2. No to mention without Kick ACR is weak.... I do not use Kick on G36C, Silencer + RDS only.... sometimes Impact+Silencer ... or "strong AR version": Impact+RDS for Hardhat ...

G36C - more in-depth impressions after playing with it for 3 days Weapon customization played: - Kick + Silencer
- Silencer + RDS / Holo / Hybrid Socpe
- Silencer + ACOG
Challenges completed: Silencer / RDS / Holo / ACOG (17/40 for Hybrid Scope) More impressions besides what I had above in quote: - As some other bros mentioned, with G36C's bulky iron sight Marksman is a better perk than Stalker.
- vs. Type 95: both are powerful when covering a narrow passage with long line of sights. If multiple players coming in a single file then they are toast. G36C is more effective at longer range while T95 is more powerful at close range. When I am facing SMG/Shotty in close range, G36C will often lose, while T95 has good chance of winning. G36C is much more powerful for long range sniping (in AR, second only to MK14). T95 on the other hand is underwhelming while trying to kill somebody from longer range, I often get multiple hitmarkers without a kill.
- vs. ACR: I "golded" ACR a while ago when I was still pretty noobish. Since I have not played with ACR much after that, it would not be a fair comparison. With that said, I feel that I like G36C better than ACR. ACR is a good choice and it is beginner friendly. It has no significant weaknesses (good stopping power, good iron, good mag size, good recoil...), but on the other hand it also does not have superior strength. G36C on the other hand has vertical only recoil that can be effectively managed through kick and/or players' skills.
In general, I feel G36C has bigger potential to be more powerful than ACR and T95 for strong players. Both ACR and T95 are good weapons, but once you become familiar with them you may feel that they are very good but not great. G36C on the other hand provides room for you to grow your skills with it and over time you'll be able to tune it to be more deadly. Again, just my 2 cents.

I've played only search the past few prestiges. I used predominantly the mp7 with silencer and red dot. and continually amazed myself at how balanced it was. close range and with the help of the rds, long range as well.
I switched to the g36c and have 300+ search kills with it in this prestige so far. with kick and silencer it is amazing. maybe the irons are bad for acquiring multiple targets at range in something like groundwar, but for search they are phenomenal. I mean really good. I can burst fire at any range with these sights. honestly, I prefer them to rds or holographic. the vertical only recoil is very manageable and perfect for dropshotting at close range. I really only lose to hipfiring smgs on average, and the mp7 would have lost to them as well.
I've also noticed that in those rare times I come across two guys at once, I am much more likely to kill them and survive than I was with the mp7. its very difficult to engage two enemies with the mp7, you just have to land too many shots.
also, the sway on the g36 seems minimal.
