I've heard that the M1014 got the most "umpf" out of the Spring 2012 patch. Can I get a statistical analysis(Old VS New) and opinions on the M1014's viability with the other shotguns?

well, the M1014 has a fire rate of 210 RPM, and a tightened cone when using shot. However, even though it was buffed, its big brother, the DAO, was buffed even more, with the DAO having 10 RPM on it, and better or equal stats in every other place. So, in summary, use the DAO, and only use the M1014 if you want to gain cool points.

Doesn't the M1014 have a tighter cone of fire than the DAO?

no, to quote the symthic forums:
Base spread: 870: 2.0 M26, SAIGA, DAO, M1014: 3.0 MK3, USAS: 3.5

M1014 has the fastest shell reload and the highest recoil recovery. That's about it. I just use it because it looks nice.

I guess I'll just have to settle with those advantages as the M1014 is by far the best looking shotty.

If it makes you feel better, slugs are pretty amazing on semi-auto shotguns now (when you're not suppressed), and the high recoil recovery gives the M1014 a slight edge when shooting beyond close range. Same applies for frags but...they're frags.

What about the frags :3? Also I think I read somewhere that the M1014 shoots @ 210 RPMs while all the other Semi-autos shoot at 200. Not sure though.

That would be in the official patch notes, most likely But somewhere along the way they apparently thought the DAO-12 deserved a higher rate of fire even though it has a much bigger cap than the m1014, so

Can I be linked to the official patch notes then? Also could you guys tell me all shotgun stats(Spread, damage w/ different ammo/RoFs, ect) as I'm not sure of them as of now :C

Thanks but don't the spreads differ with ammo types for the auto's?

yeah, 0.1 ADS spread for the 870, 0.4 for the semis, and 0.6 for the autos

So is it worth ADS's with shotguns in this gayme?

only if you don't move, the second you start moving, you have worse ADS spread than lasered hipfire

So movement effects your ADS spread?
EDIT: Also is the 870 the only shotty that shoots 12 pellets now?

Aiming down sights doesn't improve the conespread (as far as I know), but only the spread of where the cone actually hits. So the 870 fires its cone at 0,1 spread while the spread of its pellets is 2.0
And all shotguns except the USAS and the MK3 still fire 12 pellets (thank god for that, else the semis would have become even more useless)

Really? I thought all non-pump action shotguns got the axe. Thank goodness.

One last thing to consider is that they fixed the RoF issues with semi-auto weapons. Especially evident on the shotguns, given their life or death nature, they didn't fire as fast as they were supposed to. Now they fire quick enough that I feel confident winning most every battle in shotgun range, which is how it should be obviously.

So they upped the Saiga's RoF too? Or was the fire rate cap set lower than the supposed amount to and is now fixed?

Nah, it was just that previously you had to fire perfectly in sync with the rate of fire our else your gun would "jam". So even though the RoF was 200, most of the time your gun jammed so much it felt reaaaal slow

So are these the correct RoF? M1014-210 Saiga 12K-200 DAO-220 USAS-275 (I heard it was reduced slightly but not sure) How much more accurate does the LAZOR make you're shotty again?

Don't use it. It sucks. I calculated the average amount of shots needed to kill (shots fired * accuracy / kills) and I need around ten shots to kill with the M1014, five shots with the G36C and three shots with the SVD...

your formula is wrong, accuracy has no place in that formula, as you are basically basing the formula upon the damage the gun does, which we already know. This is flawed if you decide to spam the shottie at long range with buck, which, while hitting, does little damage, and will not work.

No, I don't use it at long range. It just shows how often it fails to kill and even when it kills it takes a lot of shots.

If you need 10 shots to kill with any shotgun using any ammo type, you're doing something seriously wrong.

well, the only assumption is that either, whenever he is about to get a kill with the M1014, he is killed, or someone steals the kill, or he is using 56 instead of .56 for the accuracy, resulting in a messed up value

well, the only assumption is that either, whenever he is about to get a kill with the M1014, he is killed, or someone steals the kill Yes, that's what I meant. It happens a lot. If you need 10 shots to kill with any shotgun using any ammo type, you're doing something seriously wrong. According to your profile, you need around eight shots to kill someone with the M1014. Not much better, and I don't know your playstyle, how much you play hardcore mode or how much you used it before the patch when it had more damage...

Not sure where you're pulling that garbage from. It's never taken me more than 3-4 shots to kill with any shotgun (excluding frags, but that's another story). And quite frankly, your 10, or 8 if you want, shot argument makes no logical sense whatsoever. Even assuming through some unholy luck you only hit with one pellet per shot at max range, the most it would take to kill someone is 7-8 shots. And you'd have to be downright stupid to engage with a buck/flechette shotgun at that kind of range.
I can only assume you're trying to divide shots fired by kills and accuracy. That doesn't work at all. For one, it doesn't take into account any time you wound an enemy and don't get credit for the kill, or die in the process. Second, it doesn't take into account any time you fire the weapon without an enemy target. Lastly, I can only assume given the ridiculous shot number that shotguns count each pellet as a shot. I do love me some shotguns, but there's no way I've fired every shotgun 5000+ times each.
Edit: And for the record, I don't touch Touch.

But that's exactly the point I'm trying to make. Compare shotguns to automatic weapons and you'll see how useless they are, since you need the same or more shots to kill someone at a much lower rate of fire and much lower range.
