i can't find anywhere exactly what all the attachments do post patch.
also, what exactly happens when you change fire rate to single fire or burst or auto.
also, its pretty balanced now right? so i can just play around with random weapons and attachments and it won't matter too much? like if you played MW3 with no knowledge of the stats you might struggle if you randomly decided to play with the mp5 or something. is there an equivalent gap in BF3?

guns are mostly fairly balanced. there are some obviously superior and some obviously inferior ones, but all in all you can do ok with anything, really.
the attachments, as of the late patch, (if i'm informed correctly, i'm a bit out of the loop right now) do behave a bit differently for individual weapons i think.
short version: grip = less recoil, more spread heavy barrel = less spread, more recoil, maximum damage range gets a bit longer laser = better hipfire, annoys people light = annoys people (especially team mates) bipod = deployed bipod grants great bonuses to accuracy but fixes you in one spot sights are pretty obviousl
if you want effortless easymode go M16 with HB and bipod or understlung weapon. it's bland, it's boring, but it's better than almost anything else in almost any area.

Expanding upon that, the sights have 3 different varieties in terms of ADS speed
Irons, fast ADS, fast un-ADS
Holo/red dot etc.: Fast ADS slow un-ADS
High power scopes: Slow ADS, Slow un-ADS

yeah, pretty much. imagine a cone with it's tip on your guns muzzle. bullets will hit within this cone. shooting prolonged bursts will expand that cone. stopping to fire will make it shrink again.

Just to add, as has been said, you can use any gun any do well. The vast majority of the weapons that are the best or worst in their category are barely so, and unless you see the raw stats for yourself you won't notice much difference. You're best off picking a weapon you think looks and sounds good, or just experiment with everything until you find the gun that feels "right." Wolf, you and your cones... Just pretend you have the hipfire crosshairs all the time, and they get bigger the longer you fire. Not as quickly as hipfire of course, but your bullets will start going places if you fire too long.
